GYERO

Bourbon Barrel Beef (just north of Millersburg on US 68 aka Limestone/Broadway) is a good one too. Beef only but everything we’ve had from there has been good and very reasonably priced.

Our neighbor at the lake decided to buy an existing cattle ranch in southern VA seemingly on a whim about 4 years ago (he had secretly been researching cattle for like a year).

Has about 110 head now. Doesn’t sell it though he has his LLC set up for his son to do so in the future. The amount of free beef we’ve received has been absurd. Completely demolishes the store-bought stuff. Mercy

110 head of cattle is a lot of work to not have any return on
Don’t quite understand it either outside of the guy not wanting to deal with permits/gubmint (staunch AF against). It’s a goldmine. He got bought out at his auto parts company several years ago for stupid money but still. Here’s his guy if anyone in GYERO in the market for packaging domestic beef in southern VA: (@justa ?)

I’m not sure what he does with all of it.

I’ll gladly take all he’s willing to offer.

Lived teen yrs in SoBo Va, so I know that lake very well. Its always been Buggs Island to me. Moved to that area right after the Meck. prison escape so it was always a spooky legend to us growing up.
I've gotten a weekend AirBnB there few times since I've been back, we are in LR now so have most activities on site.

I was watching Kansas play Saturday and noticed something "odd." ESPN - or whoever was covering their game - came back from a commercial break and the KU team was already on the floor, just meandering around. Utah was still in the huddle, encouraging each other while trying to pull the upset.

It was then I felt like this Jayhawks team all hate each other. Bill Self wanted them out of the huddle. He had spent enough time with them. He hates them. And their fans all probably hate them too. Seeing his post game comments from last night just confirms that. The "Great Tupee" has lost his team.

I blame Hunter DICKinson. He seems insufferable.

Buddy of mine is a HUGE Spartans fan… he splits his time btwn siesta key and Michigan. I have never seen someone hate another human being more than he hates Dickinson. He made it seem that no one up there (even the Michigan fans) liked him.

Pre-internet and cable, never got to see a lot of players until the tourney. The mystery made it seem more special when you only discovered how good they were when they upset someone in the tournament because you rarely saw them on tv.

Fennis Dembo, Detlef Schrempf, Derrick Chievous, Danny Ainge, US Reed even Bryce Drew. I remember wayy back Oregon State had Steve Johnston and Charlie Sitton. Think they were undefeated at one point in early 80's. Undefeated until last game of year and then lost in 2nd round before you could see what they were about. The list goes on.

Larry Bird was somewhat of a mystery back then. Heard about him, but who saw him play until the tourney.

Memories.

Definitely not on the list -- Ronnell and Donnell Taylor, UAB.

* 🤣 at Richard Pitino posting the Pitino halftime video with the caption "PTSD of not making my bed."

I would not change how things worked out for us and Mark Pope is (for me) unquestionably the right man to lead Kentucky basketball into this new era of college basketball.

Withthatsaid, I would absolutely love to watch a Bizarro alternate universe where Barnhart hired Pitino to come in and, in the words of Eric Bledsoe, get shit right for a few years to complete Pitino's heroes journey at UK. The fact that that man has that drive at that age to keep winning college basketball games is truly unique.

Can we get an Arkansas v. St. John's game? That's must see TV.

* I have zero inkling of how tonight's game will go. We could win by 40. We could lose by 40. Colin Chandler could miss his 8,000th three pointer of the year or randomly go for 20 tonight with a Sportscenter dunk package.

* How many graduate assistants and other guys do we have on staff? It seems like we have more and more late 20ish guys in suits holding clipboards with every passing game. As long as none of them are named Chin, Chuck, or Bruiser, you would have to assume they are an improvement.

The Cal/Pitino dynamic is so weird. I truly believe there is a ton of dislike from Pitino’s side because he can actually “coach em up” so it’s kind of Pitino who looks down honestly.

When it was UL/Memphis Cal simply couldn’t overcome and it seemed several times lost because of the FT line(Darius Washington comes to mind). However when it was UK/UL Pitino simply couldn’t beat Cal as it seems like in 15 years Pitino only won like 3-4 times.

Regardless St John’s vs Arkansas would be a great game.

I've hated Nolan Richardson ever since that game. Lost all respect for him after doing Tubby like that. It helped me understand why some Arkansas hill jack shot his horse.
Would love to see someone ask one of those former players on the 2004 team their opinions on how that all unfolded.

Per Jon Scott (and my curiosity)...

Rick Pitino was 219-50 at UK, and 6-12 vs UK (with one of those wins officially vacated)

Only 18 games against UK in 20 years, with 1-2 post season games in there too?

Seems off, but Tubby got the best of Pitino too if memory is accurate.

Hot take: Cal's dominance over Rick while here (in games and in recruiting) made Rick so crazy he told his staff to do whatever it takes to get recruits and then you had things happen with Katina, Jazzy and the like. Rick knew about it he was just always smart enough to have a fall guy in place.
