1. Defense was ok to outright bad most of the season.
2. Some games we looked either lost or completely uninterested.
3. Multiple 20 point blow outs.
4. Rebounding was hit or miss.

Most of that is explainable by having to slap a team together quickly. Some of it isn’t. Some is explained by us essentially trotting out a high mid major all star team and he can fix that.

He outcoached some good coaches too. We beat some really good to great teams this year. It’s all fixable. His offense is good and fun. And that sells in recruiting.
-Defense improved immensely; we were a top 20 defense the last two months of the year.
-2/3 were mostly due to injuries; we were ranked in the 300s in roster continuity.
-Rebounding was due to an overall lack of physicality on the roster. That needs to be addressed in the portal; we need some dawgs.

Conversations I think Pope has this off season. Garrison is not going to be a promised starter, but will have a chance to build himself into a servicable defensive player and can get 20+ if he does, must work on fts in off season become a beast rber. Perry likely is a 10-15 min a game guard for the next season if he returns. Oweh must work on his shot mechanics and he is our go to guy. Noah should kick ass in the weight room and is a key cog for the future same for chandler.

Will be very interested to how he builds continuity in this era as its a delicate portal dance with the immense pressure the job brings. I do think the cap helps but are we going back to mcdonalds bags of extra cash or do they just fear the tax man? Always going to be ways to game the system. How far will people go now that coaches have been actually wire tapped.

We have the right guy who can adapt as needed and handle it all. Optimistic as I have been in nearly a decade.

It was Mark Popes second season ever coaching in a power 5 conference. I would imagine, at this point in his career, that he will probably get better.
He probably already has, right? 10-8 in the B12 last year and the same record in the SEC this year. But control for conference strength and the unique circumstances of building a roster from scratch, etc.

-I think I’d prefer to bring in better rebounders/shot blockers like Gwath or Bidunga to pair with BG. I just don’t know if a flip can be switched to make him improve much in those metrics this point.

-Perry is going to be to be hard pressed to get that many minutes next year. With us adding a PG (meeting with Demary today) and having to compete for minutes with Jasper/Acaden/Chandler/Oweh.

Give me Smith or Brendan Thomas for PG.

I agree about Perry but I don’t think it matters. Just keep getting better and JR/SR year he will be a contributor.

I prefer Demary over Dedan. Bigger, stronger, more physical, much better defender and rebounder and has had success in this league already. He’d take defensive pressure off of Oweh.

He’s better in pnr’s, contested shooting and shooting off the dribble as well. Got really hot towards the end of the year and really improved as a shooter this year.

Their catch and shoot, transition and iso numbers are similar. He averaged as many steals this year than Butler had in his best steals season (1.7).

Dedan is a slightly better overall scorer and passer. He’s a lot like Lewis and Jasper though and it would be nice to have a dawg in the backcourt with them that would complement them well instead of a clone of the freshmen. He does have better range and is better at shooting uncontested.

This roster needs as much defense and rebounding as it can get via the portal. Also, Pope prefers bigger guards.

Multiple reasons that I’m happy that Cal is gone. A nice benefit is that I still enjoy watching the tournament this year. The past few years I couldn’t stomach watching after we were knocked out. All because we all knew that we weren’t on the same trajectory as most other teams who were successful.

Felt like old times yesterday meeting up with buddies, hanging out at the hotel and bars, being amazed as always at the amount of Blue, and then walking to the arena for a huge tournament game.

Even in years when we've won the whole thing, seeing those experiences come to an end for the season is always sad. 😥😥😥😥

The game demanded the exact skill and athleticism that we just didn't possess this year.

What an incredible year. That entire senior class laid it on the line the entire season. Despite having played more than half of the Elite 8.

Grab two guards, two forwards, and a big guy. Keep everyone and we're going to be dope.

Pouring one out for Kobe Brea step backs.

Shew, TT is taking Florida to the woodshed defensively.

Kerr gets another year, but has he said he's going to spend it here? Or does he have to (according to some bylaw that I'm not aware of)

Supposedly he's asking for more than were willing to pay, and he's okay with taking less than he's asking from us to go play in Europe and not have to take classes.

If Alabama played any damn defense I think they’d clip these FR from Duke. I still think they might, but Flagg might go for 50 tonight too!

I think Bama has a good shot. If they shoot anywhere close to what they did Thursday it’s on and I think they have the athletes to give Duke trouble. Plus it will be interesting to see how the freshman handle the pressure. +7.5/8.5 whatever it is I like but I think Bama can win outright

Bamaduke, will probably come down to the "whistle", and we all probably know what that means.

It's a tired old story, but the Dook worship is just almost more than I can stand. (volume down)
