I freaking love Coach Stoops.

Anybody kinda feeling like we could see the type of season Missouri put together a couple of years ago? Or last season even. I would be surprised if that happened, but not shocked. Regardless I won't be disappointed if we win 6-7 and get to a decent bowl game. However if we put one of those special missouri type seasons together the lid will blow off this thing recruiting wise.

Not seeing that type of season yet. Missouri was playing a ton of RS experienced players plus Pinkel has been building that program for over 10 years.

UK is going to be a young team this season especially when you consider them possibly starting 2 freshman at CB. This team could have 8 wins in them if things go right. 2016 and/or 2017 are the seasons I circled when Stoops came to KY.

I'm a cynic so all the praise seems coordinated and telegraphed. I hope I'm wrong!

Do you think that half of the team would collectively come together and lie about the energy and execution of their practice? I doubt it, man.

I do, actually. Half the team hasn't collectively come together to tweet about a good practice before. The timing is suspect, IMO.

I don't doubt yesterday was a bad practice, that's a given this far into camp, but certain aspects do feel orchestrated. Mark Stoops says yesterday was a terrible scrimmage (I believe that), they practice again (Stoops tweets out a pic saying he wasn't satisfied), and then a lot of players tweet out saying it was the best practice they've ever been a part of.

...This might be a post for another time, but this feels like a Calipari influence on the AD office and also Stoops. A way to manipulate the fan base via media. It can all absolutely be true (I'm being serious), but have a veneer of coordinated cosmetics which ultimately makes it ring a bit false. Last night read like, "it was a good practice last night. Best thing I've ever been a part of" sort of thing. I mean, there's trying hard, and then there's trying hard. #NoChill

That idiot was pound-for-pound the best NBA player of all time. Brought a box of rocks to the finals two years.

He (Iverson) gave his body to the game and his heart was questioned by a coach for his practice habits.

If you watched the game, you'd know why this small guy was 'looked up to'.

Horrible take.

He was also an illiterate moron. It's amazing that people like you glorify the worst parts of our society.

Personally, I have higher standards and refuse to bend over and kiss the backside of someone just because they have a million dollar sports contract. I guess the more gold chains and diamonds you wear means what kind of value you have as a person, right?

Reminiscent of how Bear Bryant handled matters at UK.
LOL! It's reminiscent of how all good college football coaches handle their teams near the end of August. Especially coaches with young teams. You can surf around to other teams this week and find nearly every smart coach complaining about his team. They are lowering fan expectations and sending a tough love message to their own players. Decisions must be made this week. This is the time of year when depth charts get adjusted and redshirts get taken off. The players are sore and tired after 3 intense weeks of practice, so coaches have to kick them in the seat of the pants. By the time Kentucky plays Lafayette, our players will be anxious to hit a different color jersey and kick the snot out of a real opponent. Stoops comes from a family of veteran coaches. He knows exactly what he is doing.

uh wow. I think guys were tweeting because they got called to the carpet by their coach for pitiful effort the last 2 days. And he evidently went old school last night and it inspired the team. If things were going all peachy no way Stoops puts them through another tough practice and risk injury for PR effects...get real.

10-12 guys doesn't come close to equaling half the team. Just an absolutely terrible take...terrible.

Didn't know that splitting the atom was a requirement for evaluating/appreciating one's contribution to a sporting event. TIA.

Perhaps there should be a requirement for sharing one's SAT scores prior to posting jibberish.

Ha. Well, that's not exactly a fair characterization of my previous post, but an opinion nonetheless!

Your idiocy is appalling. An orchestrated reaction to a practice [roll]
Could be the dumbest thing I've heard here, and I hear stupid $#!t daily on this website. A coach that has never sugar coated anything for us before would sugar coat a practice on a massive scale for what purpose? And your only answer is "to manipulate the fan base" (I guess, into believing they had a good practice? Which is stupid, by the way).

I guess if I ever decide to become a conspiracy theorist though, I'll have a few exchanges with you. I'm sure you're full of neat conspiracy theories.

Heh! This post ranges from straw-manning my post to making a blanket judgement about me. Too perfect. Stay golden, Ponyboy!

This practice will create what I call a "memory peg" for the team. If/when they bump into a situation during the season when they are not playing the way they are capable off they can bring up the Sep 22 thing and it will tend to snap them back into that mode of play.

A credit to the coaches for forcing the issue, and a credit to the players for rising to the occasion and proving they can break through that wall, not succumb to it.

I must agree 100% Idiocy has stricken his mind!

It's "Stay gold, Ponyboy", not "Stay golden". If you're going to try to cap off some kind of insult towards me by referencing the Outsiders, get the quote right, guy.
I'm not straw-manning your post, and I'm not making a blanket judgement. It just seems like an idiotic post. Seriously, who does that? Who makes a conspiracy theory about a football practice? If you seen it from the majority's point of view, you would have a better shot at understanding how ignorant your post seems. I get that some people don't want to be optimistic about football, I've seen it plenty of times, but there's a difference between optimism and realism, and it's not realistic to stage a reaction for a football practice among your team.
Nothing personal, I just think you're being silly. If you don't like what I have to say, ah well. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

It says a lot about certain people in our fan base that can be so negative about a special moment in the teams season. It's like it pisses certain people off that Kentucky football may be on the up and up. If u can't say anything positive about a positive situation, then log off and do us all a favor!

No kidding. Players are coming out of the woodwork talking about how inspiring last nights practice was, and this guy's immediate take is that it must have been orchestrated??

Wow

But what if they run into a bump before then? Can they really refer to the future for inspiration? Must be some truth to the Patrick-Harry Potter black magic relations. Can he tell me the Powerball?

:) Sorry D...just had to be that guy lol!

If this is a way to manipulate us into a title and multiple FF's then I'm all for it.

I'm not predicting it, but I won't be surprised in the least by it either. This team went 5-7. Took Louisville and Florida to the wire. Now we have a bunch of seasoned talent and leaders. A new look stadium. Eight home games. Not to mention we have one of the top defensive minds in college football in charge.

Woodson Jr year when they got shellacked at lsu was the moment that team credited for their turnaround. It would be nice if this can be a launching point for a special season. Back to back bad practices and then to come out and have, according to attendees, the most physical practice since Stoops has been here... that could be a bar raiser.

Definitely a good coaching move from my opinion.

This is where a team can learn how to get tougher. Last year we had a mid season melt down. Coach Stoops is doing everything he can to make sure that doesn't happen again.
I really don't think the x's and O's are there yet but the fire sure is and he will get the X's and O's if have a little patience I think we will get a real good one !!

And yet some of the "participation trophy" crowd thought they just needed a day off...LOL!!...it's always easy to figure out which posters played sports in the past and which ones didn't...

geez

I don't know why people quote that idiot. I never understood why that was such a memorable press conference. I guess he's the kind of guy people look up to in America.

as an iverson fan, i gotta reply. the guy had lost his best friend that morning. he was in mourning. gold chains and all, the guy could flat out ball. people admired the heart he played with.

This is a message board, not a peer-reviewed journal. This is my canvas, and I'm going to paint how I want to paint it.

I always loved night practices as a player.

Ah, the late night practices. We would hit each other like it was a game. Let me say, the intensity is contagious. I've gotten de-cleated more than once in a night practice.
