Hard to Watch!

Arkansas has to feel like the dumbest university on the planet to hire Cal after watching up close and personal the crap that Cal gave UK his last 7 or 8 years. They had no reason to believe that Cal would be able to do better at Arkansas than he was able to do at UK.

Yep, Arkansas is going to lose pretty big to number one team on Tenn's home court. We shiz the bed last week against Ohio State on a neutral court, I'm not gonna crow too much until we go down to Ten and do better than Arkansas.
No matter what we do at UT, we have 3 top 10 wins and I am going to proudly crow about it. Cal stole as many of UK players as he could thinking it would prevent Pope from performing better than him; however, Pope is showing that he can build a respectable team out of spare parts from other teams and still outperform him.

To be fair, Jerome Tang and Chris Beard both turned down the Arkansas job before they went after Calipari. In a world where UK can't even get Scott Drew, I don't think Arkansas was in a situation where they could be very picky.

There were plenty of other coaches they could have gone after instead of going after a burned out has been. They thought they were crippling UK by taking Cal. Well, they got just what they deserve. There are plenty Popes around college basketball who simply are not getting chances just because they are coaching at smaller schools.

It took everything I had to watch the first half of the game. I wouldn’t know where to start when critiquing how bad Arkansas was. Tennessee didn’t look good either.

It is called Arkansas Arrogance.
They got the perfect coach for that.

Usually, the good Hog fans that come here, I'm feeling for you junkyardhog ... and all others, I feel badly for them having to suffer through this. I really do. The faithful, good Arkansas fans deserve better than what CCC peddled to make them THINK they were getting a steal on a HOF coach hire.

It all happened the way it had to happen, I guess.

So keep the chins, up Hog fans.

Cal's team there will get better, I just don't know where that ceiling can be with CCC any more, these days. I lost faith in him as a coach in 19. Never was the same after that 2015 UK team ... such a shame. He could have done SO much different and better. But he doubled down instead of adopting the changes and moving forward from a failed philosophy.

His legacy is secure. I am grateful and happy he was coach for another glory run at Kentucky.

It is a new day. Best of luck to him, but he's just gonna have to get used to losing to UK again

What I love most at the moment is these veteran guys - Pope can tell them during the game what they need to change, like putting our bigs out on the perimeter to pass to our cutters.

Cal couldn't do that if he wanted to - because every guy he had just didn't know enough about basketball to take in the moment coaching.

Its why Cal has to resort to GOOOO and RUNNNN. Its all he can teach during a game.

It is hard to watch some of the best players in the country stumbling around the court because they are totally ill-prepared to play. If Cal can't do more than yell and scream, he needs to retire. Whatever coaching skills he once had are gone.
I don't think Cal ever really had any true coaching skills. He was or had good recruiters, he was a good promoter and he knew how to stroke ego's. But as a real coach, he is not close to top 100.
