If that's the case, Pope had better make a FF at a minimum this year....I think UK fans have had enough of having NBA talent/players who have little to no success is March while in college.Ill start:
Brea
Robinson
Oweh
Williams
Carr
Butler
Garrison
Your turn
I don't think it's really out of the realm of possibility to suggest 5 or 6 of these guys to be fringe nba players with 2 or 3 solidifying a spot on rosters for a few years. Oweh for certain is a future pro. Wearing the Kentucky uniform will get them more recognition. I think there are 3 solid pros on the team but the funny thing about it is I wouldn't even know who exactly they will be besides Oweh. I'd say Robinson and Garrison as well. I think Brea can certainly find an oppurtinutiy as well. The more I see Lamont play and how he has improved his outside shot who am I to try and say he couldn't make it as well.
Colin Cowherd-level moronic take!If that's the case, Pope had better make a FF at a minimum this year....I think UK fans have had enough of having NBA talent/players who have little to no success is March while in college.
And he won't have the excuse of "but freshmen...."
You may want to take your time in reading what I posted...read it very slowly.Colin Cowherd-level moronic take!
I read it very slowly and still stand with the same opinion. Final fours aren’t guaranteed for any coach, even the ones with the most talent.Colin Cowherd-level moronic take!
How many thought Reed would be a high 1st rounder at this point last year?If Brea can stay efficient, I can’t see how an NBA team couldn’t find a role. He doesn’t have the quickness to project as a defender but has good size and doesn’t miss.
Why not a dude shooting damn near 80% from 3 at ummm 6’7?!I’m sick and tired of always hearing “who’s going to be drafted”. Let’s let that drift away with COW being gone. If a guy actually plays good enough while IN college and just happens to play for UK then great - good luck to him. Let’s try the approach of play good in college first - then go on to the NBA.
…and to answer the question - likely zero to two in second round next June. “Maybe” Robinson and Oweh but it’s doubtful to be honest imo.
I would include Brea esp with his dead eye and the fact that he is 6’7.Oweh and Robinson have the best chance.
If Robinson can continue to improve defensively, I can see him making a roster spot somewhere in the league. Guys with the range that he has don’t come around that often at that size. His handle isn’t good, nor is he a particularly effective playmaker but he can get from a dribble to a shot immediately and can do it under duress. His intermediate game is actually an asset and I wish he’d go to it more aggressively. His lack of athleticism hurts and he really could help himself by showing some ability to slash. He doesn’t like physicality but is good enough to be a roster guy imo.I think Brea is the only one that has a chance at anything other than a 2 way deal. He’s 6’7” and just doesn’t miss. People will give him all kinds of chances. I don’t see anyone else’s game really translating. There are a number of them that can be pros for a long time, just not in the NBA.
Pretty solid assessment.Well they’re all old and in college for a reason. I don’t think we have any NBAers but I think we have some stud college players and winners.
Agreed. Don’t really care. I don’t mind to discuss though. Truth is, I never gave a rip where our guys got drafted. It’s one of the sales pitches I never bought into. Just seemed like such a fake thing to celebrate. Most, if not all, of those dudes were NBA ready-ish when they got to Lex. Especially the last half of his tenure, Cal did squat to develop the talent. He just collected it and mostly squandered it.Honestly I don’t even care. That’s a great feeling. I only care about them winning here again.
Because he can’t guard an NBA SG OR SF and he would get limited 3 point opportunities. There is a reason he is not starting. Why not a dude shooting damn near 80% from 3 at ummm 6’7?!
Rex? Seriously? I know Rex isn't exactly beloved on here, but come on man. They are white, can both jump, and that's about it. Rex was one of the best players in the country coming out of HS. He was all SEC 2nd team his frosh year and 1st team his soph year. He was an all-american in a couple publications as a soph. The dude shot 40% from 3 in an era when hardly anyone did that. He was as good of a shooter coming off screen or pull-ups as anyone we'd ever seen at that time. He was equally good off the dribble. He was a lottery pick after his soph year and had a really, really good NBA career while also being a drug addict. The dude could absolutely ball...Chandler can't dribble without fumbling it. He's 1-6 from 3 in his career, and they're all wide open spot up set shot 3s. He hasn't played in two years and I think he'll EVENTUALLY be a decent piece. But at his very best he's an ETSY or Dollar General version of Rex. I just don't get the comparison at all. If Chandler has Jeff Brassow type numbers and career, that I could agree with. IMHO, that's probably a closer comparison. Even that's a stretch. Pre-injury Brassow as a JR was a special player.Chandler has a ton of potential that I don't think we've seen much of yet. Chandler is bigger, stronger and more athletic than Reed, imho. And he has a lot of promise as a knock down outside shooter, too. He reminds me a lot of Rex's game.
Sooooo you dont like the comparison?Rex? Seriously? I know Rex isn't exactly beloved on here, but come on man. They are white, can both jump, and that's about it. We'll see how he turns out. We're 4 games into his career at this point. He's arguably the most athletic player on the roster, already...him or Oweh. He's got good size and his shot looks good...but the very early stats aren't good from outside, yet. Yeah, I think he compares pretty well with Chapman...at this point. Time will tell us both. You're free to have your opinion. of course, as well as to be condescending with expressing it. Are you old enough to have watched him play? I am. I remember his hs career too. I didn't have to google his stats either. Not that it matters at all, but he and I shared a mutual good friend back then. Yes, he was a baller. I hope Chandler is half as good. You can compare players without strictly looking at stats as well, though.Rex? Seriously? I know Rex isn't exactly beloved on here, but come on man. If I was condescending, I certainly didn't intend to be. I'm 49. I wore the number 3 in every sport I ever played from JH on. I wore a freaking Charlotte Hornets Starter jacket (and it was about as ugly as you could imagine) all throughout JH and HS. I idolized Rex, the player. Hell, half of my passwords and PINs are still related to Rex's numbers. In short, yeah, I watched him play. If you did, you should know how far of a reach comparing the two are. Chandler, two years older than Rex (granted after a two year layoff), is nowhere near the player Rex was. What parts of his actual game do you think mirrors Rex? Chandler shoots a set shot. Rex got as high (insert joke here) as anyone and shot an actual jump shot. Rex was REALLY good off the dribble and finishing. Chandler struggles and looks clunky every single time he puts it on the floor in traffic. Chandler does seem athletic, and I'm fully prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt after being on a two year layoff. But when you say, "Yeah, I think he compares pretty well with Chapman...at this point." I'm just not sure what part of their actual games compare. We'll see how he turns out.
