That smile on his face after the layup high off the glass from a Butler feed, made my day. He has the motor and the athleticism. I would like to see him bulk up and work with someone in the off-season to add a couple of moves to his repoitoire.
Yes sir! Add in the stud freshmen coming in and a few key portal pieces!Man if we get Chandler and Oweh back LFG
He certainly has work to do to be a dependable starter but, I agree with you —- he does have the tools. Needs to put on weight, do film study all summer, keep working on that jumper and take post defense personally. That smile on his face after the layup high off the glass from a Butler feed, made my day. This.I never understood the bashing of Garrison and comparing him to Williams by some on this board. He is only a Sophomore and you can definitely see the potential. He may not end up being the passer that Williams is, but I think his offensive ceiling is higher. Williams has 3 years of experience on him.
I'm still amazed with the big time improvement of Chandler from the beginning till now... Oweh is unbelievable too all year long..... Like you said we get them both back next year you aren't kidding LFG.....Man if we get Chandler and Oweh back LFG
Don't overlook his defense - in the same possession yesterday in crunch time, he switched onto and guarded 3 different Illini players in the same possesion - locked each of them up.I agree with K_Time about his ability to score around the basket. He needs a better shot and smoother moves as well as the ability to get more rebounds (gettin in position to rebound). But I’m not a coach. Maybe with more maturity he can improve.
Wow. He is ONLY a sophomore. You try playing only 10-14 minutes per game, come in a pressure packed game and see how you do. He has won a couple games for UK this year. The talent is there, just needs a little more reps to put it together.I'm ok either way (stay or go) on Garrison. I just don't think he is good enough to be a starting C. IMO, just borderline good enough to be the backup C.
- he is a BAD rebounder!!! 3.9reb in 17.3mpg equated to 6.8 per30min, which is not good for a C.
- he is a BAD FT shooter!!! 52.4% on 42 attempts
- he is not quick, nor strong. I think he can get stronger this summer, but not sure about being quicker. So those of you saying he could be a stretch 4, NO!!! I don't think he can guard most 4's, and on offense he's not taking anyone off the dribble, and he is barely decent at shooting 3's.
- he is not a good defender
Overall offense (4 out of 10)
Shot (5 out of 10)
FTs (2 out of 10)
Passing (7 out of 10)
Rebounding (3 out of 10)
Post defense (4 out of 10)
Perimeter defense (4 out of 10)
Shot blocking (3 out of 10)
That's exactly how you start building your program back!Hell yes I hope he stays. This core of Oweh/Garrison/Chandler/Noah/Perry is foundational with top tier recruiting and maybe an important portal add or two.
I am very excited about Garrison’s potential next year. Already in long stretches this year he has performed like a stronger (admittedly much less coordinated) Andrew Carr with more hops and I hope to see us use him more in that capacity. For a big man the biggest single perform gain is usually from the sophomore year to the junior year. That smile on his face after the layup high off the glass from a Butler feed, made my day. Garrison is an important player for us in the rough. It’s his maturity that needs improving. I hope the coaching staff does everything they can to keep him.He has the potential and tools. Just needs to get a little more mature and improve some decision-making. He has the talent, just needs developed some more.
