- I’m sure I’ll feel differently in a few years, but right now I’ve got nothing for Cal. I don’t wish him success. He had all the tools. He had resources, stacked rosters, unwavering support well past the point where it should’ve wavered, and he just blew it because of hubris or some other equally embarrassing flaw. Disgraceful is not too strong a word for the way he treated this program and this state. He’s not a good coach, but you’ll never convince me we wouldn’t have at least made the second weekend if he did us the one service of simply playing the best players, and that’s only one on a long list of aggrievances he’s committed against us the last several years.
His winning percentage at UK is going to end up slightly better than the all time percentage before he got there, and we didn’t use to play 10+ games a season against directional commuter schools.
I don’t want retirement ceremonies, tribute videos, anything. This was willfully done.
- I’d be happy with Drew. To do what he’s done and consistently does at Baylor is remarkable. But to be honest, I’d be happy with a high school coach at this point. I can earnestly root for anybody as long as they’re trying to win basketball games for the University of Kentucky.
