Humphries and Wynyard

Like another poster said tonight, maybe Cal will use that bench and put them in. We certainly can't do any worse, in my estimation.

Like the poster said, pull a page from Joe B.'s book and pull the trigger, Cal ! (you gotta do something)

I say F it and play them. They can't be worse, or much worse, than Skal and Lee. The only reason he isn't playing Tai is because he doesn't wanna "waste" a year of his eligibility. If that is the case, please just put him in and see what he can do.

I can'tif they can't beat out Skal and Lee for minutes. Must be playing like high school JV players or something.
They are practice players only . And yes , I've been hearing they ARE actually that bad .
Helen Keller would be an improvement over the front court that is playing. Give the guys on the bench a try.

Why would that matter? He will be going pro after next year right?

I'd at least use them to come in and rough our opponents up whenever the refs start to take over.

If they are going to call fouls on us every trip down the court anyway, we should at least earn them and make the other team regret making us their game of the year. We're hated and booed on the road no matter what we do, instead of giving in we need to be the aggressors and start setting the physical enforcer tone at this point. Be the hated villains that we're already portrayed as. Earn it. Hell, maybe the ticky-tack foul calls will slow down after a few tosses to the floor makes them realize what a real foul looks like.

When we had a large lead, Humphries should have been in the game, to save some fouls. He could have done no worse in the collapse, and maybe we would have had some bigs at the end of the game, for once.

Marcus Lee is contributing nothing other than fouls and an occasional ball fumble. His defense also sucks. What in the hell would we lose by putting Humphries in over him? He CANNOT be any worse at this point unless he drops dead on the damn court. And even then it would still be up for debate.

The New Zealand dude was pissed after the loss. Did anyone see him when they were lining up to shake hands after the loss?

I would like to see Tai just to see what we are dealing with. I see no reason to have Skal over Humphries, NONE. Skal cannot rebound, he does have a nice outside touch but who needs that from him, and Humprhies has shown he can occasionally grab the ball, set a pick, etc.

Humphries got burned bad the last time he played.

Cal plays to develop nba level talent. Physically, athletically skal and lee have nba potential. Maybe Willis does. Maybe poythress. If humphreys and wynyard do not then even if they could help some (not a lot, but 'some') they will not take developmental minutes from skal or lee.

It is that simple.

Glad somebody else brought this up....I think one or both of them are the key to the season...Just hear me out......

We are losing games in the 2nd half, and we have great guards, so that tells me that our inside boys are not only wearing down in the 2nd half, they are getting in foul trouble. Isaac and Tai don't need to do anything but come in and bump some guys around, maybe grab some rebounds, and just put some physicality on the opponents.

Guys our lightweight front court is not getting it done. End of story. We don't need Isaac or Tai to be Anthony Davis, we need them to give us a little Josh Harrelson time. 5 to 10 minutes a game between them.

Am I the only one that thinks they can help this team? Seriously, can they be any worse?

What does Crean develop?

Thanks for your input, you guys have sucked so long you need to comment on a real blue blood?

I openly admit to being an IU fan and also a basketball fan in general. So I will comment.

As for crean? I would rather have cal. But I don't do the hiring. Or have the big bucks to give

So I enjoy basketball even if my team isn't where yours is.

And I am no jerk to amyone

You 100% agreed with a post claiming Cal doesn't care if we go the NIT every year, as long as kids are drafted and added your wonderful losing since 1987 insight.

We have idiot fans that believe this along with trolls from IU and UL...

OK the 100% was way off. I should have said cal puts getting the kids to the league ahead of winning and read the post i replied to better.

But it is true about getting kids their career is top fir him. I commend him for that and for admitting it. Doesn't mean he doesn't want to win but it is not priority one.

I did pick the wrong post to say 100% about.

I am actually a rarity. An IU fan that really likes cal. And can admit it.

and I have opinions.

And we did win tonight.

You are not a real IU fan.

You like Cal.

Admit when your wrong...

We will be reading about how posters from Peegs strung you up from the rafters of that barn (AH) of theirs one day...

Hump and Tai... Should be getting 5mpg from here on out. Whether it's those shitbag officials fault's or not (it's their fault).. We still have to deal with the fouls.

Our frontcourt is weak. Skal can't play downlow, Poy is prone to lapses, and Lee is just too far off the mark.

They will do us no favors in the tournament. Cal is rarely, if ever, in a situation where a section of his team is so void of talent AND depth. You gotta get Tai and Hump in there. At worst, they sop up fouls and that should keep players from fouling out until the very end. At most they turn into a Willis/Jorts scenario, where hustle trumps talent and leads to production.

I don't see how any poster can justify not giving them minutes at this point, just to see what's there after a few weeks of burn.

Anything Hump has done, in the first half of the season, getting like 3mpg, with the shortest of leashes, as the youngest player on the team... Should be completely thrown out the door.

I don't care what mistakes he made in that scenario.. Imo it doesn't matter one bit. Put him in, take some growing pains, and you'll probably get a 6 and 5 big man by season's end.

Cal is stupid. Haha

Here's the thing. Cal can't win with some fans. If he doesn't have 13 5 star players, some people complain. If he gets a handful of guys that are gonna stick around 3 or 4 years, others complain. Throw in the fact that recruiting isn't a science. There is no way to know if someone everybody thinks is awesome is actually not. I figured 4 FFs in 5 yrs would give Cal some leeway with fans, but I guess not.

I agree...get them out there and absorb some of the fouls that are getting called.

They can not do any worse than the big men we have now, the first couple games of the yr that Hump played in looked good..

He wins with me. I'm happy as hell with four Final Fours in five years, and I was one of the few who weren't upset with him over the Wisconsin game. But he drives me crazy sticking with some guys to the detriment of others. By giving the Down Under Duo five minutes a game, not only does that give the other bigs a rest, but you never know if one of those two guys is going to blossom in those five minutes. We see it all the time. Remember the Michigan tournament game? Hell, remember the Duke game?

just a typical stupid comment by a rival. Cal is trying to win. if he was only in letting these guys develop into pros first and wins second Hawkins never would of gotten in over Murray after Murray made boneheaded plays. that blows your theory out of the water. as much as you rivals want to say winning is secondary here , it's just not true. I do think Cal is trying to win with what he has. and it's this simple. Hump and Wyn are just not that good . Cal had schollys and gave both to guys who he had never even seen in person. he also took a avg shooting guard in Mulder and added another guy who has shooting guard size but can't shoot. Skal cost us huge. had he not committed we may of been able to snag a Zimmerman or Swarigan. any other big at this point. Even Diablo shows aggressive play as does Bragg. who knows we put Skal on the back burner and tell him to wait before committing just maybe we get one of those guys instead.
