How many Arkansas players go pro?

Glad we don't have to worry about this anymore lol.

And the reason he gets recruits is his model puts them first and gets them to the NBA money as fast as possible. But the wrinkle here is now players can make millions playing college. If he was smart, he'd lean into that while also keeping some talent and experience.

Probably depends what the NIL packages look like for those guys next year. Cal fully expected Wagner to go pro because he recruited Fland, and that didn't happen. So who knows.

NIL can't top what these guys can get in the NBA. The sooner they start their career, the sooner they will get to their 2nd contract.

The question here is, what are guys like Knox and Richmond going to do? They can be very good players next year if they stay, but when you sign on to play for Cal, you aren't signing on to play for more than 1 season.

Big Z is an interesting case, he's a 7 footer that can shoot, but he isn't good moving laterally.

Adou should go, he has an NBA body and great athleticism. Cal can make some phone calls, he's good at that.

Last thing, I think Cal got desperate this year and decided to actually coach to win games instead of individual goals. He had to, his first year at Arkansas was going off the rails and he couldn't have that after his last 4 years at UK.

Boogie and Adou for sure. Knox will likely try as we saw here a lot. Z having a terrible game tonight but has been great recently was getting some buzz might also give it a shot.

I don’t know but Thiero just tripped over himself and threw his head back for another BS call. It’s ridiculous the calls he gets. It’s Arkansas’s only offense.

Back to the question; I’d say they lose Davis and Aidoo for sure.
Fland, Adou, and maybe Wagner testing going pro. I could also see Knox doing it just because that is all he’s been about. I think Brazile transfers. I think Z, Richmond, and possibly Wagner are the only guys who matter that return.

NIL can certainly top what Knox, Z, Wagner, Richmond, and Brazile will make in the G-League next year.

What good is trying to get to a second contract if you can barely land your first one?

None of those guys are NBA-ready. Only Fland and Thiero.

Edwards wasn't NBA ready either.

Cal's whole recruiting pitch is getting guys to the NBA and when you walk into his facilities, all you see is NBA crap.

Then there are the pro days. These kids are showered with NBA talk the whole time they are there. All they need is someone to tell them they can make it and they're gone.

It doesn't help that this season has been a dumpster fire.

The question should be,"How many enter the transfer portal"?
I think a lot of those guys are maxing out their NIL value at Arkansas. Anywhere else would be a significant salary decrease.

Wagner's the interesting one. He's probably making more in NIL than he would anywhere else, his game doesn't translate to the modern NBA at all and Cal started recruiting him when he was a fetus. He's not going to bench him and you've got Darius Acuff waiting in the wings. If I was a Hog fan I'd be praying that another school could pony up a similar NIL number to what Tyson and Walmart are paying him. But that's unlikely.

Edwards seems NBA ready to me.
Maybe he wasn't college ready.

Richmond and Knox have been playing a lot better and it's just in time. 😉

They have 2 top guards coming in next year! Wagner acuff Thomas.
Lot of speed athletic ability. They question is can they shoot enough to spread the floor where they can use that athletic ability to get to the rim!

If BigZ goes that make teams sit in the lane and force jumpers. Ark fans don't realize how much better he makes them even when he is having a bad game. It opens the paint where they can get to the rim! What big will they sign in the portal is the big question.

I believe Thiero is projected in some of the mock draft boards. Fland is generally projected in late 1st round. Knox will need counseling if he can't figure out a way - any possible way - to go pro after the season. I don't recall reading anything about Big Z's mindset (or his camp's mindset - if he has one), but he could get a contract I believe.

As to Cal getting desperate and emphasizing winning more than getting players drafted, I'm not sure that's how it went down. I think Fland's injury simply forced Calipari to play a proper lineup. Fland and Wagner should not have played together. So what happens next season if Wagner is back - and I don't know how he wouldn't be. You have to fully expect Calipari to play Wagner and Acuff together. Who is the PG? Looks like probably the same problem again to me. And if I was Richmond I think I might find a school where I can play PG (a' la Kadary Richmond). Might just be me, but I kind of like how Richmond has looked when he's been in that spot.

Fland is the only one that will be guaranteed to be drafted. Thiero needs to transfer to a team with better coaching and he will make more money from NIL. Richmond and Knox will not be drafted at this time

How many players from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, the Mississippi schools, Tennessee and Vanderbilt will go pro after this season?

Probably Newell, Philon, and Pettiford from that list of schools.
Underclassmen league wise you can add Johnson, Fears, and Collin Murray-Boyles to the three above plus the Arkansas guys(Fland,Adu,Z, and Knox).

NIL changing things now. Money is there to stick around if not really ready.

None of those three have elite athleticism. Wagner and Acuff have average athleticism and Thomas a little above average. It will be interesting to see how Acuff finishes in the lane in the SEC.

Knox has came miles , he looks like a real player . But that team is going no where fast with Brick Layer extraordinaire at the PG . I hope they lose 8-9 or 10 guys and Johnny C doesnt win 9 games next year ... kinda be a record setting year
Yeah Knox could be a real stud and the real key if he comes back. He will get drafted if he goes, especially with what Edwards is doing with the Sixers this year.

I would think most of all of them will go someplace else and play because of their potential, Cal whole plan is to get them to the pros he promised them that and they have more 5 stars than anyone in the SEC he is the king of the one and done, but of course Cal is not a very good coach with all of his talent.
