How good are we?

IMHO we are about where most of us expected in year 3
we still have a lot of room for improvement, but each week we will get a little closer

just my opinion, i think a lot of our second half offensive woes can be laid on Dawson
i think he tightened up and started playing "not to lose"
remember he is just getting started as an OC, and i think he is going to be a great one

Coaches are still learning as well. Lots of reasons for the beginning of the 2nd half play calling - penalties, field position, unnecessary risks, had the lead, etc. Could be Stoops stepped in as well.

I think these guys will get better each week.

we are 8-4 good
I would like to think so, but I know that's garbage. EKU and Charlotte, at home, are games where we have a 98-99% chance of winning. But every other game on our schedule will be a war. Besides EKU and Charlotte, the next easiest game is Vandy, and that 1 is on the road. People will leap prematurely and start saying the SEC is down this year, but it's way too early. Our schedule is very tough. Now, we may have a good enough team to handle it. That's a possibility. But I am not going to say that for at least another 2 weeks.

LOL! Our 2nd half woes can be laid on penalties and resulting down and distance problems. Dawson was right to run the ball in the 2nd half in Columbia. Our ground game was a point of emphasis in camp. We ran it down South Carolina's throats in the 1st half. With adjustments, should have been able to do it again in the 2nd half. But holding penalties killed us, and Foster's punting was way below his usual standards. I hope you don't think Dawson introduced penalties to this team.

Enjoy reading everyone's opinions, but our OC is a drunk? My goodness does a poster really think CMS or the university would tolerate this behavior? The poster who stated this should immediately provide evidence to the athletic department. Please see rhavicc's post in this thread.

We are a very dangerous team. Not SEC upper echelon capable, but certainly a team that will command the respect of every opponent on our schedule.

Agreed. Yet, this is a process of continued great recruiting, state of the art facilities, coaching, player development and overcoming the loser culture creates a truly competitive SEC program. This season is another step. Believe.
