I'm just curious but how involved is a major D1 coach involved in play calling on average. I know there are exceptions but I'm talking generally. I'm also curious as to how much Stoops is or is not involved in play calling? Does he let Coach Elliott have free reign and change only when he feels it's nessasry? Is there any situation where he makes or changes any of Coach Dawsons' plays? O yea......GO BIG BLUE!!!!

IT'S A PARTY, IT'S A PARTY, IT'S A PARTY!!!!

It honestly just depends. Nick saban pretty much runs the defense with kirby just being his assistant. Elliott has a little more say on defense but stoops is very involved with it. On the flip side, stoops might not be a offensive specialist but has a say in what kind offense he wants. For stoops he loves running ball because in order to be successful in the SEC you must do that.

He said during his post game press conference last week that he's not involved on a play by play basis. Let's his coaches do that, he only makes game management decisions, like running out the clock on that last, game-sealing possession. Could have been talking about only the offense, could have meant overall. But that's all the answer i have.

Last week on the TD Patrick ran in, during the timeout I could see Stoops asking Dawson "we have 2 plays. What do u have?" I could see Dawson saying "we can run a zip then (I think he said) power off if the clock stops." Stoops was happy with what he said and told Dawson ok do it then let him have the huddle. I think he likes to be in the loop but is hands off for the most part. I do think he tells them when to milk the clock, attack certain positions and things like that. Maybe gives Eliot a hand on when to attack also but not really call the plays. Like when to blitz and when to sit back. Things like that.

This is basically what I assumed but wanted to hear some more imput.
