Told you guys that I would check this out and find out the truth on the situation where there was a video of a cop going down to visit a fan. First, some background. There are police at every game. Most are UK police, who are under the control of UK, and then Lexington-Metro officers, who UK has no say whatsoever. In the incident that was reported, it was a Lexington police officer who spoke to the fan in question.
I spoke to the Committee of 101 section leader who is a close friend of mine. In fact, I trained him to take over for me when I decided to become a non-working member. He investigated the incident and here is what he found out. The fan, who was standing, was never asked to sit down. Some people who were sitting behind him came up and complained. They were told that the man had every right to stand where his seat was, as long as he didn't infringe on those on either side of him or stood on the seat itself. In the earlier thread, I said that I was sure that was the stance that UK and the Committee of 101 would take. Apparently, the complainers were not happy about that information and made comments to the guy. The guy, in turn, turned around and cursed some of those who were getting on him. The 101er never asked the officer to intervene. The police officer took it upon himself to go down and tell both sides to quit arguing, and to the standing guy, specifically, to not use bad language.
The guy was never told he had to sit down or be removed. That was a Matt Jones fabrication. UK should have addressed this when KSR was trying to make a big deal out of it, but I guess they chose to let it die rather than stir the pot.
