I do NOT think it is going to happen, but....

If we were to beat Bama, Florida and Auburn in 3 straight days, should be get a 2 seed? I say yes.
Should? Yes.

Would? Probably not. Maybe I’d be wrong but I think mostly the SEC results with just slide around the top 4 seeds between 1 and 2 seeds.

I have mixed feelings. Beating those three teams would be the single best stretch of any team this season, and it would be challenging at the right time.

At the same time I do think that your entire body of work should matter more than rhe SEC tournament and a 3 is probably right for UK. JMHO

It's so unlikely but yes, I think a 24 and 10 UK team would warrant the last 2 seed in that scenario.

We wouldn't jump bama, Florida or UT though sonwould have to get above Iowa St or st John's. Idk who the last 2 will be.

I know it goes against the grain to outright pick Kentucky, or to even have a feeling Kentucky would win the whole thing this year ( except maybe me)

but think about it.
EVEN IF (a huge IF) we actually Won the SEC tourney title .... Beating exactly those teams..... we SHOULD be, but wont? why ?

2011

We beat Florida straight up and got that 4 seed, and they got a 2 seed and we won the SEC tournament that year. Same thing basically this year ...

This year ? If that were to happen : (i'd say ... lol)
we still get a 3 seed, florida would still get the 1 seed and bama and UT the other 2 #2 seeds, with the overall #1 seed to .... dUKe. (it SHOULD BE AUBURN in that scenario, but this assumes a dUKe ACC tourney title as well) They'll say dUKe gets the overall nod over auburn because they lost 3 of their last 5 games and dUKe ... did not.

lol

and we will be scratching our head sitting there as (1) Florida's #3 seed in the West, wondering - wtf - WE HAVE TO DO - BEAT THEM THREE TIMES IN THE SAME SEASON ? That'll be how it'll look in that region with them after beating them twice and winning the SEC tourney. That'll be our "reward"

of course

that, and only that makes any sense at all

Everybody seems to agree we are the strongest three seed right now.

I know the committee has taken away their old emphasis on how you play to finish your regular season and conference tournament. But even if you take the emphasis off it, the conference tournament can’t help being -some- part of your entire body of work.

Seems to me it would take a VERY strong anti-Kentucky bias to pretend like sweeping those three particular teams doesn’t move us from being the strongest three seed to being the weakest two seed. That would probably actually be the strongest conference tournament showing in the history of the sport, given the strength of the SEC and especially those specific three teams this year.

I know we all have scar tissue from selection committee railroading.

But I just don’t think them keeping us a three *IF* we pulled that off is realistic, personally.

I disagree. We are already the top 3 seed. If we win the first two games, we have to be a lock for a 2.
To make that assumption, you need to think about who drops down from the two line. I know it can happen, and I'd love to see it, but moving up doesn't happen in a vacuum.

Texas Tech, currently the weakest two seed, has one top 15 win all season. It’s a good one: they beat Houston Feb 1st. But other than that they beat BYU and not even any other top 25 wins all season. They’re seeded just on win/loss record with no bad losses. If the committee needs to find someone they can drop to move us up in this hypothetical, it won’t be a long search.

I used to work with a woman – I won't mention her name – She was prettier than any human being I've ever seen. She was as feminine as a kitten and moved like a bright red rose in the wind. She would grow a set of balls and a full beard before the UK wins three games in a roll against these three teams. 100% not gonna happen…

I'm not sure our team would even survive that stretch of games, just to maybe be the final 2 seed.

I'm fine with where we are at honestly. All I want is to win one game, cement the 3 and get out of there unscathed. I think this team is plenty battle tested already. Our first two opponents are likely going to be a breath of fresh air.

he's exactly right.

Doesn't really matter 🤮

Too much work for the Selection Committee to put in to have to shift anything around or nothing at the last few hours, right ? ;)
Whether it’s fair or not, they probably wouldn’t flip us to a 2 seed if we make the championship unless it’s an easy shift. So say they have Texas AM as a 2 and we get to the championship game, they might flip flop us. I don’t see them flipping us for someone like a Michigan State. The bracket could require a lot of rework to do that.

Some of the gurus have us as the top 3 seed.

A win over UGA/OU, Bama, and UF could push us into the lowest 2 seed spot.

That would add three more Q1 wins, with two of them being Q1A.

I think it’s possible, with a little help.
