Call loaded up their non conference schedule with cupcake city. I knew getting into conference play would expose their suck! They looked lost and clueless yesterday against the Vols. Even more funny is Cal's post-game. He stated Arkansas worked on nothing but rebounding the last 3 practices. Tennessee outrebounded them by 22 overall. UT posted 24 offensive rebounds while Arkansas had 29 total rebounds lol. I mean, it's comical. Oh, and the salesman also drug out an old excuse that he used in 2022. He decided not to do a shoot around before the game....and he wishes now that he would have haha. Seriously, never ending excuses. I think it's only going to get worse for them, and it's awesome!

I want them to lose every game, but more than that I’d just like to see Cal retire. If not retire, at least leave the conference.

I will follow him just because he’s our old coach who was here and won us a natty and a handful of final fours. Unfortunately he lost his touch and him leaving in conference is gonna be worth watching. I think it’s validation more than anything. They look exactly the same as we did. Flawed, not prepared, and hoping talent takes over at some point in March while trying desperately to beat any good team they can.
Cal finds a way to lose to teams he shouldn't and beat some he supposed to lose to. Read this book before. They could have an ugly year and still send the best of the SEC packing with a loss.
I don't like the ex UK players putting on that red uniform. It doesn't matter who else they lose to this year, I want that win as much as the Louisville and Duke wins. I'll enjoy their losses more after we beat them. Next year I probably won't care as much.

Well said. I agree, they do look exactly like a Cal coached UK team from the past 4-5 years. He's also probably working with less talent this year at Ark than what he had here his last few years. The conference being tough as nails this year is not doing him any favors.
I'm super proud of and thankful for what he gave us here during his run. But his arrogance, attitude, and narcissism towards the program and fanbase make it really easy for me to enjoy watching his decline.
When Cal took over at Arkansas he said he wasn’t changing. He wasn’t lying.
I couldn’t care less about Arkansas.. first year in a long time I have watched full UK games. I expect us to win close games no matter what happens throughout the game. Pope makes great adjustments and most always puts the team in the best possible position to win the game. The game within the game has been equally enjoyable as the game this season. I love watching this team.
Feel the same. I hate enjoying watching him lose, but the way he ran the program and talked down to the fans the last 5-6 years has brought this out in me.
Arkansas has enough talent to win some games you think they won’t. Same shit at UK. No one thought UK would win at Auburn or at Tennessee yet they did. But overall, I still think they flame out in March.
I want him to lose every game and I want him to have to answer tough questions for why he is refusing to play his best players, why he is failing with superior talent, why he refuses to change and why he is okay with his decline.
I want him to admit he was wrong for sacrificing wins for individual kids and the draft.

I agree with everyone. They look exactly like his UK teams the last few years. They will have eye popping wins. They will have eye popping losses. cal will say eye popping things after every game. Also, somehow he managed to turn Davis into a non factor. He didn’t even score against TN.
You can find it in yourself not to. I have no animosity towards him. The last few years were messy, but he left on his own and saved us some aggravation at the end. And if him hanging on a few years too long ended up bringing us a long term elite coach in Pope that’s a trade I’ll make.
He was more or less on top of the college basketball world for a decade and then basically immediately fell flat on his face. He didn’t handle things very well but he’s human just like we all are. Going from being one of the best to being average very quickly would be tough for anyone in any field.
He brought us a title, one of the most fun stretches in the program’s history, and did some great things for the state.
The two reasons that I am glad to see them suck are as follows: 1.) The fans who thought it was such a travesty to lose Cal can possibly see what a blessing it is to get rid of him. Maybe they have seen enough to stop lamenting his departure. 2.) Cal robbed UK of as many players as possible in an attempt to setup the new coach for failure. Well, it seems like Cal and his followers are the losers of this deal which puts a smile on my face.

Eh, animosity is too strong of a word. I want him to lose when I turn on a game and see his team playing. I could get all zen and tamp that down if I wanted to, but I don’t really want to.
I actually want him to lose. A coach Cal run through the tournament would not be fun for me. I’d prefer they underperform and miss the tournament.
If he were in another conference, I would care less. If he were retired, well then I wouldn’t be concerned at all.

He certainly was a no-show at the pregame presser. Trotted Kenny Payne out there again. And this before facing the #1 team in the nation. Cal can’t be bothered with such trivialities.
Cal's lapdog assistant coaches deserve all the crap that Cal shovels onto them. If those guys had any real desire to learn how to become head coaches, they wouldn't be running around kissing his butt while allowing him to treat them like the village idiots. However, they just might be the village idiots. Why else would anyone want to be an assistant coach for a guy who hasn't produced a coaching tree of head coaches at any level?

I thought when he got Nelle Davis he had a legit Final Four contender. But I’ve watched a good part of two of their games now and I barely even hear that guy’s name mentioned. A complete non-factor.

Some of you are ridiculous with your persecution complexes. He took players to set his new team up for success, not to purposely hurt UK. He also couldn’t force anyone to follow him to Arkansas. It’s also highly likely Pope didn’t want a single guy from last year’s team seeing as he put this roster together in precise way.
Why in god’s name would a coach not try to do things to benefit his new school the largest extent possible? Were you upset when he took Wall and Cousins from Memphis to UK?
