Houston and Sampson. Doing it his way.

You post as if Duke just mysteriously had a bad shooting night. Huston only lost 4 games for the entire season and none of the losses were greater 5 points because of their defense. As much as I want Florida to win, I am afraid they can't handle Huston's physicality. Florida will look good in the first half and will likely run out of gas just like Duke. If Duke and friendly whistles didn't beat Huston, I don't see Florida without the whistle beating Huston.
Let’s see what happens. I hope for an entertaining game but I’m predicting an easy Gator victory.

Houston has another bad shooting night and Florida routs them. Houston won their title Saturday night, this is the perfect storm for a non-competitive championship game.
The Gators and it won’t be a close game.
Heard same before Duke Houston game. Understand your rationale and the Gators are very good, but I would not count out the Coogs!

32 years of coaching and his style of play hasn't led to a championship? Not to mention he's been in easy conferences throughout history giving him higher seedings than his team may deserve.

Obviously kudos for the two final 4's in the last 5 years but how much was that predicated on covid? I don't know I'm sure you can tell me.

Preface I'm not saying he can't coach proof is in the pudding. I just wouldn't want him on UK sideline.
Sampson is the kind of coach that will take his team and beat your ass. After he has done that he could then take your team and beat his team's ass. He is a brilliant basketball mind. I would take him on our sideline in a heart beat.

All 3 of Houston’s L have been overtime.
Florida has escaped twice with Hail Mary shooting .. Houston has a style that can give Florida trouble.

I won't nitpick with words, but ...

I think the term "great" is overused. I am guilty of it myself. For me, following college basketball for 50 years now, I think the Mount Rushmore of College Basketball coaches is

Rupp
Phog Allen
Coach K
Wooden

not that there aren't other coaches that can be considered GREAT, but I think any short list has those at or near the very top.

Sampson has paid his dues. Is he a great coach? No, but he is very very good Amongst the best active coaches now. I agree that I would put him in the Tarkanian category, with better x's and o's. And as I think about it, I'd put him behind only Pitino as the best coach, right now, out there.

Houston has had several years of really bad injury "luck" (or curse, as we know all about) if you go back and look at the past 3 or 4 years, if it wasn't for some of those injuries, this might be a different discussion as far as greatness and titles.

But titles are not the sole measure of greatness. Sampson has consistently been among the best coaches. I hope he can come thru for Houston finally and get the title, unless Florida goes cold, or that Amazing Houston defense can make life hard enough, I'm afraid they ain't gonna have enough firepower to beat the Gators.

Gonna be a good one.

Then why can't uk take advantage of it
According to Matt Jones, a lot of the money dried up because they were fed up with Cal, and is now starting to come back into the program. The most prominent UK booster family in the horse industry that UK has ever had was disassociated from the program in the late 80s. I'm not sure if they are UK boosters now or not.
