How in the heck did our bigs get manhandled so badly?

Drives me crazy announcers telling us to go inside. We get nothing throwing the ball in the post. WCS just heaves shots at the basket. Dakari can't get the ball to the rim and Towns constantly misses short jump hooks.

If we ever get scoring from post men and Andrew starts to make floaters lay ups and converts in open court we will be unstoppable

Just lacked effort, which is why this team won't go undefeated. That's not an overreaction, or even an expression of disappointment. It's just that when you're dealing with college kids, there will be a night when we don't match the other team's energy (like tonight) and the shots that Aaron and Booker hit won't fall.

Willie made some big plays, but if you go back and watch, he really got outworked underneath. Simply allowed himself to be boxed out by smaller guys all night. Honestly, the first time where he looked like Willie from last year in taking too many plays off.

Lyles just wasn't tough enough. Made some nice plays on the offensive end, but got his hands on multiple rebounds, only to have the ball knocked away.

Towns came out strong, then just seemed to run out of gas. And Dakari, I'm starting to think losing the weight wasn't a good thing for him. He's gained a bit of quickness, but no additional lift. When he was heavier, he played through people, but he doesn't seem to have the bulk to do that this year.

They didn't come to play. Remember how they all went after every rebound against UL! Tonight they got the rebound if it fell into their hands. We didn't outleap anyone for the ball a single time I can remember. In fact we fumbled away a few that did just fall into our hands.

Just chalk it up to a bad night and Ole Miss playing lights out.

Looked to me like our guards didn't feel comfortable dribbling inside for the longest time. They sagged down in on the bigs. Our guards then passed around the perimeter but not quickly enough to get the D off balance. It was a nice zone against us when our guards aren't playing quick. We would hesitate just enough to allow the defense to recover to cover the outside when we did penetrate the zone with a dribble or pass. That's what three reasonable guards can do when one is out of his mind hot, another is a good 3 pt shot normally, and the third is an experience slasher.

Other then WCS, who still is limited offensively our Bigs have been missing bunnies all year.

they got outworked and outworked in the fundamentals of the game at that, blocking out, proper positioning, getting to position to rebound the ball on both offensive and defensive ends for Ole Miss. Fundamentals showed up BIGTIME at the line as well. Kennedy really had them coached up for this one and they executed EVERYTHING great.

They spread it out and let the guards do their thing. Tempo played well for them. they executed the 2-3 zone extremely well. Kept us out of transition on offense all night long. Just a great all around well played game from them.

It's just one of those games where you have to credit them greatly, be thankful for the win where we didn't play well collectively, but had it in other key areas that got the "W" for us - and leave it at that.

All these years watching college basketball should teach us (and continue to remind us) that in LEAGUE PLAY it is always hard, road league games are usually even harder in the long run. You get these kinds of games at Rupp rarely though. And that's where you just give credit to Ole Miss for bringing it in our house.

No other team in the league is going to give us such a hard home game as Ole Miss, and I am still confident in saying that.

Maybe on the road we see one, maybe two or even three really really tough games like this against the so-called "lesser SEC" teams, but I refuse to ever call any league game for any team a given, you just never know.

That's why we play the games.

Honestly every time our bigs get the ball inside, I have no confidence at ALL. They are usually double teamed, collapsed on and turn it over, called for travel, heave up a brick, or just miss a bunny. Towns started so strong tonight and I got excited but then he disappeared. We need more production in the post.

Few of our BIGS (OR our smalls) move their feet when the ball is in the air from a shot (by either team)...they wait until it misses and THEN try to move (OR just "reach") toward the rebound. I don't think they're lazy, just not been coached to do it in HS and having a hard time with it now. I expect it will get better.

I think the mid range floater was missing tonight. Keeps the defense honest.

Our big guys just don't have much in the way of "quick" post moves. They're too slow in making their moves and they throw up too many jump hooks and other off balance shots. I like the jump hooks, but we take way too many. It just seems like our bigs simply heave the ball towards the rim too often.

Karl has to learn to pass back out when he has 2-3 defenders on him..I saw him go against 3maybe 4 when he had a wide open Lyles on the wing that just passed him the ball..Randle did the same early last year..Karl will get it going..Id like to see him take two 3's per game too..He can shot it..

Johnson wants to dribble everytime ..when he brings the ball down he make himself small..either has a TO or misses the shot...post in the paint then go straight up...Also no defensive rebounds.

Willie seemed to fumble a few balls tonight.., but that will work itself out..He should only shoot 3ft and in...he should get a double double each game..

Lyles looked tentative tonight..Id like to see him shoot the 15fter more and crash the glass for put backs..
