GYERO

I can't keep up with all of UKO's social media handles, but I do miss checking in on his Twitter daily to see what sort of ridiculous bulls*** he's spewing about the Reds/Elly de la Cruz. The rest of you I'm sure are relieved, but it was fun for me.

Quite happy to see all the retro hate on the Big Johnson t-shirts. That reference didn't really come along until the 80s, and caused me a lot of grief.

Years later, my mom urged us to name our first son in honor of her brother Harry. While my wife sweated that one out for a minute, I just shut it down quickly, with no explanation.

My mom never really understood but there's no way I was going to explain it.

My old man randomly bought me my first No Fear T-shirt about 2 years after the peak of No Fear. I didn’t want to tell him I didn’t want it, so I told him I always wore it under my football shoulder pads.

Ridiculous...

The BS is his hype.

I saw a child in a Big Dog t-shirt at Good Friday service this weekend. I noticed it during the somberest song, which was the best possible juxtaposition.

ETA: Said child was not baby logic.
Holy Cross Latonia, old man comes down the aisle sporting his Easter white MAGA hat. Had the good sense to remove when he sat down in his pew. Those old guys still have their manners.

💯 - from age 6 to 14/15, my annual birthday with Dad was to drive to Evansville, straight to Toys R Us video game wall, then lunch at a Mexican restaurant called 'Hacienda'. Only Mexican we knew in Madisonville for much of that time was Taco Johns, we finally landed our first actual Mexican junt in my early teens iirc. So it was always a treat to grab that special quesadilla and ample chips & salsa on my birthday. Had some skillet cookie we'd crush for dessert. 😊

-My parents would have literally beaten me if found with a Big Johnson shirt, but I definitely wanted the golf one.
Elbracero in Madisonville was the first "real" Mexican joint I remember. Originally located right under the train bridge on N. Main. Then opened a couple more, One being the old Sunshine Cafe then Codys on Chelsea Drive there behind McDonalds.

Herrm came to see me at Caravan in Louisville a couple of months ago. It was surreal....he came by himself, and he and my wife and I chatted it up before and after the show. Great to see him, but I never got around to actually asking why he didn't pop into GYERO anymore.

-If you didn’t like toys r us as a kid you were lame AF, IMO.

Honestly I hate that my kids don’t have a place like that to go to now vs say a Walmart toy section or gamestop for games.

- Had a few Big Johnson shirts. Parents were divorced so my dad didn’t give a rip if it pisse mom off. Of course I couldn’t wear it around her so it often played as an undershirt until she wasn’t around.

Bart Simpson, No Fear, Skidz, And1 and a few other Tshirts were littered throughout PRP and even Jtown when I moved there in 93.

- I’m to the point with recruiting that I literally don’t care how stacked we are and feel like if Pope can go 15 deep then F it!

He also better not hesitate to sit anyone not going 100% with that depth.

- I flat out loathe Tennessee, so the fact that Anent is there is just fantastic. Stupid skinny gold digging 1 year little bitch, IMHO so that place suites him perfect.

- Wrestlemania on Easter had my youngest going bonkers! When his dude Cody Rhodes lost last night he took it out on old dad and whipped me pretty good. I couldn’t stop laughing so I eventually had to play dead for him to stop and go to bed.

- NFL Draft week. I guess go Cam Ward to my Titans……..meh.

-Stone Cold should lay off of the Stevewisers before operating heavy machinery. He had a close call with a 4-wheeler last night that they were fortunate it wasn't a lot worse than it was.

-The Travis Scott interference in the Cena/Cody match was stupid. Should have culminated with the Rock or Heyman/Rollins getting involved.

-I think Aberdeen and BG's percentage from 3 will improve as their playing time increases. Lowe's shooting efficiency will improve due to our system.

-My 2 least favorite Cats ever-Willis and Hood.

-I wonder if Perry will be back given he hasn't realized a statement to that effect yet.

-Some of the veterans that the Reds picked up (that most of the fans weren't thrilled with) have been great-Singer, Hays, Trevino.

-Thunder won their first playoff game by a cool 51 yesterday. I'm a Lakers fan but Minny matches up scarily well with them defensively.

-Is there anything worse than those folks in Kroger trying to sell you stuff like Spectrum? If I'm in that store longer than 10 minutes, something bad has happened to me.

-Lemond taking it on the chin today for his portal misses was justified today. (speaking of folks who take it on the chin-in a work related matter his crazy ex once played the "don't you know who we are card" with me). I'll tell that full story on the next GYERO podcast.

-Wish the godfathers of this thread would post more.

I had a "Buckwheat Sings the Hits" T-shirt I talked my Dad into buying for me as a 13/14 year old. It had the songs listed like "Fee Times a Mady", "The BahBah of DaBill", etc but with the Little Rascals visual rather than the Eddie Murphy one. I wore that shirt out the summer of 1984.

My aunt suggested at the time it could be seen as inappropriate but I just thought it was funny and she was ridiculous. I thought Eddie Murphy was the funniest f-king person on the planet at that time. I would have worn an "I'm Gumby dammit!" T-shirt just as gladly.

Fast forward 15 years or so later and I'm watching some sort of "America Undecover: Racism in America" thing on HBO and they are interviewing some Klan dude who has a store in South Carolina or Georgia selling racist merch, stuff with Confederate battle flags, swastikas, etc., along with several racks of various "Buckwheat" shirts.

Another video game memory..driving across town to video store (no longer there) next to Durango’s to get those hard to find Nintendo games like pro wrestling.

I remember my brother and I literally staying up all night playing all 100 levels of the Bubble Bobble we rented from Blockbuster. Good times on a summer night.

Field of 68 seems extremely butt hurt about Aberdeen leaving Florida for Kentucky.
I listened to a couple podcasts/YouTube videos. Were they the ones who basically asked why give up being a hero in that hotbed of basketball called Florida only to go to Kentucky and be forgotten after you are done? Or things like that.
