GYERO

Andrew Carr getting healthy along with Lamont being the tip of the spear really spurred our defense. I can't sing that guys praises enough.

We have a chance at a really solid nucleus of Oweh, BG, Chandler, Noah and Perry along with solid freshman additions and portal guys that fit our mold.

One underrated aspect is the lack of a superstar means the lack of the superstar attitude. Our guys are grateful for the opportunity and we, in turn, are grateful for their efforts.

What a feeling.

Am I insane (well, yeah probably, but that’s a different conversation and thread…), or did DraftKings not originally have our game on Friday set at 9:45 and then 10 last night?

Yeah, I had been drinking, but I distinctly remember it because I hammered the ML on UK as soon as the odds went up and was annoyed at how ridiculous that would have been.

Our defense got rocket scienced-up.

Brea's development has been huge. He came here as purely a shooter, now plays D, makes great cuts, can take his man off the dribble on occasion, get to the bucket, and hit mid range jumpers.
Can't say enough about Brea, that guy has really turned into our most complete player. For someone who came in as one-dimensional, he's the guy I trust the most in every situation.

- The last time I felt pleasantly surprised about a UK tourney outcome was 2014. Similarly, I couldn't stomach the thought of losing to Louisville in the S16 that year. As a tweeter earlier this weekend said, if Tennessee was playing the Taliban, I'd be wearing a hijab. But in contrast to 2014, if the run ends to those orange assholes, I'll still be pretty damn happy with this season and this group of players. I'll stress out on Friday, but for now, just enjoying the ride.

- Naturally I grabbed some fresh UK gear after the game (although it's not game gear until my Untouchables shirt becomes unlucky) and was reminded . . . there is a lot of WACK UK gear out there. Honestly, since Fanatics took over most team merch, there's a lot of terrible gear. I wish there were more retro options on places like Homefield, Homage, etc. Penis tongue Wildcat >>> birds boning Wildcat. Please give us a redesign, Nike. It's time.

McCollum to Iowa

How many times has Wayne pleasured himself to Mac McClungs mix tape?
Zero times. Look pal, it's simple. The goal of a mix tape is to get teams excited about you. If you start it off with you just standing there by yourself underneath the basket getting a rebound and barely getting 3 inches off the ground to lay it in then it's a rough start.

If I'm a honk, I'm showing a few dunks and then just me bombing 3's. Simple stuff.

There's nothing like the buzz around Lexington (Title Town) when the Cats are making a run in March. It's everywhere, it's palpable.

^I remember making that same observation / post on here before, probably more than once. But definitely not since at least 2019, and further back to 2017. As Clown said, once you lose it, you learn not to take it for granted.

I'd almost feel bad for people who live in Lexington who are die-hard fans of other teams, and then I recall, some actually chose it, so they can marinate in their own stupidity and mediocrity.

Sprinkles

Also, if there’s a foul on Amari… and goes to TV timeout, you can bet he barely grazes the front of the rim on the FTs. It’s so damn predictable.
I hate how they go to timeouts when FTs are about to be shot, they used to not take the break like that and would wait until the next dead ball. It ices shooters.

ALSO - what an advantage to have (a) experience; (b) shooters; and (c) guys you can trust in the clutch.

Brea / Butler taking jumpers and FTs, and handling the ball at the end ---> complete, 100% confidence.

Those two are just like so many guys who have beaten us too many times in the past 11 years - nice to have them on our side.

As is switching in Almanor to hit FTs - and having a coach who is smart enough to do so.

Been a while since we've had those luxuries.

That was an estimate of the tip time by DK.

- Was wound up and started The Americans over. Never finished the last 2 seasons anyway so it’s something to buy time between weekends.

- Damn it feels good to wear this KY BLUE today. UL fans just look away and don’t want to be bothered.

- at UT we didn’t have Butler or Robinson(is that right) and at UK we lost Butler with 8 to go up a bucket and won by 10.

I’m scared Indy will change the depth on shots, but I think the boys that should shoot won’t be bothered by that.

- Perry didn’t play at all yesterday which was odd. I guess he may have really gotten hurt?

- I think Arkansas can easily be TTech.

If Purdue is on they can overcome Houston’s defense.

Arizona already beat Duke at Duke right? Shew please let that happen!

And I think Ole Miss will beat Mich St.

- 3/5 kids are home sick today. I’ve been dealing with whatever this season brings for 4-5 days.

Please let’s get past this 20 degree to 60 degree phase of spring with all the allergies!

My sons were so thrilled at the end of the game and seeing the Cats make it to the Sweet 16. One is a Senior in HS, the other a freshman.

It dawned on me that they were in 6th and 3rd grade the last time that happened, which seems like a lifetime to a kid.

We all are thrilled and excited because it's been too long since we've experienced this level of enjoyment. It's easy to forget how young people have simply been robbed of this for a good chunk of their lives.

Almonor is a perfect 8th man on a roster. Sometimes you need him, sometimes you don’t. Hes got a specialty skill and he plays to that, nothing more/less.

How he played while Carr was out was a tremendously underrated aspect of our season.
He's like one of those weird screwdrivers (for tamper proof screws) or a set of Allen Wrenches.

(I once assembled a portable basketball goal for my son with a butter knife and one of those metal nutcrackers)

Maybe one of the basketballs on here can debunk this, or elaborate, but it seems like Chandler has improved light years on defense. Not saying he's Gary Payton, but he seems to have the athletic skill to get the job done.

This account might be the most insufferable one on sports X. I would have blocked him, but hoping for a meltdown from him Friday night around 10pm.

It took me 9 months to get that portal transfer highlights music out of my head, and now it's back. I mean, couldn't they change it up a little bit?

Duke is very good but haven't been tested since December. Their competition has been putrid and now isn't the time to find out how you're going to respond to adversity. There was some metric that Duke had the most 30+ point wins this season and Gonzaga had the second most ( which is why the metrics kept showing Gonzaga as a Top 10 team). Kinda like our 2009-10 team, great pieces, but we played maybe 3 teams with a pulse and it was a problem. Here on out is when you find out what your made of.

Yes, Louisville and UNC are considered "test". Funny, you failed to mention Cooper Flagg didn't play in both of those "test". Also, where is Clemson and Louisville today ? Same as UNC, gone fishing.

This team is insane. We playing with house money the rest of the way.
Cannot wait to see the teams Pope puts together when he has longer than 5 minutes to do it.

Might lose Friday, might be in the FF. Who the heck knows with this team. But damn UK basketball is fun for a change.
Hell I think Big Z's brother would fit very well under Pope. That kid got tired, but damn he was hurting us the entire game.

Butler makes all the difference.

What the hell am I reading? House money? Happy to be here? Bitches, we're a 3 seed who beat like 10 top 15 teams this year. The committee - by giving us a 3 - thinks we're one of the top 9-12 teams in the country. I see three teams in the Sweet 16 we beat, including 1 we're about to play who we beat twice. God damn it we're Kentucky. It's our RIGHT to be here. Act accordingly.

House money as in we will probably be playing higher seeds from here on. The committee, by giving us a 3, thinks other teams with a 1 or a 2 should beat us. hehe
