We lost bc the offense failed to execute. We have big defensive problems and if we hadn’t been flawless offensively we would have lost to UF. With that said defense can be fixed over night with more effort and some different defensive looks. Popes still struggles to win games in the 70s or even 60s. Those are the games you have to be able to win in the tourney. Let’s see what he does

This reminds me of last season. Where we all complained for 90% of the season about the defense and how it needed fixed. And it never did.

I don't doubt Pope's ability to make adjustments. He's shown time and time again this season in big games. But you can only do so much as a coach. At some point bad defensive players are just bad defensive players.

Might have to win the same way we did last year........by scoring a boatload of points.

Definitely possible.

This is why I feel like even tho this will be a tough road test vs a very good Miss St team, I can see us winning.

I also feel like there's a bounce back factor. We played horrible vs UGA and it's hard to imagine we'd be that bad a second game in a row.

We can play the best game we've played all year and still lose this one by 10.
We gave one away Tuesday night. These guys need to realize, road wins are going to be scarce and they can't go into these arenas weak minded, they have to be 100% mentally prepared to fight like crazy every play and not let the refs tale them out of their games .
Pope needs to try Jaxson off the bench, he might thrive in that role.

Sure it can. We have guys who can defend. Pope has to rethink his defensive strategy. At the end of the day guys have to play harder on the defensive end. They have to wear teams down with depth.

I think the issues with the defense go a lot deeper than just "play harder".

I don't subscribe to this boards theory of "it's just all effort" and they just need to "try harder".

These guys have been in college for years now. At what point do we just admit what they are.

If the high ball screen is a problem in a game get away from continuing man to man.

For literally the first time all year he is finally starting to acknowledge that defense, rebounding, focus and effort are the main areas of emphasis for his team right now. After the other losses he was still saying the offense still just isn’t right and that will take time but rarely mentioned the things he did tonight. I trust he will get these issues fixed and bring that kenpom defensive rating down from the 90s to atleast 30s 40s by seasons end and that will be a title contender if the offense remains top 10.

The defense looks too much like Cal's the past 5 years...doubt that it is fixable, but it definitely need work BAD!!
