GYERO

Hey Team Bryant, do we get anything for coming in last because lol . . . shew buddy I suck at this stuff. Just more proof of why I don’t have a single gambling app anywhere near my phone. I’ll be out of every bracket pool contest before the second session concludes on day 1. Hooray! Go Cats!

Not to beat a dead horse here but Lappas is so awful and all his “coaching suggestions” are just wrong in every way.

Arkansas up 6, they should foul Kansas.

Arkansas up 4 with 10 seconds, again he is calling to fouls Kansas.

Misreading PnR missed switches, doesn’t have a clue what any teams are trying to do but explains as if he was the coach what he’d be trying to do.

No wonder this idiot failed as a coach.

Kansas had more TO’s than points in the last 5 minutes. Self should have gone zone earlier and probably just left HD on the bench.

Cal vs Rick is going to be delicious

Self is a good X/O guy. His 3 out/2 in style is just outdated. They were running lots of Zoom tonight, but they don’t have the right guards for that.
I will defer to you all, ‘err on actual basketball matters.

My (genuine, not smartass at all) follow-up question would be: if your style is outdated, are you still a “good coach?”

I understand having/not having the personnel to run “your system” is a factor, but how long can that keep going on before Self (or Cal, for that matter) has had enough time that they can no longer claim it’s the players, it’s their coaching style/system?

Again, genuinely not trying to argue with you because I always enjoy your in-depth analysis and think you’re one of the best basketball minds on this board. Would like to be educated more than anything else.

Fair points, CS.

I guess the thing about Self is that he’s at least willing to abandon his “old ways” and adapt. I think he absolutely hates his squad this year. It’ll be interesting to see how he recruits and hits the portal.

Dickinson sucked out loud. But those guards struggled too.

They had a foul to give so fouling one more time would have helped kill the clock. He was right about that part.

Same thing McDermott wanted his guys to do at the end of their first half but they screwed it up and gave up an open 3.

NBA teams do this religiously.

Disagree with ever stopping the clock up 2 possessions and in the bonus with less than 30 seconds.

Bringing up the NBA means nothing as they get the ball at half court on timeouts which saves time and even if it 5-6 seconds that’s a lot with less than 30 seconds.

If Rick Pitino had never left, and was finishing out his career, still at Kentucky, how many more titles do you realistically think we'd have now?

I'd put it at +2 conservatively and +4 at the other end. So probably 11. If he had never left, I think we'd have 11 championships. Which, putting it another way, I think he'd have won 6 total at Kentucky in 35 years.

Lol-you stop their momentum and are making them inbound it and waste time starting a new play over and more often than not you’re taking them further away from the basket.

NBA teams do it more than college teams but more college teams are copying the NBA and doing it more now than ever.

Cal did it once tonight but should’ve done it twice. Looking at who liked my post is all that needs to be said. He knows more about that stuff than any of us.

You like to argue over stuff so much that you should’ve been an attorney.

-Jim Jackson has been my favorite announcer so far.

-Hate to say it but Arkansas matches up well with St. John’s; the fact that they rarely if ever play zone is concerning as well.

-Arkansas tried to lose that one tonight but Kansas wouldn’t let them.

-Chuck and Kenny are terrible with their NCAA coverage.

Arkansas had two fouls to give last night. I saw Cal relay that to JDavis after the first foul. I think he wanted them to foul again, but they didn't. So instead of stopping the clock and making them reset, Kansas ran a little hammer/flare action and made a 3 to cut it to a 1-possession game. I don't see any strategy at all to NOT fouling in that scenario. I announced how stupid that was out loud to my empty living room (my family got tired of hearing me "critique" both coaches lol).

- That Kansas team was bad. Arkansas played well in spurts, but KU was just a lazy, disinterested, uninspiring bunch of meh. Strokin' has said it all season and he's right....Self hated that team, and they played like they hated each other. He's got a decent core there next year with Bidunga/Peterson/Griffen, but he needs to modernize that roster in a hurry.

- Imagine how good it must feel to be one of the 17 or so Florida basketball fans right about now. Georgia takes your mediocre coach off your hands, you replace him with a wunderkind who has you as a 1-seed just a few years in, and your former coach gets his brakes beat off in the first round of the tournament.

- Always cool to see two Cynthiana boys officiating the opening round of the tournament.

- I picked wins for every Mountain West team in the opening round. After last night's poor showing by Rax's Utah State Aggies, I'm thinking that was a mistake.

- Georgia Amoore.

Hungover morning in the Windy City:

- Lots of Illinois gear all over the place, not sure why I didn’t think that would be the case

-I was pulling for Cal to lose by 50. WTF are some of you talking about. Him making a miracle run would be about the worst possible thing I could imagine from this tournament

-Love that we have an older experienced team for this game. Butlers experience especially. Just stay healthy please

-That being said Cal/Pitino will be must watch

-We’re staying right in the heart of Chicago, I’m about 1 block from Portillos hot dogs and George and Georgettes steakhouse. But more importantly I’m 3 blocks from Ballys casino. My wife goes to her conference in 15 mins and then it’s gym and sports book time for dad. I feel like a freshman on spring break. We have a work dinner for her tonight right during our game 😒. Will be hard not to make a fool of myself

-Love this city
