Honeymoon over?

Embarrassing loss to say the least and we know more losses to come in the sec. Concerning to see them playing so bad late in Dec against a 4 loss team. This team lacks intensity and that falls on the coach. I don’t see much improvement over the last month and that’s surprising. Sometimes a loss makes you better so let’s believe that will happen. Hoping they will right the ship but a lot of fans are not happy tonight and I’m sure a lot will be directed at the coach.

LOL. He threw this first team together on the fly and had to drive three hours to get Carr. Get out of here.

Not yet. We’ve done more at 10-2 than the other guy did in his last 4-5 years as head coach. Granted a 20 point beat down is embarrassing, but not ready to give up yet. I say the win at Rupp against UofL but a full week of not playing a game caused the lackluster performance. Credit to Ohio State for playing their game and doing what was needed to win. We folded and never fully recovered.

We came into this season and most felt this was a rebuild year.

Pope didn't get a chance to recruit the players and basically had to put together a team through a bunch of portal transfers.

So why now that we've had a bad game is the honey moon over?

He still gets a pass for this year for me.

It's going to take some time here.

Not yet, because Pope beat Duke, Zags and U of L but he better get his ish together and fast.
3-2, with losses to unranked teams.
They will have to find solutions on how to play SEC teams. It does not appear we are difficult for quick, athletic teams to defend against us. We are a good team, but not a special one.

Lol,, none of the players are hardly UK type players.. That's nobody's fault being they were thrown together late within a month.. I don't know why some of y'all expect a final four from these guys,, but you do,, so never change.. Ha..
I still believe this team has the potential to make that kinda run but we have to fix some glaring issues. We need to start running our offense and generating open looks again, we need to defend way better. We need to adjust to physicality too. Also getting off to a good start would help.

That’s why we must rely on ball movement. The stagnation and one on one play lately is what I’m most disappointed in.

It's a losers mentality to use the last 4 calipari seasons as a measurement of success this season. Raise your standards a bit.

Let's compare to caliparis first 6 seasons. This is UK and that's what we should strive for and expect from Pope over the next half decade or so.

No it is not. In sports, you are measured by what have you done for me lately! Another Cal apologist. The dude was broken we both needed a separation!

having to deal with rival fans, rival fans trolling pretending to be UK fans and the Cal shouldnt have been pushed out people is far more upsetting than the loss. We all knew we arent a top 10 team but it was fun being ranked high while it lasted. all along our goal was to do decent this year, get in our class, get better athletes and players in the portal and just keep building .

If Pope cant handle it or do it at UK we'll start to see it next year and it will be obvious or he'll figure out the players he needs to win in the SEC and how to handle it and do well. This year was never going to be UK 1998 or UK 2010 ... It couldnt be with having no returners.

I will say as each game passes by I am having less and less faith in this season.

Going down big vs Duke, Gonzaga etc should have been signs. Clemson and Ohio St should be signs.

I think we are a good team. But we haven't really looked all that impressive sans some late surges in a few games.

Believing they have the potential is right,, but not expecting it like a bunch on here do.. That has to lead to living a miserable life for some..

That’s a “fat and lazy UK fan” mentality to think that the name Kentucky automatically means we win every single game. Jesus. We had NO PLAYERS eight months ago. Yet, we are 10-2…

What is hard to understand about that?

This . When the roster was completed I predicted 10 losses and was going to be thrilled with it . I will say that I REALLY underestimated how good the SEC was going to be.

I’d say Pope is doing a good job. There just aren’t enough great athletes or intense personalities on the team this year.

Some of our guys look sleepy.

lol, If that’s the path we should take then we should compare Pope to Pitinos first years . Even Pitino had more players on his roster though.

This!

Pope is going to have to get some Alpha’s. From what I can tell, Johnson and Lewis are and if we land Wilson, he seems to be.

Moreno is not an Alpha yet for sure. I would love to see him get more fire in the belly and get on his teammates a$$ a little when they don’t even try to get him involved.

If Pope wants a player led team, he has to recruiter leaders/winners.

Plenty of solid unranked teams. There’s over 360 D1 schools. There’s a lot more than 25 good teams

Exactly why I can not stand how Cal coached those last 4-5 years and how he left the program after squandering talent including a consensus NPOY. Imagine Oscar with the proper supporting players to compliment his strengths?

Cal took “elite FRESHMAN talent” in those initial years and took those teams to numerous wins when only a small, handful of schools we’re trying similar recruiting tactics. However when the rest of the NCAA took notice…what happened? The talent pool went abroad and thinned. Cal had to work harder to find his next greatest group, but what happened? Usually we missed on a great 3-point shooter, or driving/slashing scorer, shot blocker, or wicked small forward…and so on. Oh sure we still won recruiting rankings but for what results? After 2015 Cal lost his mojo and eventually Robic and *boom* he got exposed.

So to say it’s a loser mentality to compare Cal’s last few years to the current team, when we have a coach that took a bunch of portal players and actually put together a solid team is a bad take. Cal could have done the same, but NO WAY does Cal win against Duke, Gonzaga…possibly even UofL this year with the team he “could” have had here. Remember Aidou was in the portal…who (along with Fland) has carried that Arkansas team to this point. I’d even be willing to bet Wagner, and BigZ would have transferred as well.

So yet again another “young” team and a coach trying to convince fans to “enjoy the process””.
