Haron Zrno

You’re high if you think Chandler only gets spot minutes
I'm not sure whey everyone thinks we have to get another shooting guard. I think we will see a big jump in Chandlers minutes, production and shooting percentages next year. He shot 35% on the season from 3 but was 13-25 for 52% over the last 10 games of the season.

I love how everyone falls in love with that next guy based on a highlight video.

He looks slow. They never put on ball defense in a highlight video. I doubt he can stay in front of an SEC wing. If that is the case, he isn’t any better than Noah.

He may be good. But you can’t tell from this highlight video.
Based on the schools recruiting him he must be pretty good.

Curious why he decomitted from IU. Does our resident Hoosier have any insight on this? Was he recruited by the previous regime?
When Woodson retired I looked at his commitments for 25 and this was the only guy worth a damn.
From what I gather when Defriesinthebag was hired he ghosted this kid, so he decommitted.

This is the BIGGEST thing our fans are dismissing for next season!!!

Chandler is ready to break out!!! He can shoot, drive and defend. He needs to work on his passing, but that will get better by playing with better players in practice everyday.

The kid is a natural 2 Guard and I can’t wait to see his growth as a player going forward.

Yep I agree and think people discount how long it takes to get back to this level of basketball when you have taken a 2 year hiatus from it. We were just starting to see flashes of the player he can be by the end of the season.

Keep in mind, it is to his benefit to name as many high level schools as possible. It drives up demand.

Again, he may turn out to be a really good player. However, we are getting down to the end of the portal. Some of these schools may be a little desperate for a wing.

Chose IU originally over Gonzaga, Wisconsin, K-State, etc.

He'll be 21 next year, so another older guy.

I was a little groggy this morning and for a second thought there was a player wearing a top hat at the 1:50 mark.

Per Graf UK involved with this IU decommit. 6'7 wing played in Bosnian league and averaged 17 points. 43% from 3.
I love players from Europe, they seem more mature than most American players. And with his ability to shoot the 3 and with him being 6'7" he won't have any trouble getting his shot off. He's the one missing ingredient we've been needing to make a serious run at the national championship next year. SIGN HIM UP TODAY & LET'S START THE SEASON TOMORROW!!!!

Good size and he can shoot, that is basically what we need at this point. Wouldn’t be the worst pickup IMO.

Devries did not want to pursue him. Zrno was chasing a bag of cash with Woodson and apparently Devries did not want to use up NIL budget on this kid. FWIW, Zrno's agent stated that he was trying to get IU re-interested, but the agent's calls were not returned:

"Stevan Petrovic, Zrno’s agent at Agency 55, has reached out to DeVries four times — two texts and a pair of phone calls — but hasn’t received any response, Petrovic told the Indiana Daily Student in a phone call Monday. Zrno’s camp said they first reached out to DeVries on March 18. When the Hoosiers’ staff didn’t respond, Zrno decommitted."

“We waited for Indiana to come back to us and get in touch with us,” Petrovic said. “Never heard back from him. That was the only reason why we decommitted because at that point we had to go ahead and move on from Indiana. It's nothing that Harun wanted to do — absolutely not — but we could not wait anymore on Indiana to get back to us, and they never did.”

"Petrovic added he “just wanted to make things clear for Hoosier Nation — it’s not something we wanted to do.”
Indiana Athletics did not provide comment on the situation."

He actually reminds me of Brea...the way he moves (not cat quick), his shooting form (he keeps the ball high as he moves into his shooting form, and he has a pretty quick/high release like Brea).

Just from the highlight videos, the one major difference I see (or maybe don't see) is a single dunk, so even though Brea wasn't exactly a high flyer, Zrno appears to play below the rim more than Brea.

Zrno looks more like a three. Petrovic looks more like a one. Would be nice to get both of them. Petrovic would give us another great ball handler and driver.

I agree... I think you can add either guy but not both.

Add Zrno, then move Oweh to the SG, and Jasper backs up PG/SG, CC backs up SG, Kam and Zrno battle for starting/backup SF

Add Petrovic, JJ/CC battle for starting SG, Oweh starts at SF/Kam back-up SF.

Mo D splits time b/t 3 & 4
Jelavic plays mostly 4 (maybe some at either 3 or 5 depending on matchup)
BG splits time b/t 4 & 5

He didn’t decommit. He just wasn’t retained. He’s called and texted Devries and he won’t respond. Because he’s not good enough.

Technically he did not de-commit from IU. He committed under Woody. DDV came in and did not want him. Wouldn't even return his agents calls. So technically he was never re-offered. Most IU fans and insiders figured he'd be a 10mpg guy at best. Trevor Andershock at Peegs.com did a write up on him after his commitment and in the nicest way possible said "this guy does not excite me".

Personally, I like his video. I think a tall guy who can shoot the 3 and dunk can find a place. But I think he is pretty slow and probably a poor defender which is why DDV didn't want to keep him. He honestly felt like some sort of last gasp Hail Mary offer by Woody to somehow keep his job. Woody over-offered him $$ that he wasn't quite worth.

FWIW, all of the media stuff selling supposed UK 'interest' in Zrno that I've seen is solely coming from his agent; the same guy that had the stones to reach out to the IU student daily paper and sell the story of Zrno's decommitment.

Maybe the interest is real and maybe not.

Indiana's new coach I don't think likes foreign player or maybe don't want to recruit them to Indiana. That being said some big time schools had foreign players like Florida, and Duke. Just saying...

Is he better than Wilkerson?
I said if and part of that will be subjective, part will be a question of how he fits his new team, and part will depend on how it all plays out. But he’s got better height for a wing player and averages more assists per game. All while shooting only one percent worse than Wilkerson from three in what may be a more competitive league. If the people are correct who are saying he’s more of an asset defensively than Lamar, he could very easily be a better get at least for us.

The thing about Wilkerson he was on a really bad Sam Houston State team. He played in a pretty bad conference. He is going to have to share the ball on his new team too, so I wouldn't be surprised if he averages anything from 8 ppg to 15 ppg.

Absolutely hilarious if we can come back from IU stealing Wilkerson by stealing a better guy from IU. Especially if we can do it for less money.
DeVries didn’t contact him. His agent claims they haven’t heard from IU at all. IU isn’t recruiting him. Not sure why though.

Not sure. His agent isn’t very good from what Ive heard. He decommited the day after DeVries was hired. Then his agent puts out a story about how IU ghosted them. DeVries has zero intentions on recruiting him for some reason. It was also strange to commit to a dead man walking coach.

Yep. And all that happened after Zrno decommitted so it’s just sour grapes and spin control if you ask me. May even legitimately be that they are very busy recruiting and see pursuing a voluntary decommit as diminishing returns on their time investment. If we steal himI don’t particularly care how we steal him.

I wouldn’t call it stealing him. That’s a bit of a stretch.

Our roster is in good shape. Listening to Pope on BBN tonight interview, he is very selective. He will take his time and get players that will not be afraid to play on biggest stage, shared the ball but also play for the name on the jersey.

I would not be surprised to get another international player. They typically :

-have great fundamentals , shooting, passing , dribbling * check for Pope system
- played against grown men * check for SEC physicality
- are experienced players * check to learn quick a new system
- played in Europe in front of big crowds * check against not to be intimidated playing in Rupp and other hostile arenas.

So in an article I read this guy was committed to Ky first then decommits in January. Then commits/decommits to IU. I don’t see anything on any recruiting sites so I think this article is BS.
