break into practice then. cal is trying to win games...not appease fans latest irrational itch.
Good point ! This is what the op was saying. If we get a big lead let him play for 4-5 minutes and see what kind of player he is ? Really simple to understand.
Dont go getting pissy with me Bosty, I doubt a 6'10 260 kid could screw up a big lead or lose a game in 3 minutes.
Hell, if Skal can play for > 20 minutes and not give us anything and Briscoe can go 1 for 30 from inside the arena and we still win, I'd take my chances with giving him a few minutes.

Again, I just want to see what type of player he is.
Is he physical? Does he fight for position? Is he strong in the paint? Can he jump and disrupt shots? Does he have touch around the basket?
I dont need 40 minutes to make a determination on any of these items.
BTW, Skal has played > 20 7 times and is averaging 18.7 mins/game.
and how many of those were november games? lol skal has played 20+ minutes twice since 11/30. 9 game span. but feel free to go on thinking he is getting all this playing time. paints a better picture for you.
dont think cal has it in his head the need to make you and others happy by playing a kid..."just to see what type of player he is". i find it a bit absurd that its a real issue for you and others. "i want to see this kid play"....lol
of course the irony is that if we did have a 25 point lead, let this kid, end up winning by 15...how many threads on here will be talking about how Cal pisses away leads and is a terrible coach? damned if he does, damned if he doesnt. no wonder why his people are always looking for an NBA deal.

Haha! I can only speak for myself Boston Cat, but I can tell you that I don't have some visions of grandeur for Wynyard or irrational expectations. It's amazing to me that I posted this thread with only one idea, just wanting to see Wynyard get a chance to play some minutes in a game that seemed to be ideal for that purpose. Yet I get this kind of reaction. It's almost comical.
I'm not trying to tell Calipari how to coach or who to put in. I'm not thinking Wynyard is the savior. He's a new player and I'd like to see him. Is that so hard to believe?
Who is to say if it is good or not? What is in area 51, does bigfoot exist, who was on the grassy knoll next week we may find out that our opinions were wrong on all 3

it isnt. 3 minutes of basketball at the end of a blowout tells you nothing. but i'm sure the 1 rebound he collects in that time will result in seeing more threads being created discussing how he should get more playing time.

Again, the problem for Tai W. is that he is at best 5th on the roster in terms of front court depth chart. 1. Poy 2. Lee. 3. Willis 4. Skal....they are a clearly your 1st and 2nd string 4's/5's respectively. Plus UK has not done a good job of blowing many teams out this year anyways so how much is enough to justify putting in the 3rd stringer tonight I wonder?

Bc there has been this drum beat to play him as an answer since UCLA. He's not ready. He has been playing in the basketball bastion of NZ. This guy is for next year and it matters to me bc I want to see a winning formula not playing guys for the sake of playing them
I don't care regardless either. I was just trying to nicely explain why he may not play. It may have nothing to do with him...but rather our inability to blow teams out for the most part.

not sure if i understand why there is an argument? I'd like to see what kind of player Wynyard is too; it's understood that he's here more for next year than this. It's simple curiosity, not a matter of looking to this kid as a "savior" for this team.

Skal had 4 rebounds in just 14 mins tonight. Bad game to make this dumb joke IMO.
And as I said...the 5th or 6th big man can't play if UK cannot hold a big lead.
