For literally the first time all year he is finally starting to acknowledge that defense, rebounding, focus and effort are the main areas of emphasis for his team right now. After the other losses he was still saying the offense still just isn’t right and that will take time but rarely mentioned the things he did tonight. I trust he will get these issues fixed and bring that kenpom defensive rating down from the 90s to atleast 30s 40s by seasons end and that will be a title contender if the offense remains top 10.

How did you listen to it? Last nights episode doesn’t show on iTunes for me or on iHeart

Four things he said were the main areas of emphasis (meaning our weaknesses) - that's a lot to correct right at the start of SEC play. Doesn't make me feel good at all. Recognizing is indeed the first step to recovery, but action on that many weaknesses in a timely and effective manner is unlikely to happen.

Focus and Effort are two things that can be corrected. Coaches have ways to improve their players mindsets. Defense and being physical is another thing especially if you are slower and less athletic.

As down as everyone is, this team has answered the bell before. I’m not declaring Saturday a loss just yet. The guys might be embarrassed into some bravado for forty minutes.
Our history so far is that we rebound well and have some switch that we flip for higher ranked teams. I hope that's the case Saturday. But if we thought UGA was loud and raucous (it wasn't), MSU will be wacktown.

Yeah I think a lot of it is personnel issues which we knew going into the season. I’m not gonna start being too critical of Pope until next year. I went into this year saying I’d be thrilled if we win a tournament game, I think now that’s been upped to making the Sweet 16 though

As a fanbase we get too high and too low. It’s crazy. We are still the same team we were two days ago, still flawed, still dangerous
This x1000. There are going to be a lot of big wins but also plenty of losses this year in the SEC

Did he say anything about mixing in more zone? I really want to see this.

Those freaking out are ridiculous … we will be fine and we will have more like last night.

Those that say we can’t be beat after grinding out a win at home are ridiculous… it’s hard to win on the road. Remember.

Those saying they’d be thrilled with a tournament win bc of short notice or first year are ridiculous. Pope had just as long as any other coach. Rosters are one year now. He got hired before the tournament was over. He’d disagree with that statement as hard as anyone.

As he did against Duke and Gonzaga- Pope will make an adjustment and we will figure the road out.

His radio shows are can't miss. So enlightening and educational. He talked about how they don't focus on the rules, but rather how the refs are calling the game that particular nite.
“Based on our whistle in our first two SEC games, we’re doing in-depth study right now on — we’re not interested in what the rules are, we’re interested in the rules that are being called,” he said. “We want to push the envelope as far as we can toward the rules that are being called more than just following the rules that are written. … We’re learning the whistle right now. We got a massive education on the whistle last night.

Very smart approach, and the last line made me lol

Being honest goes a long way. Just acknowledge the elephant in the room. Our defense is losing these games that should be neck and neck down the stretch. We hot, we can win. If we cold, we gotta have another way to win. That's defense, and that wins championships.

He went down that road more than I would have expected, good for him
