IU's coach is 63-years old. He got a late start as a head coach 12 years ago at D-2. He's won big every place he's been but I can't see a powerhouse program looking at someone his age with 1-year of Power 5 head coaching and thinking you're building for the future.

Raked betting Florida.
ML/ +2.5 / Florida 2nd half.

My son absolutely gashed Vegas yesterday. Hit 4 (FOUR) parlays $243, $297, $363, $741. He actually hit another, but cashed out before Chubb scored his TD, it was for ONLY $48. Never witnessed anyone have a day like that.

I did however hit one good one : 5 leg anytime TD +4095
Jahmyr Gibbs +152
James Cook +105
Ja' Marr Chase +126
Saquon Barkley -129
Joe Mixon +100

$20 = $819. I did lose several bets, but raking the Florida money and that Parlay above, I finished up $926 for Saturday and Sunday.

Wonder if Krazy still thinks we win 7 games ?? After the Vandy ass beating, that was a Krazy statement to make. Like i said last week, 4-8, MAYBE 5-7.

Ready for basketball to start.

Congrats on the windfall.

-That AB by Soto was f*cking amazing. Dude was just talking shit and begging for the fb. Get's it and parks it. Unreal.

-In a normal existence Stoops should have a ton of equity built up, but in his created situation, the fans have a right to be salty right now. Pony up and A&M after we've overwhelming shown up time and again to get kicked in the nuts.

-I really hate losing when we look like a disorganized mess. That makes it feel 100000x's worse.

-B/W game was weird. I mean, not in a bad way, but it's just gonna take some getting used to without Cal roaming around screaming and making condescending remarks. I'm all in but it's still in the really new weird phase.

-Don't shoot the messenger, I don't think we're going to be very good this year. We'll be decent tho. Tourney team, sure. Contender, no. Just put out a tough crew playing pleasing styles of ball and build to the future.

-Proud Dad moment. Little guy finished 3rd in the KY Elementary State Championship XC meet out of 275 runners. Pretty awesome watching him run, lowest finish for him this season was 4th, with 6 overall 1st places in 9 races. On to club season and nationals.

-Nice lil late October ride!! Gotta show 'preeeeecsh to that.

Krazy does not see 7 wins. I really thought we’d clip the Gators, and honestly felt most of the game neither team was good so our defense might carry us to a W.

When they started to fade I knew we were in trouble, but we scored out of the half and made it a TD which gave me hope. Unreal we couldn’t figure that mess of a team out, and silver lining is we may have given them confidence to make a bowl game so Billy could be safe!

Now I’m not sure we beat Auburn this week but suspect in true UK football fashion we come out looking like a juggernaut causing a WTF reaction.

Honestly beat Murray and hopefully UL. UL is still just as suspect as us and we “should” be able to score easily on that defense after seeing SEC defense all year.

But at this point 3 wins get a bowl and that’s all I want and then see what happens with Stoops. Bush Hamden was not the right guy, and with Brown, Key, Walker all likely gone I’d say this is the perfect time to get out for him.

My worry is that we have an entire roster of specialists who are excellent at one thing but not complete players. To me, it will depend on how good Robinson, Carr, Williams, and Butler actually are. Those guys are the ones that have to be on the floor at crunch time.

The fifth will depend. This may be pure recency bias but Chandler looks like a good candidate for the fifth man by the end of the year. Both he and Oweh have the physical gifts to be an NBA guard. Chandler looks a bit farther along on the skills axis -- with much more room to excel. That said, I have some significant concerns about a freshman coming off a Mormon mission in his first year.

Like not listening to Cal's mouth spewing obnoxious (and stupid!) shit all the time, it will take some time to get used to relying on old guy grit and skill rather than the latest cast of diaper dandies.

I go back and forth depending on the day -- but definitely have several concerns. BYU was a good ball club year 1 in their step up to brutal B12 last year, which gives me hope. Our roster >> theirs last year, especially athletically (which is my biggest concern for us) even if it's a 'new' squad. And despite our overall lack of athleticism, we still have 2 TOP defenders at the Top/Bottom of our attack. which is probably being slept on a lil. And our 4 likely best players are seniors+.

I'm committed to enjoying the process, with 40 minutes allowed twice per week to overreact in REAL TIME, b/c there is no changing that character flaw of mine. It's gonna take a few years, but He did about as good as he could have done putting together this roster, and I can't wait to watch them.

Very obvious take: We will have to figure out how to score and defend. The problem I see is that we're loaded with shooters who probably can't defend and defenders who probably can't shoot.

If Pope's offense can still put up points with a lineup that includes Butler, Oweh, and Williams (defenders at 3 levels), we might do really well. If we're shooting 50% from 3 on a given night, it probably doesn't matter, but on nights when the shooters are off, we'll lose to anyone unless the offensive scheme is good enough to get buckets with our defensive lineup in. IMHOO.

The other way to do it would be with a good zone, or switching defenses enough to keep opponents off balance. But that stuff takes experience to be effective. With an entirely new team, learning the offense will probably be tough enough, and that's where the focus will probably be for Pope.

He's 21 yrs old...ahead of most between the ears the same age due to his experiences in life....and easily one of the top 5 overall players on the team "now". He doesn't need "till the end of the year".

Significant concerns...you think he's gonna stop playing in the middle of the game and start telling everyone about Joseph Smith?

F all that! We're ready to go. We have vets. We have shooters. We have defenders. We have size. We have a top notch offensive system. We have a group that is galvanized and focused on a common goal. The whole will definitely be greater than the sum of its parts. We have a leader that fully understands the assignment. It's time to believe again!

Put me down as we’re gonna have a good team.
We have all conference defenders, all of them shoot a a good percentage, an actual offense with movement and a purpose, with an actual coach that can make in game adjustments.
I don’t see a downside when you have that many shooters and a good, competent coach!!

I may eat those words but it’s so much better than what the fat whop gave us the last few seasons!! Hope abounds!!

I think this team will be a combination of the Bombino’s and the Unforgettable’s. Fun to watch, up and down the floor, smart basketball, beat a few teams they shouldn’t and be the building block to what’s to come. If they make any real noise in the Dance they could be one of the all time favorites.

I won $800 playing craps at the golden nugget last month. Put em out of business.
Monkey see, monkey do. Quit trying to piggy back off other posters, yours was the worst ATTEMPT to be funny. Not even believable because it is doubtful your ass even has $ to gamble with. Your post was about as revealing as your name, stupid as F**k.

Long-time lurker here.

- 🏀😁 All-in on Pope. I think he did at least as well as could be expected putting a team together in short order. I like that he's heavy into analytics and a Pitino-esque approach to offense and conditioning. We haven't had anything close to an Xs-and-Os honk since Robic. Not to mention that fact that he GETS UK basketball. There will be no "biggest day in program history" at the draft or "Basketball Benny" derision toward the fans. Yes, we folks ARE crazy, Pope right there along with us. But hopefully not so crazy that we're not patient with him. That's my biggest concern. Let him work through the bumps and growing pains.

- 🏀🤣 Poor Cal. Every time I see him he reminds of Schumer when Kamala was anointed - "Boy, am I excited!! Joyous!! Look at my excitement!! LOOK AT IT!!!" Completely uncomfortable and out of place. I can't wait to be at Rupp on 2/1/2025 - a veritable smorgasbord of awkwardness.

- 🏀💙 Got a little lot choked up seeing Pitino at BBM, especially when he said once he left UofL he wanted to sleep in UK blue (or something like that). He's not been shy about admitting that he never should've left UK, this was Camelot, this was home, etc. And when he talked about how emotional it was to be back and get the ovation from the fans. 🥹 I was at UK 91-95, which was prime Pitino. One hell of a time to be a UK student and basketball fan. Consequently, I've always had a soft spot for Pitino. Him going to UofL sucked, and I did my best to hate him during that time, but I never really could. I suspected he wanted to get back to the state and took the UofL job since the UK job wasn't open. Hearing him say just that was nice. I mean, the guy loves UK generally and Mark Pope specifically; great to have him home.

- 🏈😠 I'm pissed about the state of the football program, but after 40+ years of fandom, meh, I've seen worse. Perhaps the enthusiasm around a new era in basketball is tempering my rage somewhat, but I've sort of been out on Piglet since the pony up comment. The TA&M thing didn't help. I want to get upset with Bush Hamdan, but I wonder how much autonomy he really has in the play-calling. Coen was dreadful last season but killing it in Tampa Bay. The clock management, the discipline, the post bye-week mental retardation collapses, etc. seem to be features, not bugs, of the Stoops era. I'd probably be more upset if I thought that the potential existed for UK football to become a consistent 9-10 win program, but it doesn't, especially not now with the state of the SEC. I accepted long ago that the ceiling for UK on a consistent basis was 7-5, and here we are, though this year is looking more like 5-7. We are who we've always been.

🤡🤡 Harris/Walz. Really? The fact that they won't lose all 50 states is embarrassing.

- ♊♂️ BoyTweon is killing it. Engineering co-op in Lexington this year and then back to school next fall. Really learning a lot and making connections. If he does a third rotation next summer, he'll likely be guaranteed a job when he graduates, but he wants to test some other waters in the meantime. He has some contacts in the aerospace industry, but he'd have to move to Alabama or Florida, and the pressure/secrecy is a deterrent for him. Still, might be interesting to at least co-op and check it out.

- ♊♀️ GirlTweon was all-in on education until she did some student-teaching and ran like hell. So, she's taking a gap-year trying to figure out what direction she wants to go. Probably psychology/therapy, but not sure. Interestingly, she has gotten super into flamenco dancing. She loves it. Certainly not as a career, but it's something she really enjoys and is good at. We all went to a flamenco festival in Albuquerque this summer and dancers from all over Spain were there performing and it was unbelievable. Kids, man, you just never know what they'll get into.

- 🤷‍♂️What does GYERO stand for?

- 🧑‍🎓💙 Speaking of college, life is funny sometimes. Ran into my college roommate at a Billy Joel concert among thousands of people at Great American Ball Park a few years ago. We got back in touch, along with another college buddy who lives here in Louisville, and our friendship has essentially picked up where it left off 30 years ago. Now our discussions include kids and inexplicable injuries, but instead of white label Jim Beam and Coors Light we're drinking Double-Oaked Woodford and Caymus. But it's funny how quickly you fall back into ripping into one another and resurfacing experiences shared decades ago that we'd all but stored away for good. At the same time, it's sobering to think about how much has happened in the interim. One of the guys had a brain tumor and was given 6 months to live. Fortunately, there was a doctor in CA pioneering a treatment with great success who was able to save him.

- 🍂🎃🦃🎅 Best time of the year, by far, despite the ineptitude of our football program.

Anyhow, I'm sure there are more random takes I could share, but this'll do for now. God bless GYERO and remember to dial 811 before you dig (it's the law) and drive sober or get pulled over.

The final game of the WNBA Championship Series went to overtime last night and ended 67-62.
I hate to even post about that shit show, however, my beloved YTTV didn't have a MLB/NFL only split screen. My only two options were MLB/WNBA or WNBA/MLB/NFL. Motherf*ckers just tryna ruin my post Sunday Family Dinner cocktail. That and they LOST 40 million last year, in the season they finally got the golden goose that would bring a whole new set of viewers.... and they did everything in their power to f*ck it up. Stop shoving that shit down our throats, it's an awful awful awful awful product.

It’s funny how popular that exact sentiment is. I mean, who wants to waste time on a proven winner when you can go out and find some up and comer hotshot that’s 30 years old?
I don't disagree with you, especially when 90 % of coachs fail and don’t make it past Year 5 anyway. I think in his case, he's hungry. Not like other fat, washed up coach's who won a lot once and are going through the motions now.

- I think there’s a decent chance Pope is a bigtime coach.

- I look at the “elite” rosters and it’s not like these teams are loaded with pros. Doesn’t scare me.

- Roster makes complete sense and is deep enough to give a lot of different looks and file through options.

- I think we’re better than advertised.

- Love these articles/podcasts/news shows giving these undecided voters the stage and you realize two seconds in, “this guy/lady is a complete buffoon.”

- We’re generally awful at staying in regular contact, but men are outstanding at feeling zero time with friendships. We pick up where they left off like nothing. Women on the other hand…

- This Indian Summer can bounce any day now. 🙄

- I’ll never understand how sports TV producers can continually muck up basic stuff:

* 5-man studios- umm 3 people is more than enough

* Terrible angles- just film from the best place, this isn’t an art film

* In-game interviews- not once have I thought during the game, “I really want to hear from that celebrity/former player-coach instead of concentrating on the game.”

^ Clowns

- No real idea what to expect from basketball. I suspect we will be a high variance team with good efficiency numbers - but we’ll get there in a way that will fluctuate wildly from one 40 minutes to the next. But as long as they operate like the first priority is to win basketball games, I’ll be happier.

- I’m sure the next offensive coordinator will be the one to unlock our explosive attack.

- One thing I am confident in is that I’ll be making a lot fewer posts saying stuff like “we’re playing our worst lineup 60% of the minutes” and things of that nature.

I'm not saying Hamdan is Kyle Shanan, but on a lot of the passing plays there are receivers running wide open (often it's Maclin) and Brock never even looks in their direction.
