How much money is the SEC going to make from this tournament?

Isn't each win worth 2.2 million or so paid out to the conference over 6 years. With 14 that could be a huge payout.

***each game played in. Not even just wins.

That’s why all the regular season games where the team that is a lock gets shafted on the whistle in favor of the bubble team in need of a win. It pays to get the most teams in…and then it also increases your odds of how many total games played each round.

And now we know why those games where UK is pretty much in but their SEC opponent needs to beat us to get in, end up in a loss with weird referee behavior.

This isn't a conspiracy theory.

Look at the lobbying for UNC to get into the tournament?

Look at those games where announcers were saying "if they beat Kentucky, their chances for getting into the tournament go up to *enter some high percentage here*....if they lose, their chances drop to *enter some absurdly low percentage here*!). And then that team wins with refs making calls (and no calls) that defy what we are seeing with our own eyes.

Any time there is money involved, especially in these amounts, you can safely assume shit is going down in the background to ensure things happen to get said money.

Can’t compare how much hoops makes to how much football makes. Football is a completely different (and much bigger) beast
I get football makes more but we are talking 26 million dollars. Would you rather have it, or not have it?? This was Sankey and that Big East dudes plan. UK had to fall for others to rise. Kentucky dominance in the SEC cost the league millions. Enter John Higgins and his merry band. I just hate it, but it’s where we are.

26 Million is one really good bowl game in football it seems like.
Which is why the top teams are protected in football (need representation in the big money bowls and the playoffs) vs the top teams being used to resume build the 2nd tier to bubble teams in basketball.

Hopefully enough to improve the officiating.
The officiating is exactly what got 14 teams in. It’s exactly how the league office wants it. Who’s gonna improve it??? The league that just made the most money ever. I’m sure they will fix it next year so they can make so much less. Arkansas was one example of a team that should not have made it in. Fland went out and all the sudden they are shooting 30 free throws a game and come back and make the tournament. Their win at Georgia was as corrupt as any game we had stolen this year.
