I dislike the vols as much as anyone here, but they didn't skate. They had to vacate wins for 2 season under Pruitt, lost some scholarships, had the number of official visits they could host reduced, fined 8m and 5 years probation but no post season ban.
UT didn’t skate. They forfeited wins AND scholarships for a few years. The scholarship reduction hurt them for a couple years.

Well, regardless of whose crimes were worse (I'd say that theirs were objectively worse and more widespread), their school and administration decided that they would not lie down and that they would fight the NCAA tooth and nail.
Ours, on the other hand, laid down. I have no idea why, in this day and age where the NCAA is completely feckless and without moral authority, any school would ever take any sort of meaningful penalties or sanctions from them without legal challenge. This was a really dumb and weak response by UK.

Tennessee didn’t fight the NCAA “tooth and nail” over the Pruitt allegations.
In fact, Tennessee was commended by the NCAA for their level of cooperation and transparency.
Exactly, they were ready to get rid of Pruitt and were willing to take whatever came to not have to fire him and pay his buyout. They are the place that rolled over and ask for another.
They absolutely did. Pruitt was giving McDonald's bags full of cash. UT decided that they were not going to take punishment lying down. Cooperating with an investigation and "bending over and taking it" are two different things.

Well because we were probably guilty of what was alleged. We turned ourselves in too. If you cheat be honest and take your punishment. UT and UL knew they cheated and would not admit it. Tried to sue and buy their way out. I don’t want my university to be like that. Actually, NO institution of higher learning should be. America today tho.
Pruitt was giving out bags of cash, UT turned themselves in to fire Pruitt with cause to avoid his payout, not because they are the poster child for ethical programs. If he had been 11-1 they would have gotten him nicer bags. Vol insiders telling the truth about vol cheating, lol, yep, that will be 100% accurate.
Tennessee self-reported the violations to the NCAA. They also conducted an internal investigation and provided all of the evidence to the NCAA.
Tennessee did not dispute the allegations and they fully accepted the sanctions handed down by the Committee on Infractions.
At no point did Tennessee fight the NCAA on the Pruitt violations.
We always lay down to the NCAA. They are toothless and have been for a long time. Just pretend to put up a fight and they will lay down. Kansas basketball has been caught cheating for decades and always seem to keep their wins when they need them..
