I am shocked at some of the posts that went from love to well various negatives about the players with our great win over Florida to a sound defeat by a so-so Georgia team. Hmm, what's the difference so far in our losses? Away! Clemson which probably is at a Georgia level manhandled us on their home court similar to Georgia. Complaints about the refs are fine but it still doesn't excuse the loss. But, as much as I never appreciate about other teams losing, Tenn just got manhandled away at Florida. It seems you truly have to have way superior talent than the other team to beat them on their home court in our conference.

The other thing seemingly ignored but I know I observed this much earlier in the season (and have posted) that our team is similar to the Bama team a couple seasons ago. Live by the 3 and die by the 3. We were hitting great against Florida with Brea on fire. Georgia? 6 out of 25.

If there is a disappointment it is our defense. I thought Pope saw this against the Zags and implemented a zone to make up for that weakness (along with awful rebounding). Our defense simply has not been good. We beat Florida by having a great offensive showing but even in that game our rebounding was terrible and the defense was marginal. Florida did score 100 points and had second and third chance opportunities.

I love our team and they have over-achieved. But, road games are going to be a challenge and I am not down on Pope or the team. We are lucky to have won games and be at the record we stand even now.

Please remember Cal f'd us by taking everyone and even with that would you want the Arkansas team instead?

That’s why it is imperative to hold serve at home.

135-5 on the season for SEC home teams so far.

Home teams are 10-3 in this young SEC season.

So far, only Auburn, Miss State, and Vandy have road wins.

Auburn is the best team in the country and barely beat Texas, a team at the bottom of the SEC.

Interestingly, Vandy has one of the three road wins and one of the three home losses.

#1 UT lost by 30+ on the road last night.

SEC road wins are going to be hard to come by.

With that in mind, losing at home is devastating to your record. So teams will fight like there is no tomorrow at home so road teams have to be far superior to get a win.

UGA had to win their home opener against us or risk falling behind in the SEC race. Desperation can be a big motivator. Can’t lose your home opener. UK lacked that sense of desperation. They already have a SEC win.

Almost always bet on the home team this season in the SEC.

We were favorites in all three (3) losses.
We were underdogs in two (2) of our three (3) big wins.
We play better when we are the hunter, versus the hunted.
This is why I like it when we are not rated highly ... high rankings simply make the bullseye BIGGER and our veterans are not used to being the hunted. This will be, and already is, a learning process, hopefully, and they will quickly adapt to the challenges that the Kentucky Effect presents them. As the coach, this applies to Pope, as well ... he's a big dog now !!
GO CATS !!

Home court advantage in the SEC is nearly impossible to overstate this year. Unfortunately we will be on the low end of that totem pole because of SEC officiating

I think the UT/UF game is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of the crazy scores will see the rest of this season.
