Re: GYER38-0

Considering the overall 'experience' level of Todd's kids, I'm guessing they go with the Shrimp Cocktail, Filet w/ truffle butter, and probably some Mac N Cheese, b/c they are still kids you know.

And a virgin Old Fashioned.

Re: GYER38-0

-Not me. I feel terrible. I'm an emotional mess. Have a really awful feeling going into this thing and can't shake it. I shouldn't. Oh well, going to be a long 5 days. If I make it through giving myself one day buffer then a serious physical and mental cleanse.

-Haven't really sat around thinking about my top 5 hottest women so I really can't contribute there.

-Hate that Mad Men and series like that are sooo long b/w seasons. Can barely remember story lines from last season.

-Caught Neighbors a few nights ago, pretty shitty movie but has some funny parts. Hit home a bit with young new parents separating from the party scene.

Same. The turbo TV dorks are always dropping "Did you catch the reference to....etc, etc."

Hell, I worshipped Breaking Bad, and I learn multiple things that I missed in the 'Saul' thread after every episode.

Re: GYER38-0

...and controversial, but I still prefer SEC football roadies to NCAA tourney roadies. A few factors:

Southern college town > Random US city
College bars > Chain Bar & Grill(e)s
Tailgates > Chain Bar & Grill(e)s
Coeds > Affluent Alums (conflicts with Spake debate but this is correct... at least visually)
Fall weather > Wintry spring weather
Stadium pageantry > NCAA vacuum arena

Apples and oranges to a certain extent, but for my money give me Tuscaloosa/Athens/Oxford et al, all/air. TS.

Re: GYER38-0

Completely different animals

Both are great (and bad) for different reasons.

Myself, I still get chills anytime UK completely takes over a city. Don't think I'll ever get "over" the feeling I get when I'm in the midst of that (which obviously doesn't really happen in football).

But with football, it's mostly about "pure fun", which is also a great bonus (and the reason the SECT is my favorite event to attend, even over the NCAA games)

I mean, are we talking about in present day, or do you get to pick from any point in time of your/their life? That changes the list quite a bit.

Keeneland clubhouse Saturday as well, then watching the game with the 80's. Something tells me Sunday is gonna hurt, the drive to Indy will be exciting though. Kind of like last year.

Country Club shopping, some good deals out there now. Ready to get the golf game going, good thing I have all next week off.

The Americans with another solid episode last night.

Amazing, the whole season coming to an end within the next few days. Bring it home boys.

Re: GYER38-0

- I've been ill-at-ease since that game last Saturday. It's like I tasted blood for the first time.

- All good reasons, SAE, but #1 is probably the utter lack of pressure on football roadies compared to NCAA roadies, which are businesses trips after Round 1.

- And HOLD UP- what kind of mature MAN likes looking at coeds over frumpy MILFs? Some of us have actually grown up a little bit.

- I still don't know what exactly I'm doing Saturday which really bothers me. My normal watch spot gave me a shady answer, something along the lines of "well, we're having both families over for Easter so we want to keep it to only VIPs," which is fine. A small crew works for me, but I want to make sure I'm dealing with a loose, social atmosphere, too. I want to know drinking and discussing the game (or drinking and mourning) until 3am is in-play. Example #548 of EVERYTHING changing when your buddies get married.

Re: GYER38-0

I watched Mad Men in its entirety last month (for the fourth time).

Once you know all of the plot machinations and can focus on the one-liners, it is one of the funniest shows on television.

Re: GYER38-0

That sucks.

But to be fair, almost all my REAL "UK Friends" are married, and 'having the family over for Easter/to watch the game' simply would not be an option. Period.

No. Way. In. Hell.

They're having the families over Sunday. I'm more concerned postgame and the entire vibe of the night. Don't want my boy handcuffed. It's Final 4- everything has to be right.

Re: GYER38-0

-Unless you're concerned with proximity, which is what kept me away b/c of drinking and driving home, the Keene/Champions deal is pretty hard to pass up. Has to be one of the best deals in the state right now. If you want proximity join with your boy Harris at Andover. Guess you're not far from Greenbriar either. They have a dope pool.

-I with BBdk, I love the mist taking over. Especially SECT. Also love football roadies but we obviously don't take those near as serious.

Re: GYER38-0

Anybody hitting up the pep rally at Victory Field on Sat? Starts at 1:00.

The cheerleaders and pep band will be there. There will be grilled food and beer tents & liquor.

Covered outdoor setting. Weather looks doable.. Sunny and high 50's.

Realize a bar is usually the correct play but this thing starts at 1:00 & could be fun.

Go watch it with your old man.

That's where we're different.

My main concern is the game, couldn't care less about the scene/party/vibe/other stuff.
You care only about bragging about going to the game and where you ate.

Considering it. They already have a good crew out there with my uncles and cousins.

May head to Lex.

Re: GYER38-0

* I'm a wreck. No reason to be this nervous, but I am.

I think I've gotta watch this one on my own. Have no desire to go to Indy or out to a bar to watch this one.

* My neighbor invited me over. I politely declined, considering he is Wisconsin fan #1.

* Been in the new house 1 year already. The Final Four game was our first night there last year.

* I'm starting serious detox/healthy eating/turbo working out mode on Tuesday. Much needed.

* In the meantime, making breakfast for dinner tonight. Scrambled eggs and goetta for the wife and kids and leftover flank steak, mushroom and spinach omelette for Daddy.

* May wear my wildcat head hat to work tomorrow.

Re: GYER38-0

Last week at Tin Roof, I literally felt the walls closing in on me. I just had to get out of there. No goodbyes. Nothing.

Not so sure watching my myself is a good idea there. I need some sort of calming presence.

I know WHY I'm nervous. It's all been building to this all season. Plus, Wisconsin is legit. This isn't 2012 when we had Louisville and Kansas, or 1996 when we had Syracuse. This team is damn good, a real threat.

Re: GYER38-0

Thoughts on the Rex Chapman interview?

I don't know much about pills. Seems that's gotten quite a few athletes. So, I guess these guys start popping to dull their injuries and next thing you know they're addicted?

Re: GYER38-0

I thought it was ok.
rolleyes.r191677.gif
@ not remembering stealing from Apple, multiple times. Come on dude. I GUESS maybe he can't say much b/c he still hasn't been charged.

But how hard is it to say -> "I was on pills, my life was a mess, I hit an all time low that included me doing things I'm not proud of. I apologize for that. I apologize to the BBN and Cal for the untimely Cal Done Deal tweet." Basically, "I'm sorry, I touched up" and it's done.

Apologies are really easy but you have to own it. If you don't it comes off much worse than just sticking to your guns.

Re: GYER38-0

What John Wall did last night was
eek.r191677.gif
. Too bad our boy Nerlens was a victim in that.

"When are we going to look at new patio furniture?"
"Have you picked out a tile or paint color for the guest bathroom yet?"
"God this front door has to be replaced immediately- I literally cannot"

The next time we buy a home, it will:
A) Be purchased in cash
B) Be turnkey move in ready

Buying a 100 year old project home seemed like a great idea and we'll do very well with it when we sell- but Jesus the strain on a relationship when you are renovating room by room is unreal.

My wife also turns 30 later this month and trying to plan a simple dinner with some of her friends is like trying to chase down a bunch of stray cats. I thought it would be a simple email out to a few people and they could either show up- or not. Its turned into people being mad because i left some people off the email, It's so &so's engagement party that weekend and I shouldve respected that, and a slew of other ridiculous responses. Most of her (our?) friends are solid folks- but the ones that are over the top are way over the top. They never really got out of the "I was hot in college and people did what i wanted" mode.

Keeneland Saturday/Indy Monday shouldve been the play for me.

For a supposed team/program that has guys come and go so quickly- this group has some all-timers, imo.

A week to prepare for the Final Four >>> 19 hours to prepare for Notre Dame. Obviously that works both ways. This game will have 4-5 guys on the floor at all times, for both teams, that can make plays.

For no one particular reason, ive always thought Fall Keenland had a better vibe than Spring Keeneland. Also, as hard as Final Four tickets are to come by- it was tougher to secure Breeders Cup tix.

Top 5 drinking on the deck songs:
Sublime- Santeria (high school nostalgia purposes)
Cash- Sunday Morning Coming Down
Dobie Gray- Drift Away
Otis Redding- Dock of the Bay
George Jones- (insert song)

Re: GYER38-0

I think it comes down to the fact that Kentucky October weather is 100x more consistent than Kentucky April weather. Seems you get 50-and-rainy more often that not.

Re: GYER38-0

Mandatory work on Saturday until 5:00 plus Easter on Sunday doesn't make Saturday possible - ticket cost doesn't help the argument. Having a few UK fans and cousins over to watch it.

Purposely booked our spring break vacation leaving Tuesday night so will be up there Monday.

I agree Fall Keeneland> Spring Keeneland.

Sunny and high in the 50's Saturday, love the fact girls will still be out in sundresses freezing their tight little asses off.

Seems like you deal with this type of bullshit a lot. Is this type of formality just a Southern girl thing or do all of you marrieds run into this?

You don't see it much and it's more of a Fall thing, but I LOVE (

Re: GYER38-0

I dont think its that common- but with my wifes friends in particular- they never do *anything* without the entire group being involved. You can never just go to dinner with one other couple. You have to invite like 5-6 pairs. Like i said- I just wanted a few people to come to dinner on her birthday. Its turned into a charade. Knew this was gonna be the way it goes when we had 12 ATTENDEES at our wedding.

Re: GYER38-0

Notre Dame game best thing that could have happened. Almost got beat, eye-opener. Week to prepare for Wisky. I feel good about it.

Leaving on Saturday morning.

Re: GYER38-0

I keep coming back to the thought that if this UK team is truly great, this is the opportunity to show. There were no breaks in this tournament. You want to be an all-timer, this is where you show out.

Honestly, I've been kind of surprised at just how overwhelming the UK picks have been in the media.

Re: GYER38-0

Aside from losing and missing out on another title, I'm bothered by the fact that IF UK fails to go 40-0, say 38-1 or 39-1, then all the talking heads will just say they were an overrated team that played a nobody schedule as if UK were St. Joes.

Pisses me off.

The lass's friends are about as dysfunctional at planning dinners and events as anything I've ever seen. Last month we were supposed to be at dinner at 730, and at 725 the location had yet to be established. Listening to them try and figure it out just blew my mind.

Set a time, set a place, tell people to be there. Either show up or do not.

Simple.

Oh yeah Richie, she's all shined up and ready to roll.

Filet. My kids eat steak all the time. Heck they have already said they are excited about trying the shrimp cocktail. Add some steak fries, mac n cheese, & dessert. Kids are stoked. Wife's family lived in Indy for years & it's her parents favorite restaurant anywhere so the grandparents have been talking it up all week how great it is going to be. Should be great!
