To me, Skal is already offensively much better than Henson ever was in college. And hes not far behind on defense, if hes behind at all.
It's not as ridiculous as you think. Skal isn't as athletic as Durant and doesn't handle the ball as well, but who does at that height? It's a comparison, which means he could be a Kevin Durant type player, it doesn't mean that we think he will match Kevin Durant's production down to the one hundredth of a percent in field goal shooting or anything. Who do you compare him to? Since you are so comfortable shooting down everyone else's comparisons, what do you got?
This video just screams AD body with a way more polished trey lyles jumper. I feel like we will see a lot of shots from the elbow and fall away baskets.
I hope you feel good about your internet bravado. I'm sure you're the only one with a good comparison, so we should all just bow and kiss your shoe...
What is wrong with the KD comparison? Nothing I said was ridiculous. He plays a similar Style and has a similar build. I'm actually surprised nobody else has brought it up in this thread yet. Like I said earlier, I'm not saying he is quite as talented and may not even succeed at the this level, but he plays the way KD does and has a smooth shot just like KD does.
Please tell me where I offended your sensibilities in this comparison.
Personally I don't see AD at all. I mean he has a similar build but I don't remember AD having the multitude of offensive moves that Skal has shown. Plus I don't think Skal will be anywhere near the defensive presence that AD was. Just my opinion of course.
It's like he thinks that we think Skal is a clone of Durant and that he is the same exact player Durant is at this very moment. Wait til Skal is in the NBA, you will see him handling the ball and shooting from all over, there is a reason he is considered to be far and away the top prospect in college basketball right now.
AD body. As in hes a lengthy skinny forward. Not projecting him to be AD by any means

Seriously though, I am not saying that he will be anywhere near KD's talent. He is probably 1 of the top 15 players in the world, so that would be just silly to say. There is a difference when you say someone plays like him and when you say plays as good as him. I was saying the former and not the latter.
I knew what you meant. I just think he plays a different stay from AD, but perhaps I am wrong.
KD - Skal comp is the worst i;ve ever read. I can at least understand AD.

Not true at all, no one compares Marcus Lee to Durant and he is 6'9 skinny and can jump. Again, we don't think he IS Kevin Durant, but once Skal is fully developed in 5 years or so he will be doing some of the things that Kevin Durant can do, he will be in the same stratosphere. I don't know why that is so hard to comprehend, but I know some of you are only on this board to tell people they are wrong and don't actually offer anything up themselves.

I had this exact thought. Cal and his assistance have an idea of what a big man should be and while they do do an excellent job of developing big men for that role, they don't really utilize all the tools some of them have to offer.
Do they not utilize those tools, or force them to develop the ability to play in the lane?- to their benefit, BTW.
People were on here 4 years ago questioning whether AD could play center, some even wondering whether he was really a small forward, since he was so skinny. AD is so gifted he was probably going to be great no matter what, but I think Cal had a huge hand in him becoming the monster that he is now. Cal made him learn how to play in the lane, and AD's incredible ability to finish around the rim is one of the things that separates him from just about everyone.
And there was no way in hell that Karl Towns was going #1 overall without Cal forcing him to develop a post game. No chance. The whole reason that no one even considered Towns for #1 overall in his HS class was because there were big questions about his ability to play in the post.
Cal gets these guys for 1 year, and it makes perfect sense to have them develop the things that make them more efficient on offense. If you have to hold them back a little bit from drifting to the perimeter, that's probably a smart trade-off.

Yes. Because what we really needed last year was for Karl Towns to be shooting long 2's, and 3's. That's why we lost to Wisconsin, btw. Karl didn't utilize his long range abilities.
Even though you are disagreeing with me I actually agree with this post. I NEVER said he would be exactly like KD, in fact I went out of the way to express this. I feel that his style reminds me of KD and you may have nailed it with the "6'9", skinny and can make a Jump shot" comment.
Like I said earlier (and some are using as an insult) I don't watch the NBA but what I have seen is that KD makes TON's of crazy deep shots with a smooth stroke. I wasn't commenting on his or Skal's ball handling ability. (You can review my comments if you feel otherwise) His SHOOTING style reminds me of KD. That's all I compared.
And not all skinny, tall lanky guys can shoot so in that regard my comparison holds water. Also from Skal's mixtapes he has the ability to create his own shot too. So it's not like he is just a statue out there either.
The thing is, we all have opinions and you may not agree with mine and that's fine. It doesn't mean it is wrong or right, just an opinion. So please everyone just allow others to express themselves without having to degrade them to make yourselves feel correct.
Telling someone you think they are wrong is not degrading, but when you tell them that they are stupid because they have a different opinion than you is. Also are we talking about the same scouts that have gotten so many other things wrong too? They offer the same thing we all have... an opinion.
I mentioned earlier that KD was a special case and that I didn't think Skal would match his talent level. However if you can't see the similarities in his SHOOTING style then we will have to just agree to disagree. He shoots similarly to Durant, much more so than any of those other comparisons you mentioned.
Now that Britney Spears can't see what I post, I want to make fun of his trashy UK tattoo in his avatar picture. I didn't want to hurt his feelings because he obviously thinks it looks cool. Haha he said he has like half of the board on ignore, what an emotional little 7th grade girl.

As of now Labissere is Labissere & no one else, Maybe late in the season we might be able to compare him to some one.
He's not a wing, and he's never going to be a wing. That's why its a silly comparison. He'll be a face up pf/center.

Henson couldnt score outside of 2 feet as a freshman. Roy actually did a great job developing him over the course of 3 years because he was extremely raw when he got to UNC.
Skal to me, appears to be light years ahead of where Henson was. His fundamentals on offense are very strong and he has great hands and touch and Henson had none of those.
I think Aldridge is a good comparison for Skal.
He's definitely not Anthony Davis. Has Davis length and touch but doesn't appear to have Davis motor or defensive instincts.
I've watched Skal several times.He put on a show at the MCHF..He will be much better than the UK Davis..AD didnt make many jumpers till very late in the year ..Skal can shoot the 3 at a high rate ..He will be deadly with the turnaround 10ft jumper and jump hooks too..He's a few lvls below AD on defense as we all know, but might still be SEC defensive POY..Im guessing he puts up something like 15/6

That goes back to Sam Bowie. I don't think I ever saw Bowie sink one of his corner shots. And he took several.
Several years ago, I wore a pair of those ankle length socks with some sneakers. My wife told me they were for women and don't do it again. Flash forward to 2 weeks ago. Same with tights. I won't wear them because they're too much like support hose. (I may be old but I don't have to look even older.) FSM knows that most of the women who wear them shouldn't. They're designed for 5'5" sylphs who look like refugees from ballet class. Is there a hint of sausage to your figure? Don't wear skin tight clothes. But what do I know? If young guys want to wear them, fine. They're "ironic". Like ear studs. In the airport over the weekend, there was a guy who wore ear studs that were like small radar antennae. He had his 3 kids with him and some kind of MMA message on his tee shirt. I imagine all the hard-edged, bright-line divisions about such things went away 30 years ago. Or more.

Just looking at his face, yes. He does actually look like him. LOL. But that's where it ends, Skal is much more of an offensive player than Henson. Well, he is just much more of an overall player than Henson actually.
Can you read m8..The post talks about Offence ..Yes Skal will be a much better offensive player than the UK Davis( not the NBA version you see now) and 15/6 seems about right..UK davis got most of his points on dunks or within 8ft of the basket..Skal can shoot the 3 ball and we will see him make jumpers..
