I think you're trying to be funny. Or maybe you aren't really a Louisville fan but you're doing a parody of a Louisville fan.
Oh well, I think it's true you've pointed out a couple of signs of the obsession many Louisville fans have with UK. I don't think all Cardinal fans have that obsession, but many who post on message boards do.
But those are 2 of the biggest signs you've pointed out- the hope that Labissiere is ineligible and the current argument going on regarding the SEC in basketball. I chimed in on that one over on the Louisville board. I don't think there is any question that the ACC is the top conference in basketball right now. But that was not the argument- the argument was that the SEC is the WORST of all the major conferences and has been for 20 years now. I posted some stats over there to prove that to be incorrect using Final Fours and National Title stats. Fact is, the SEC (weak as many wish it to be and say it is) has done a great job of preparing its best teams for the postseason every year. And it's not just UK and everyone else, either. Florida was the last team to win back to back titles. LSU has made a Final Four in the last 10 years. And both Florida and UK made the Final Four just 2 years ago, with UK make a return trip last season. Bottom line: the stats don't support the contention that the SEC is the worst major conference in basketball. But I think many like to jump on the SEC schools when they lose to directional schools in basketball because the conference has been so dominant in football for so long. It makes the basketball programs an easy target.
Aside from all this, conference strength doesn't matter. The most telling comparison between UK and UofL is the head to head series. It was already tilted in UK's favor, but when Calipari arrived it became even more pronounced, including 2 seasons of UK eliminating UofL from the Dance. The one year UK lost to the Cards under Calipari was at the Yum Center and UK's NIT team and Louisville's title team, and the game had to be won on a last second, 35 foot shot by the Cards.
