Hoops Summit thread

Other than likes of peterson, Aj, boozer, flagg,

only five stars freshmen that can be core part of a deep rum team must be very physical and strong, like JQ, Tounde...

Two Kentucky boys playing for their country before they put on the blue and white! Special!
Sat the bench mostly boozer and dybantsa show god the slobbering taking place over the boozers will make the game unwatchable when they are on the floor .

I realize that usually most of the higher rated guys get the bulk of min in these games but 5 min (JJ) and 8 mins (MM) is a joke.

Let me guess. The USA committee has a high ranking official that went to Duke? Did they have a Duke grad calling the game? And one of the refs was a Duke grad? The CEO of USA Network is a Duke grad? Did I get that right?

Duke slobberfest now from the cbs side

Grant Hill is chair of USA basketball.
But that has nothing to do with this event.

The Hoops Summit is run entirely by Nike. And is just an exhibition all star game. It has no connection to the official Team USA program or actual FIBA international competitions.

JJ and MM with 5 and 8 minutes? That’s BS. UK should tell Nike to piss off and switch to whichever shoe company that will make them a priority.
This is why I don’t watch these kind of games, all it is, is a street ball showdown with ball hogs controlling the action. It also has coaches who favor schools that have connections with certain players.

This game wasn’t a street ball showdown though . It was pretty competitive .

Just sucks we didn’t get to see our guys play more .

You do realize that Nike runs USA Basketball? Go look up the selections for the Olympic Team and some of the controversy in who gets taken as a "fringe" guy over another and their complaint is often directed at Nike having strong influence.

Don Showalter was in the building-he's got a ton of say on the Youth Team USA Level despite no longer coaching it.

To say it has no connection to Team USA is 100% false.

We should have prioritized Yessoufou over Wilson I agree, that kid is gonna be a good one. I always loved his game and motor. His mid range game needs work, he gets lost sometime driving when the defense collapses but man he’s got some talent.
And plays hard

JJ did not look comfortable at all when he was out there. He was a step slow. I'm going to chalk it up as not getting enough minutes to get in the flow but man he didn't look good. Moreno was fine and he battled defensively. I feel like he definitely deserved some more minutes just to muddy up the paint area on defense.

Nah, that would be Cam B. But Tounde is not far behind. Very good player. I love a player like him who just plays his heart out.

I don’t know, he’s a smart kid from a smart family. My guess is he figured out what was happening in real time and started forcing shots because he knew he wasn’t going to be on the court long.

To think, my Duke hate was waning somewhat. I actually like Flagg and didn’t despise this year’s team as much as I usually do. But watching Half Pint Boozer and the token 6’8 white kid play more than our guys…and the announcers slobbering all over Big Baby Boozer…I think I’m all the way back.
