call me a Cal apologist , slurper ... cult ? lol whatever idc. Do I think he has faults ? Sure . All coaches do. ALL of them. Should?** (loosely used ) we have another title ? Maybe? Maybe not

But man- these are fun fun fun times, and I can't believe some of the ignorant filth I see on here by some against Cal. I understand having critiques of him, or not agreeing with every single
Thing ... but man, some people are just flat out Cal haters and have hypocritical expectations.

It's an amazingly fun ride and I don't think we will witness this excitement/ sucesss with our next coach. We will always be UK. We will always be relevant ... but sheesh. These times are fun and I , for the life of me , can't understand some of the hate I see towards Cal and staff.
Cal legitimately has us in the hunt / top 10/ "contender status" nearly EVERY single year.

What more can you honestly ask for ? Most years he is fielding a team for us that has a legitimate shot at a Title . That's pretty amazing . I don't think people understand how important that is and how "blessed" we are to have our program in the current state it's in ( that being; incredibly
Successful and basically the biggest "story" of college basketball every year )

Thoughts ?

Shew OP is burning it up on here, I mean wearing this board out. Two threads started today, both original posts ending in "thoughts?" Take it easy, your post count will go up with time. Don't have to get it all in one day.

As to your thread, Cal is the best in the biz. No one else out there doing what he's doing with one and done.

Also EVERYONE knows you aren't a UK fan. A board parody describes it pretty well.

But hey, every message board needs 1 or 3
:)

I think he's the best on-court/off-court fit possible. He's made the entire season as enjoyable as it's ever been for any program.

Could the results have been better? Sure. I don't think there's a fan base in America that is yet to rationalize how they could have won more games and titles. So if you want to point to seasons that should have gone better, fine. But you can also point to seasons that went better than we thought they might or better than the talent suggests.

But life after Cal? Man, there was life after Rupp and life after Hall and life after Pitino and even life after Sutton and Gillispie. It'll be different. It might be worse, it might be better, but 25,000 people are going to come watch every game the year he leaves, and if we lose every damn game, we're still the winningest program in college basketball.

We'll be back. Whether one year or twenty, we'll be back. And every one of us will be here for the entire ride. Besides, he could retire tomorrow and he's left the program in much, much better shape than he found it.

In my lifetime (I'm 49), Cal is the best UK has had since Rupp and it's not even close. Keeps UK at the forefront year round. Recruits like a dream. Wins at 83-84% clip. Has won a title. Makes deep runs in March. Makes kids go to class and has recruited great kids. UK has never been this popular with recruits. Just amazing what he has done in only 8 years.
Now coaching for USA basketball. UK has been in the hunt for a title every year he has been here except for one year IMO.

This is one of the best posts of the year, after Cal leaves we will more than likely struggle with our next coach I know we will get back on top but it might take awhile to do it.

Kentucky will do just fine when cal leaves. It may take a couple of years, but U.K. Will always be good. Think if UK gets a coach that is actually a solid floor coach but can still recruit close to what cal does.

In case you forgot - I'll emphasize again.... EVERY B O D Y, knows you're aren't a UK fan. You've made yourself into a self parody. Even if you were a "troll" you don't even do that well.

Take some tips from smooth... and maybe find another rival teams board to mensturate all over? Maybe the UNC or UL board. @Steelers2012 would welcome you with open arms ! :)

Orrrr you're more than welcome to stay here. It has become sorta comical at this point.

Only quirk I have with Cal is we should have at least 2 titles. With that said, enjoy the ride. It's been a GREAT 8 years.

For all of his critics on here, I really don't see who is out there who could do a better job in the role here. Anyone else at his level or higher isn't leaving the NBA or their current college job.

I love Cal to the nth degree, but when he decides to hang up his practice whistle several years from now, Brad Stevens will be burned out at Boston.
Not many stay at one place for years and years in the NBA other than Pop.
He will come in and keep the fire hot.
It will be a hard act to follow for anyone, obviously.

I think Brad Stevens is the only coach I can think of that would leave me feeling optimistic after Cal leaves. Cal will be tough to replace.

We had it before Cal, we have it with Cal, and we'll have it after Cal. UK basketball is bigger than any one person. However, Cal is clearly one of the all-time greats, and I will hate to see him leave.

BTW OP, I'm sure you've been told this a million times but your initials make me chuckle.

This team has become my only serious connection to American sports over the past few years. I gave up on the corrupt NFL, baseball has become nearly unwatchable (jmo), the NBA never did it for me, but I haven't had the slightest urge to leave UK behind with the rest. Cal has had a lot to do with the level of excitement of course but I would be a fan even if it backslid into the Tubby years.

The Cal years and the violent ups and downs are quite in line with my 2nd love (Chelsea FC, say what you want, I lived in London for a while and love the team).... There is a constant year to year flux of talent (and coaches over there), you are always in the hunt for glory but never know where you will end up. Coincidentally 2012 was the height for both. In a little over a month we took #8 and Chelsea became champions of Europe for the first time.

Not that anyone here gives a crap but then my posts have never hinged on what any of you think. I almost never return to a thread after posting anyway.

Well thank you for gracing us with your presence lol

Here is my response to the people that think he should have more titles. The NCAA tournament is really, really good for excitement. The NCAA tournament is really, really bad for finding out who the best team is. All you can do is give yourself a chance every year and Cal is great at that.

Frank, I cannot say it any better. I am enjoying this time frame and will continue to because we are putting the best team possible on the court and getting the best guys. I agree he is not without flaws, but lets get real... It might be the hardest job to do what he does on a yearly basis and compete... It isn't just about great players at each position.. they have to play together as a team to get somewhere.

I'm not a Cal hater or basher, and my post history will confirm this, but I am actually looking forward to the next era. Cal has had incredible success, but I am ready for the next era. I always enjoy watching the maturation of growth of players over a few seasons and really miss that component. Maybe I am assigning too much of that to Cal, and perhaps it's just the reality of college basketball landscape. Either way, cal has been incredible but I also think Kentucky will always be Kentucky.

Now-- go ahead and slam me! :)
