How is Duke and UofL ranked ahead of us?

Seen it time and time again, UK gets dropped in polls more than any other team after a loss. Look at UNC last year, they had a similar regular season to our 13-14 Runner Up team, except they struggled to end the season, while we finished out pretty strong besides the USCjr loss. We got an 8 seed, they got a 4.
Because they had fewer losses than UK last time the rankings were released. You loose to an Auburn like we did, and you are going to fall below team with less losses than you. Duke has sense lost to match our 4, and UL is still sitting on 3. Tourny seeds matter for who you beat, ranking is what have you done the past week.
Duke's first 2 lossss were to teams that people assumed would make the tourney at least.
We're still looking good for making it as a pretty high seed but Utah has since not looked very good.
Our first two(really all of our losses) have come against teams that are going to struggle to make it(UCLA, LSU) or not make a post season at all maybe(Auburn, Ohio State).
Plus Duke's bad losses were too recent for the voters to adjust yet. When the polls come out Monday we should be ahead of them. If not then you can chalk it up to media bias because frankly we haven't lost at home yet at least and they dropped 2 in a row at home to very mediocre teams(though Syracuse is looking much better with Beoheim back).

ACC bias. But hey, if it makes our guys hungry I'm all for keeping in the bottom half of the top 25. That is until selection Sunday of course.
the Duke thing is a joke . UL at least has less losses though they played no one really in non conference.
Why would one compare rankings on a Sunday morning? The polls came out almost a week ago and most teams have played 2 games since then.
Duke is a simple answer. It's Duke and that is what the pollsters do. UL could be something completely different. Maybe Pitino sent some women to the pollsters house to bump up the ranking.
Our losses are really bad. UCLA is stinking it up. Ohio St. getting blown out every game. Auburn was the worst loss in years.
Duke should not be ranked ahead of us and probably will not be Monday, they have a loss since the last poll. UL has a better body of work than we do. We have 4 very bad losses and only 2 top 30 wins. You may not like the computer rankings (Sagarin, Kenpom, and Massey) but they are unbiased and they all have UL well ahead of us. If we play well and continue to improve we have the opportunity to move up, but we for now we have earned our ranking. I think fans of most all schools would disagree about the polls being anti-UK.

They don't have embarassing losses to UCLA, Ohio State, Auburn and an 18 pt lose to LSU (losing by 5-6 at LSU not nearly as bad as 18)
Because until the last two games we looked awful. Be honest, after the Auburn game everyone is was thinking 10 losses for this team - it may still happen - but based on what we have seen the Cats are starting to look like a sleeper team to win the whole thing. If Murray plays under control and Ullis stays healthy this team has a chance. Of course Alex, Marcus and Derek have to do good work inside. Isaac brings another dimension to this team as well - if he had a better shooting touch he would be the real deal. His hustle, driving ability and rebounding makes him special.

The last two games have been an INCREDIBLE turnaround. So enjoy it. As for the rating, we put ourselves here and frankly was given a favor for being ranked at all

I can understand the UL ranking above us because we beat them on our home court in a close game and since then they haven't had as many losses as we have had. Duke looks very good on offense even though they lose and so image wise they get the nod because as others have pointed out how lousy we looked against Auburn and for me even more, LSU. We have looked much better the last two games and lets hope it continues.
- Us beating UofL at home by 2 points makes that game a virtual wash out…at least as far as rankings are concerned.
- We have 4 losses vs 4 unranked teams. Two of those teams are horrible.
- The ACC is ranked higher than the SEC. There is bias for sure…but the ACC is definitely better than the SEC this year. Anyone with eyes, an ounce of basketball IQ and a TV can see this is true.
- Duke is our only quality win away from Rupp.
- We probably should be ranked ahead of Duke. They have 4 bad losses as well (plus the loss to UK)…and they really don't have a quality win. But…wait till the rankings come out Monday…because we probably WILL be ranked ahead of Duke.
I have to laugh at using the term unbiased because it is a computer model. Totally wrong thinking. What needs to be made known to fans who are not programming savy is what is weighted and what is not weighted as highly in the specific model. I use the term garbage in garbage out...why? Because I'd make a large wager against any of these models as to corresponding outcomes. They never have been the same....the computer models never mirror game outcomes...but for some they are fun. Be Good...
