Really digging the Lewis commitment. If he dives into improving on defense he’s a hell of a piece. He makes a lot of sense next to Johnson.
He's a crafty lefty with a jumper. Looks to me like we are getting DJ Wagner 2.0 but without Calipari getting the opportunity to muck it up. I consider that a good thing, especially if Lewis will be here multiple years. In his interviews, he's got a confidence that borders on cockiness -- which is exactly what you need from a point guard.
If the plan going forward is to bring in 4 freshmen every year and add talent as needed from the portal, I couldn't possibly be happier. One Top 5 guy who might be a one and done and three top 25ish guys who will probably be here multiple years is what we thought we were getting with Cal. Pope appears to be bringing it in year 1.
I just like that there appears to be a lot of thought into how to construct the roster and how the pieces fit as opposed to just trying to get a bunch of 5 stars and “make it work”.

Generally 3-4 contributing freshmen seems ideal. Already trust Pope to make sure the players are a fit.
That said, with scholarships going to 15, wouldn’t be opposed to the occasional developmental guy if there is a reasonable sense of buy-in from the player (again, trusting Pope’s intuition on bringing that guy in).

He’s a junior who only played mop up snaps one year so I guess playing time wise he’s like a sophomore but he’s technically a junior.
I would’ve been ok starting Cutter Boley this year or next and see if we can develop our own qb who’d potentially be a beast as a junior or senior.
Unfortunately, continually rotating oc’s would stunt that process as well as how inept we are offensively. They are gonna screw around and lose him from the roster. Would be interesting to see if Sumrall could keep him here.
I know alot of people think Marrow isn’t the end all be all, but if Stoops is here Marrow is too and I’d say that has a lot to do with players not leaving.
I haven’t watched Tulane or any team Sumrall has coached so I have no clue what schemes his OC’s run or if those translate to the SEC. One thing I will say is BVG can improve in reads with a coach that actually knows his own scheme and can teach BVG things to read and look for when formations move the defense certain ways ie Stephen Johnson “I love this sh*t” bomb for a TD read. I honestly wonder if we study film as it sort of seems we just line up and figure it out on the fly, or better yet don’t figure it out.

Along with, and maybe due to, the constant changing of OC’s Stoops inability to develop one single QB from a FR to a SR has been one his biggest failures.
I’d rather take my chances with a RSFR/SO QB and develop him into the system instead of taking other teams retreads and changing shit every year.
We don’t need another OC we need another head coach.
Barring some unexpected portal pick ups, with Brock and Stoops here next year combined with our schedule we could very well finish 2-10 (0-9 in the league).
Guys like Brown, Key and Boley could very well leave. Walker and Hairston will be gone as well.
We’ll play SC, Georgia, Ole Miss, Vandy, Auburn, Lewisville on the road. Ole Miss, Florida, Tennessee and Texas at home.
With the Stoops fatigue increasing, it will have a negative impact on season ticket sales and NIL.
