I freaking love Coach Stoops.

Reminiscent of how Bear Bryant handled matters at UK. There were times when UK won under Bryant, but not in the manner he coached or wanted it done. I remember a night game where he won handily, but thought the effort was poor. So, he calls a midnight practice after the game. This got the players attention fast.

The attitude that Coach Stoops and our players have going into this season is exactly why we are going to see a drastic improvement and IMO will win more games than many are predicting. How awesome would it be to wrap up the East and Finebaum have to invite Patrick back onto his show to apologize.

I love that..THIS is why I'm confident we take that next step this season..these guys are busting their a** and want to be the best
By "these guys" I assume you mean the coaches. Because the players obviously were not or they wouldn't have had to practice tonight.

Back-to-back bad days doesn't mean the team doesn't care.... Also, the players seemingly made up for it since the positivity on Twitter indicates a vast improvement.

Stoops is trying to instill a winning attitude/mentality. You think winners don't have bad days, no energy, nagging injuries? Of course they do. But the best are able to block that stuff out and perform when the going gets tough. We did not do that last year and he is not going to allow a repeat this year. Stoops is gonna be a legend before he's done here and it's days like today that showcase the type of coach he is.

Sounds like the players responded and this could be a big step forward on our way to respectability in the SEC and the country.

Love the response by our team!!

When the coach calls you out as a team for lack of effort and execution, then you make the commitment to fix it right here and now, that is GROWTH AND MATURITY!!!

Can't wait for Sept. 5th to get here!!!!

This practice is starting to sound like something they're going to reflect on throughout the season to let them know their potential. Brilliant call by Stoops to get them all back on the field, and terrific effort from the team to make a practice so special.

I don't know why people quote that idiot. I never understood why that was such a memorable press conference. I guess he's the kind of guy people look up to in America.

That idiot was pound-for-pound the best NBA player of all time. Brought a box of rocks to the finals two years.

He (Iverson) gave his body to the game and his heart was questioned by a coach for his practice habits.

If you watched the game, you'd know why this small guy was 'looked up to'.

Horrible take.

You just quoted his quote, so.....

Football discussion, guys.

Respectfully, how old are you?!

Sounds like they had a 'Remember the Titans' type practice.
Thought the exact same thing.

KY football (except at certain times of some success) has been soft and lacking leadership, toughness, and a true winning mentality. Recruiting at an SEC level is a challenge in itself, but changing a losing culture is a whole different animal. Stoops gets it. It's as simple as that. This program has to get tougher and work harder than the others in the SEC to establish its relevance in the conference. I really cannot remember another time in several years a staff has taken this kind of step during the fall camp with what sounds like incredible results.

I'm liking the "remember the 22nd" slogan. Good way to carry on the emotion of tonight forward through at least the rest of camp.
