GYERO

I've had no luck with the traditional methods for picking out a watermelon. Thumping, scratching, yellow spots, webbing... all garbage. Just go down to the farmer's market, pick a good variety (sugar babies and sweet gems are amazing), in season, that isn't too big or too small. And then, of course, profit. Probably the world's greatest raw food.

Nothing discredits a chef quicker in my book than undercooking eggs. Runny whites... GTFO. Soupy scramble... gag.

Homemade focaccia pizza last night. There's potential, but will have to dial in the bread thickness. The focaccia itself in incredible and easy. Bon Appetit's no-knead recipe.

Early summer is nuts around here. Beginning in mid-May, we have a ~6 week stretch that includes 4 holidays and 10 birthdays, all of which involve a family gathering. On top of that, kids are home all day and baseball is in full swing. Makes any other extra-curriculars impossible.

Capping it off with a DFW visit to see even more family. Will be eating my weight in tex mex and bbq. Bit of a hike, but may venture over to Goldee's. It's the one hyped up spot around there that we haven't yet. Gonna be tough to unseat Cattleack. Here Come the Meat Sweats (s/o Brian Eno).

It's been two days. Bout time for another basketball practice video, ain't it?

Elly damn near cycled up the Yankees yesterday. Kid is on fire.

Happy Chase Burns Day!

I thought about that and realized I'm not familiar with Pope's defensive philosophy enough to know if he has ever full court pressed consistently. This has to be his most talented and deep squad he's ever had, will be interesting to see what route he takes.
I don't think he's ever pressed or played zone consistently. He'll do it from time to time in spots to try to change up the flow of the game. Before this year, he likes to switch up defenses quite a bit out of timeouts for 1 possession and would trap or zone. He calls it " throwing punches" but we didn't see much of it last year.

Last year we got mostly straight up man, icing pick and rolls (trying to force the action the other way) with spots of zone and pressed late when down out of necessity only.

I could see him switching more this year 1-4 when Mo and JQ are playing the 4. Maybe 1-5 if they're playing together. He'll probably hang his hat mostly on man to man again though. We could be one of the top 10 defenses in the country just playing straight up man and not risking giving up some easy buckets by pressing. Would like to throw more "punches" this year though just to change up the flow.

We were 145th in steals last year; his last 4 years at BYU they were at 230, 81, 333, 327. So I think even with a deep roster, you won't see much press it's just not something he prioritizes. He's had deep rosters before but hasn't pressed much.

Going back to yesterday's discussion regarding Jasper starting, in his coaching career he's started freshman in 154 games in 10 years so I found that interesting. He's not been afraid to start freshman but I still don't see Jasper cracking the lineup early on this year at least.

I don't post much anymore, but I did want to get on here to let everyone know that isrichiegonnastart is a homosexual.

If you have to ask, you can’t afford it.
The MLB has seriously jacked up the TV fan viewing experience, and it infuriates me.

For a short while, you could just subscribe to the network/app, and all was good except for local blackout games (Reds for us, obviously). I’m okay with that.

Then they, without warning, decided to start licensing out “exclusive” games to various networks. Marquee, Apple+, etc.

So I’m paying for “all access” every season, and you suddenly decide “well…most access?”

And yet my bitch ass will keep paying it because I really have no choice if I want to see the majority of Cub games in a season.

I hate everything about streaming/apps.

-fan duel through Amazon os 99 bucks a year.
My MLB sub is on auto-renew and has been for several years because I trusted those greedy pieces of shit until now, so this season wouldn’t have made a difference anyway.

But am I to understand that FD now has every MLB game? Literally every game?

Fine. Stand your ground. I’m actually not even mad, I sort of respect it.

But you’re proving my point. It’s still one. More. App.

And then it will be another. And another.

This shit is stupid and out of control. I also fully believe in capitalism and a free, competitive market. So, I honestly can’t really complain.

As Geese would say, “Take a break.” And I am. But ****, I hate what streaming has become.

Ya'll need to learn how to pirate shit with a good firewall, eastern European link and pop up blocker. Us UFC hounds have been doing it for years.

Stream everything in 4k directly to my big screen / profit.

Does the Timberwolves (who have one of the biggest names in basketball currently) selling for $1.5B settle the Luka debate?

Why would it? Unless you are insinuating if he was apart of that franchise it could have sold for more?

FYI the sell happened in 2021 and has been in dispute since. Sadly for the selling owner every sell since has gone up and up which I’d imagine has created a sellers remorse to some degree.

- Edit to add a note on the Celtics savvy trades of Jrue Holiday and Porzingus saving them 180M in luxury tax.

Without Tatum it’s a complete rebuild there.

Maybe they can take all this savings and draft picks to go get Ja Morant out of Memphis👀

We’ve morphed into a Braves home tbh (to be honest) so we actually get to see the occasional game on tbs (turner broadcasting station) Watching one atm (ass to mouth)

Ah, I completely missed that part. Surprising that valuation was still only 1.5B even in 2021 when Charlotte sold for double that two years later.

I suppose the market moves fast.

Some would call it the Luka effect.

Anyway, the damn Cubs man! Men on 1/3 with 1 out and PCA up to bat, and Craig Counsel calls a sac bunt which ends up only moving the guy from 1B to 2B. Next batter is out so still losing 7-8.

When things are bad that’s the crap you do.
