The coach in me absolutely worries about this team’s inability to guard anyone. It’s alarming. You’re gonna get your heart broken if you ignore it.

You’d think with this roster and how bad they are in man he’d at least try zone. As much if he’s adjusted this year offensively, you’d think he’d be open to doing the same defensively. He should hit Huggins up for some advice on mixing up defensive looks.
We all know what it takes to win the tournament. And we have it.

Everybody on here is worried about that. Every knowledgeable, informed UK fan is aware of it. No one is ignoring it. It's obviously a concern, but the coach in me believes that area will improve. Cal finally has all of his shot blockers and has been without his best defender for several games now. There will still be struggles, but the talent, athleticism and variety of styles this squad will face in the SEC will prepare them well for March. Plenty of time to get better!
The coach in me is also happy as F that we have the best offense in the country. This team has 27 assists today. They shot 14/25 from deep. Five different guys hit multiple threes, none were Dillingham. We scored 105 points, only two by Dillingham.
And we let up. We could have scored 130 if we kept our foot on the gas.

You can take a lot away from this game today. Big Z exceeded expectations by a mile, we still need our other 7 footers for different reasons, you can't zone us when Mitchell is on the floor, our defense is atrocious and it really shouldn't be and we can just shoot the lights out.
But, if I took anything away from this game, it's amazing to me how patient we are when we don't have a fast break / quick out option. For a team with youth at every turn, we are extremely patient and smart in the half court. The passes make sense in the frame of off the ball movement. Guys know where their teammate is going to be before they are there. This is the preparation we've been asking for and it's wondrous to see.
I don't care if it's the new assistant coach, personnel or if Cal did start feeling the heat, it's a damn sight to behold and I thoroughly enjoy watching us play basketball.
