Rick’s insistence on playing M2M killed them on the defensive end. They couldn’t stay in front of ARK, who just keep beating them off the dribble.

On offense they were just putrid and 2 of their best players just never got going.

Were we early in sending Tyson a gift bag?
We’ll find out when our coach gets his 2nd ever NCAA tourney win.

(I love Pope - but we picked culture over experience by a country mile. We have to accept that Cal had just enough in the tank for the odd S16 or E8 run plus this Ark team saw the same SEC meat grinder we did and SJ played creampuffs.)

Arkansas should have been bounced by KU 48 hours ago. I didn’t want them to win but they are damn lucky to be alive right now. I’ll still take our long term future over theirs.
This is key. How would we feel about our future if we were a 10 seed and happened to make a Sweet 16 given how we’ve played since 2019? Would we feel like we’re progressing to being elite or would it feel like more of the same?

We would be thrilled in the moment. Until we lose. Likely in a way that we have always lost (stagnant offense, poor shooting, ridiculous lineups).

And then the more of the sameness would crash down on us.

I guess what I am saying is: They need to GD lose their next game.

Exactly! This is the ex who over time did so much shit you just couldn't stand and you find out theyre taking the new girl to the place he promised to take you the last 5 years. Is it irritating, yeah but is that 1 week worth years of more headaches and bullshit? Not by a long shot, we're in a better place.

As soon as I saw that loser Spike Lee… I knew the Johnnies were finished
What a bandwagon loser that guy is. There was some documentary 6 or 7 years back about 1980's Big East basketball and that jackass was going on "Hoya Paranoia" and his most prized possession being his satin Georgetown Starter jacket wearing it everywhere in NY but he's the archrival fan now. Same type of loser that's born and raised in Kentucky and is a UNC fan.

He left us with jack squat of a roster. Hell, even Billy G left us with some good pieces. Eff him and Arkansas.
We wanted him out as much as he wanted out. It ran its course and wasn’t going to be a good situation if he came back this year. Of course he took his players and recruits.

It won’t hurt nearly as much in the future if he has success and “our” guys are gone.

100% dead on. Look at the big picture. Nothing about their season was even remotely close to UK standards and it will be more of the same old shit for Arkansas next year. If they advance farther than we do in one freaking season, who gives a rat's ass. They got lucky this weekend playing a bad team that quit in February and then what looked to me like the worst #2 seed in history.

Beat Illinois.

I’d say that Rick “did down his leg” again today . I got caught up in all of the Pitino hype that was being thrown around as the year went on but he was out coached today, which isn’t saying much.

That wasn’t the coaching clinic I was expecting by any means. I’m glad Cal is gone , really want him to lose every game, but he’s showing he isn’t completely washed. Of course Fland going down helped him way more than anyone would have ever imagined

Creighton was criminally underseeded.

And re: Calipari, it got to where I couldn't even stand to look at him. He became vindictive towards the fan base, and deserves the pear of anguish as far as I'm concerned. That said, he's in the Sweet 16 when it looked like they wouldn't make the tournament a month ago. Whatever. I'm happy with how it worked out, no matter what happens tomorrow.

The disappointing thing about Cal and Arkansas winning is that the media is going to spend all week talking about this underdog mentality and how rugged they had to be to get here like he's running a rag tag group of misfits and they are overacheiving.

He's had a top 15 roster all year and wasted it's talent at every turn. That's the story.
