I attended both games yesterday. Surprisingly good weather during what has otherwise been a miserable weather weekend in Lexington.
-Game 1 was a doozy. We didn't have a ton of offense, but took advantage of Ole Miss pitching early to build a lead and then hung on.
-Burkes came through In the cluthc, and it was really cool to see. He bleeds blue, and deserves every one of these moments.
-Game 2 was a dud. Our offense has absolutely disappeared this weekend, and it's surprising b/c Ole Miss' staff isn't exactly known to be among the best in the SEC.
-Even with our anemic offense, we still had every chance to win the game. 1-1 going to the 9th and some great clutch pitching to get us to that point. But, we gave up a two run homer to a 9 hole hitter hitting .188. Not many balls were leaving the park with the wind last night, but he found the shortest part of the park and it stayed fair. Bummer, as a DH sweep was within our grasp.
We need to win this series if we want to make the NCAA tourney. Slim reaper on the mound today, so I like our chances if we can get this game in. Ole Miss has a lot of power, so our ballpark helps us as long as the win isn't blowing out. Just would like to see more guys get their bats going. At this point, Montoya, Hindle, Cameron, and Brown are giving us NOTHING at the plate. On the plus side, our pitching has been great this Weeknd and that's very encouraging to see after the start we have had.
