I was finally able to watch our game from last night. Didn’t expect the outcome, I’ll be honest. I agree that we got a friendly whistle. Not sure if that’ll be something y’all battle all year on the road or if that ends up being more isolated. Sometimes you get a bad crew or a crew has an off night. I’m not sure I subscribe to the idea that the refs are always out to get Kentucky. Not saying we didn’t get a favorable whistle last night. Kentucky is the crown jewel of hoops in the league. Doesn’t make sense to me that you wouldn’t protect a top seed.

We are an improved squad with more talent than we’ve had in a while, so we should be able to win our fair share of conference games. I’m thoroughly impressed with Butler. That kid CAN PLAY. Brea not being fully healthy surely played in our favor.

I saw where y’all are concerned about rebounding. I haven’t been able to watch all of y’all’s games, so I can’t speak to the repetitiveness of being out rebounded, but we will probably out rebound a lot of teams. Somto, Asa, Godfrey, and Abson are pretty long and athletic guys. We haven’t had rebounding like that in a while.

Refs definitely threw off y’all’s rhythm. Brea being hurt didn’t help. Being on the road is tough. Playing a team away that just got beat might be tougher. I wouldn’t draw too much from losses in this league this year unless they start mounting at an alarming level. I don’t think that’ll happen. Cats have a really good team and should make noise in March. Probably can beat anyone on a given night. Not sure I’m in love with UK’s front court this year. Guards can play with anyone.

Appreciate y’all letting me hang around here in hoops season!

Hey GTD

How’s it going? I agree the Dawgs are much improved over last year. I have to tell you though the Dawgs football team let me down in the play offs lol . Good luck the rest of the way hope we get another shot at you in the SEC tournament and I hope it’s the championship game how’s that lol !

What’s your take on your former coach being now an assistant at Kentucky. Is that a favor return by Pope for being hired by him , or can he bring anything at the table, as far as coaching, recruiting or relationship with league?

Trust me we never get a good whistle and the SEC has never cared about protecting us. Watch all our games home or away and compare with any other power.

Kentucky didn't get a favorable whistle at home against Florida either.
Was no where near as bad as the blatant cheating the refs did at Georgia but it definitely felt we were playing 5on8

Yeah I hate to use excuses, but the last two games have been fishy.

Bad whistle or not, UK got manhandled and they didn't respond. If you lose by 2 points you might have room to cry about calls. We simply got outplayed.

Getting screwed by refs is getting screwed by refs whether you lose by 2 or 20. You might not have an argument they cost you the game if it's 20 but you can still cry "foul"....no pun intended.

You’re looking at the “why would the league give UK a bad whistle” from the football perspective.

Basketball- the league gets paid 2m+ for every game they play in the NCAA tournament. It pays to have as many teams in the tournament as possible. That means sacrificing a name brand marquee team to bolster the middle of the conference resumes at times to help push them to the good side of the bubble.

It’s why the top teams often benefit from whistles in conference play in football when they are in a tight game with a .500 league team…..but you often see the opposite in basketball road games given the same scenario.

Bad take. Two things can be true simultaneously. Our effort wasn’t good enough AND we got absolutely hosed by the zebras

It is not a bad take. We lost the game because we got outplayed. Always complaining about the whistle sounds like little brother. You could also complain that the pretzels have too much salt on them but they didn't cost you the game either.

False equivalency. Pretzels do not directly affect the outcome. Officiating does. Disputing that is neglecting the obvious truth.

What is up with the Georgia players infiltrating the huddle at the UK bench during time outs? It happened more than once which leads me to believe they are coached to do that. if true, the players need technical fouls and the coach needs to be fined and/or suspended by the league.
