GYERO

The stretch from Thanksgiving to December 10 when Arkansas plays Illinois, Miami, and Michigan (none at home, 2 at neutral sites) and then only plays Central Arkansas, NC A&T, and Oakland over the next 20 days has potential to destroy the Cal/Arkansas relationship before the new year if they go 1-2 or even 0-3 against the power teams.

-I'm not going to mock the Ark fans. They don't know what they're getting into and they've routinely been the 2nd best BB fans in the conference my entire life. Thos 90s SECTs were some of my favorite games attended ever. Fierce. Hog fans be there when it matters. Now, I'm gonna talk shit about Calipari for quite awhile.

-Snow!! I hate the darkness of winter but love snow.

-Demin coming back. Please don't tease me like that.

-Speaking of weather, we just had the perfect Fall. It has been f*cking gorgeous for like 12 weeks.

-Consuming UKMB media at an alarming pace. Every little piece.

-Stoops needs a damage control PR firm on standby.

-Glad fair weather bitchass _chase_ decides to show up when things are rosey. Thanks for nuttin. Just left us to wallow in the mud of Cal's BS for like 5 years.

This non conference TV schedule has sucked. Good thing I have "Coleonthesticks@gmail.com" streaming the game for me on YT. Even sent him a little something for his troubles. I THINK this is the last one not on TV.

Would not shock me if the football Cats hang around @ Texas, it would not shock me if they get shut out 34-0. Better luck next year.

Gonzaga will have to show me that they are legit. They are good, but top 3 ?

Bama playing a gauntlet of a schedule. 6 ranked teams in a row.

Been reported muss just wanted to go back to Cali. He’s currently a better coach than Cal as well.

Cal ear-f*cked me for the last 5 years and can go to hell. I can barely stand listening to him talk, basically makes me shudder. Doesn’t even speak like a real person anymore - just some weird sales robot that repeats catchphrases all day in a condescending tone. He began at Kentucky with a record of like 18-0 with so much excitement and juice. John Wall dunking all over the place. He’s a sad shell of his former self

Watching the press conference of that Lipscomb coach after the game - man that guy is a class act. Just sat there answering questions about how good Kentucky is and how much better they are than his team. I know it’s part of the gig but guy took it in stride like a champ.

Selling your small business to a company sucks balls. I didnt have a choice due to what was going on with my partner but if you own one and are generally happy don’t do it. They’re full of shit.

This snow instantly got me in the mood for thanksgiving/xmas. What an amazing time of the year with little ones.

Got a nice dose of reality this week when I got the Explanation of Benefits for my son's Insulin Pump and 3 months of supplies.

$8744.50

And that does not include the glucose monitors that we change every 10 days that are $100 a piece. Now I see why krazy mentions insurance every time he talks about jobs. Thankfully we have relatively low max out of pocket but March is going to suck. It's been over six months since he was diagnosed so we've worked through a lot mentally but it's a weird feeling to basically have an annual payment to keep you child alive.

Were you contracted to still run it after the buyout?

Hearing a ton of these stories in my industries that got wrapped up in the PE wave. This is the 3rd wave of this stuff since the late 90s for us. Lot of long time family businesses now owned by the suits.

In my business (insurance/consulting) there aren’t many independents left. Guys get to the point they’re making $500k/year then they sell out to a corporation. They get a big 7 figure check and are happy as hell……until they’re not. When you’ve built a very successful business your way, I can’t imagine how hard it is to go back to just being a 100% commission sales guy working for the man. Every single person I know who has done that hates and regrets it.

Another fair weather GYERO poster just stopping by

- Pope was just what this program needed, obviously. When it comes to reinvigorating the fan base, Mitch Barnhart has known exactly what to do with his last two MBB hires. Both were controversial hires in their own right but he took them bc they were the right choice at the time. Tremendous leadership on his end.

- I love Kerr. Have to think back to DeAndre Liggins since we’ve had a villain quite like him.

- If there is one thing I will miss about the Cal era, it will be having the team everyone is always rooting against. Pope is a media darling. There was just something about winning in those Cal days and telling everyone to eat shit.

- Everything about snow and winter can GGF.

- Does GYERO wet or dry brine their Thanksgiving turkey?

Enjoy your Thursdee, folks

I stayed on with my first sale and while it could have been a lot worse, it still sucked as it was constant feeling of “I wouldn’t have done that thing in that manner.” Waited for non-compete to expire then started 2nd company.

Free and clear on that one.

Been offered to sell Grand Slam. But then what? I’m 47 and enjoy what I do. I’ll stick with owning my own spot and sink/swim on my own.

Coaches contacted me and asked about doing an NIL deal. Lol, no thanks.

What they are asking Gran to do is like asking one of our grandfathers to build an app. That guy 100% tries and is a solid dude.

Also…..the huge difference imo is age. The guys that do this in their 40s and 50s and then think they’re going to stick around with the new corporation are almost all miserable. Totally different ballgame if you’re 70 and ready to retire, or happy to walk away altogether and do something different.

I could not imagine having a boss at this point, no matter the money involved. I've been working for myself for going on 10 years next July. I'm not even sure I would be employable, tbh, with my attitude toward authority.

I know with the big P&C brokerages, a lot of them don't even give you commission unless the premium is over a certain threshold, setting the bar higher once you've sold, making you grind even more.

Same. After second sale, all solo. Used a chunk to acquire and flip a couple properties (35-50 acre single family/townhomes) with paper lots.

Mostly just acquisition/entitlement flip these days across most use categories. I will still do my own engineering design at times but depends on size and jurisdiction. Too time consuming. About to develop my first two projects independently as well. That will be a fun challenge.

About to close with an Utah-based land bank on my largest non-syndication deal yet. Needed the knowledge from the first buyout (and the money).

Then will buy out all of GYERO’s small businesses.

That’s been the goal since I started lurking in 2004.

Have always heard and thought Gran was good people. Don’t love the way it worked out with him at the OC spot, but that guy has genuine “defenders” that I trust.
