Only time LSU fans care about basketball is when UK comes to town.
This year this is one game against LSU that I wish was on the Road this year. I can't believe how horrible this LSU team is this year and overall they don't have terrible players. I am sure that LSU will be looking for another change at their Head Coaching position in Basketball. There is no way with the recruiting that Jones has brought in to LSU his coaching is terrible. After 5 seasons and if they continue to lose this year in the SEC he will be under .500 in the SEC league play. Its now been 5 years and I am sure that LSU will be looking for another Head Coach soon.
I'd say this is the year, finally, they will get rid of him whether they care about basketball or not down there. I think they will be tired of being embarrassed on the basketball court enough to say he is finally out.
They never recovered from blowing the 31 point 2nd half lead to U.K.
That alone sent their basketball program back to the Stone Age.
I'd say that will get him, he won't be there next year, low attendance speaks louder than words. The only reason he has lasted this long is because he is an alumni.
LSU cares more about signing a five star defensive tackle than winning basketball games. Even the UK one.
He will be gone after this season. Kermit Davis (MTSU) former Brady assistant and Rick Stansbury are in the mix as replacements.

I think his buyout was insanely high last year, and like it's been said, LSU doesn't care about basketball. Since his buyout drops significantly this year they just waited until it was cheaper to fire him. He is def gone this year. I think they end up hiring Stansbury away from WKU and that 5-star big guy he has committed goes with him.
Last night I watched a few minutes of the game & all the empty seats were shown. He will be gone at the end of the year.
He smart can talk x's and o's but he can't get his players to listen. And he can get them play hard. But don't see him there long if Shag wanted that job but he makes to much on ESPN.
He will be fired after the season. Actually some local rumors that it could happen Sunday if they are going to do it while the season is still going on but I don't think that will be the case. His son is a senior at LSU's preparatory school (UHigh) so no reason to keep him after this season.
There are only two times the LSU fan care about basketball. When UK comes to town and when Shaq was there. One of them ain't ever happening again. To me it shows just how good of coaches Dale Brown and John Brady were.

I don't think he will. I am in the bunch that thinks that regardless of how little they care about basketball, they cannot go any further with Jones. Too many other SEC schools that care more about basketball, have ponied up and hired some fairly good coaches. LSU will be forced to change directions after this year.

LSU has really put basketball on the back burner, I think baseball may be higher on the priority list down there...maybe even softball as well...
At this point it's going to take more than a coaching hire. They need a complete culture change, similar to UK football. The fans are going to have to demand it, the wallets are going to have to pay up, and then maybe a worthwhile coach will be willing to take it for a spin...

Yall always say this like every other LSU coach in our lifetime hasnt been trash or like every other coach besides Cal in the SEC isn't trash. Like Andy Kennedy is really getting it done at Ole Miss.
You made a great point! Football is obviously the main sport but the next three are baseball, gymnastics, and golf. The crazy thing is, I am not kidding.

Scared to say that I agree with you but I do whole heartedly. He is a terrible coach.
