- I didn’t want to see UL 0-whatever when we play them either. Not because I think we won’t beat them easily, but because there is always the chance Cal does what he does and it’s a game late, which I don’t want to see that regardless of UL’s record. If they were 0fer then that just makes it worse.

- Christmas family photos Friday at 630pm.

If you needed a sign you are old, Friday night family pics is that sign. Glad she booked that and not me.

- First year in my life I have no real Christmas family gathering. We hosted last year but didn’t want to this year and all the family gatherings we did previously all lost mamaw or papaw that held it together.

Feels empty, but I’m sure I’ll enjoy this holiday more than most if for nothing else the simplicity of it.

- Smoked a pork butt that should be ready around 4pm. For me this is equal to doing anything in a crock pot. Simple, no work, it’s actually done way before we eat but you literally can’t mess it up.

We've never played Mick Cornin as a head coach. We haven't played UCLA since 2017 and the only time we played Cincinnati while he was there is the year he was out with medical complications.

The one bite frozen pizza is exactly what you'd expect from any frozen pizza. Decent if you're drunk late at night or just want something quick. Not terrible, not great but not worth the 7-8 dollars. If I've learned anything about Frozen Pizzas, I think the cheaper ones are the better ones. Give me Tony's, Totino's, or Red Baron over any of the the Portnoy or high dollar frozen ones. You're not getting a 5 star meal so just keep it simple.

-We're Freschetta people. The supreme is F'n dope.

-Ah, the tradition of my wife and sister in law peppering me with Christmas gift ideas all of which I politely decline, me giving them a great idea for something I would never buy myself but would actually love, and them shooting it down.

"Would you really like/love/use that, though?"

K guess not.

-Haven't been hit with the *spirit* yet. Bumming me out a bit. Seems to be a little later and later each year for me tbh, but it always happens.

-Ever get dumped in December (post college)? That was brutal, man. I don't remember every Christmas, but I do that one. Sucked.

-My 9 year old lady is mourning the loss of her hamster which passed this week. "Chairman Mao" was a decent little fella. Loved his hamster wheel and never bit anyone. But she's genuinely bummed, so I had to whip her up a batch of my chili last night (her favorite).

The unrelenting, enormous amount of everything we do for our kids is out of love, but most of it is instinctual in nature. The best part of parenting is when you do something because you love them, even if it's a mid-week pot of chili.

She crushed a couple bowls and smiled again. #whywedothis

-Christmas movies can grow stale, but I'll go back and watch a Christmas episode from a series just the same. Downton, The Crown, and The West Wing are 3 fantastic episodes from a drama series.

-Cal to UCLA would have been fun (and best case), but his fat ass getting shipped back to the Midwest too play IU every year would have been superb.

-Last day of school before Christmas Break is *ELITE*. This Friday/Saturday are the premier sleepover calendar dates for ages 9-13, right?

-Just keep it under 10 Saturday, I guess.

-totinos combination pizza+added cheese+salami/prosciutto = profit.

-been putting some final touches on studio space...using old strands of "clear" Xmas lights as accent lighting, some posters/old memorabilia on the walls...a little fine art. It's a happy place.

-to be clear...never said OC was "hot", I said I had a thing for her. As an adult, your brain is just as important as your genitals when it comes to these things. If you don't get that...I don't know what to tell you.

-worst part of traveling with 3 women is the packing neuroses. It's three days...keeping it light would seem like the play, but what do I know.

-wife and I aren't doing gifts this year (her idea)...honestly if either of us want something we generally get it for ourselves. As you can imagine I'm not easy to buy for...particular as hell and whatnot.

^I'm sure we'll find her some jewelry in NYC next week anywho.

Increasingly convinced that Little Caesar’s is the way to go for crappy takeout pizza.

Before 'TIL INFLATION, a walk-up 'za was $5, and the deep dish upgrade was $6. Had to be the best food deal of my lifetime. Their regular pizza is pretty terrible, but their deep dish is at least pretty solid.

Pretty shocked not everyone just picks up the 4 pack of kirklands from Costco for their frozen pizza - really not that hard folks

Watched Fred Claus last night - god what a shit fest. Vince Vaughn hit a dynamite string of success there for 5 years playing the same exact character in every movie. Was in like 10 great movies. Hope he saved his money well - seeing him on Curb last year was startling. Dude is aging in dog years.

Italian Cheese Bread add pepperoni or sausage and dip it in ranch was my gluttonous Little Caesars play.

I'm not a fan of tomato/pizza sauce (I eat pizza but it's never something I crave for myself) so it was basically a deep dish pizza without the sauce and extra spices for $5.

Little Caesar’s is good unless you’ve had it within the last month. Per the CDC, that’s about the length of your post-ingestion immunity to recognizing its shittiness. After a month it’s okay again.

I know everyone hates teachers and considers us to be below child molesters and Nazis, but this 2 week vacation couldn't come at a better time. I'm coaching two basketball teams, HC at one and assistant at another, and it's running me ragged. At the end of the day though, I'm always smiling because it's all about the kids.

On that front, I have so many parents that I have to keep contact with that I just entered the student's name as the contact info to avoid confusion. However, one of my player's moms goes by Roni. If you know me well, you'll know one thing I've always wanted to do in life was to perform Roni by Bobby Brown in front of a room full of black women. I've had this dream ever since I was a kid. So when it came time to enter this player's mom into my contact info, I kept it as Roni. So now I have a Roni that calls and texts often.

I know my optimism about the basketball team is as about as welcome here as a UKO post these days, but I feel good about Saturday. We were 7-2 last here heading into the CBS Classic before finally busting out. It's coming with this team. I just hope some of you are able to enjoy it when it does happen.

Took the lady to the West Baden Hotel last weekend for her birthday. GD that place is immaculate!

Little Ceasers is awful. I can't even touch it anymore. Crazy Bread is the only item worthy of consumption at that establishment.

Most underrated aspect of White Lotus S2?
Valentina's ass!

Don't mean to be Debbie Downer over here but frozen pizza and breakfast cereals were named specifically in a Brazilian study of cognitive decline and Alzheimers/Dementia.

The findings? Those who ate 20% or more of their daily calories from ultra-processed foods had a 28% faster rate of cognitive decline, and a 25% faster rate of executive function decline

Ironically enough, that probably applies to 80%+ healthcare workers when I was working in the field. Most everyone ordered out every night and were obese, especially night shift, comfort food for working awful hours basically.

* Got dumped right before Christmas one year and it sucked.

* Real life not riling GYERO up prediction for Saturday: I have no idea. Wouldn't be surprised if we got rolled. I have zero confidence in this team right now.

Hit some shots, get out and run and profit. Keep stupid lineups to a minimum. When Wheeler is out there (20-25 minutes, please) have 2 of Wallace, Reeves, Fredrick or Thiero with him. He gets our shooters the ball in positions to score when he is used as he should be.

Speaking of Thiero... let's give him a few meaningful minutes.

There should never be more than 2 of Oscar, Toppin, Collins, Ware or Ugo on the floor at the same time.

Let's get CJ going.

Let's keep Oscar out of fouls trouble.

I hate Cronin.

* Have to do an up and back to Columbus tonight to observe Research Groups watching my spots. Not much I'd rather do less.

* Good luck Valentine. I think you'd improve your stock a bunch by coming back a year, but oh well.

* Bowl game is gonna be like a JV game.

* Leary would be a nice Christmas present for Stoops.

The Alfredo Sauce Five Cheese from Papa is about the only one I will eat these days, tomato sauce just too rough on the ole boy anymore.

Good thing Iowa's offense isn't worth a damn. I've called Valentine Karl Booker 2.0 for the past two years but despite his play annoying me, I'd rather our starting corner at least play the bowl game. Oh well, bring in the kid from OSU, Syracuse, and maybe 1 more Corner in the portal. I wish him well but aside from Wandale, those Aspirations kids seem like head cases. I wouldn't be surprised to see Kiyaunta Goodwin roll out eventually, especially if he stays fat.

- The only recent Christmas movie I've enjoyed was "A Boy Called Christmas"...a nice little family watch on Netflix.

- Don't mind "Christmas Story", "Christmas Vacation", "Elf", etc., but they wear on me pretty quickly. However, I'll always sit through an entire viewing of "It's a Wonderful Life" or "Miracle on 34th Street".

- Much more a fan of Christmas TV specials. The old Rankin-Bass specials, though clearly created by people with severe drug addictions, are still fun. "How Murray Saved Christmas", which first aired on NBC about 10 years ago, always cracks me up. And "Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas" is still the all-time GOAT Christmas special, imo.

- Another thing I can't resist this time of year for some reason...Christmas episodes of old (pre-1980's) TV shows. Even shows I didn't watch as a kid....if it's a Christmas episode, I'll stop and watch late at night by the light of the tree. Just me pining for a simpler time, I guess.

- And while we're at it, when it comes to non-carol Christmas songs, it's "Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)" by Darlene Love, and then it's everything else.

- I know she'll be home for the holidays even after she goes away to college, but it's still pretty bittersweet knowing that this is the last Christmas *at home* for my HS senior. Kinda stressful trying to pack in all the holiday stuff we want to do "one last time" with her between now and NYD.

- The days are long and the years are short. Life is a vapor. Enjoy, friends. Let us pray.

Totally get this. One thing I honestly struggle with is everyone wanting slap hi-tech wrist watches and Google glasses and all this junk. I guess some people want to be a robot or think they’re iron man but count me OUT.

A smart phone is too much for me sometimes and i think why am I on this so much? Given it’s cool and you can access everything in the world from it, but the 10 years plus I spent in KW NO ONE even had computers, maybe to watch tv or Netflix but that was it. No need for the damn things. There was literally no need and simplified everything.

Hell, when I started this new job I was trying to turn on a computer and asked the front desk where the tower was for the PC so I could turn it on. They said it’s right there on the desk. I said, no not the monitor the hard drive and all that. They said yeah that’s all of it right there. Gods honest truth I had zero idea that was even a thing. Quickly got an okay boomer from the front desk lad.

At the Lindsey Wilson job they were like just plug those injuries into excel, add red to players that are out, yellow for those that are questionable and green for those that are a go. I said hold on, excel? I haven’t used that since 2006.

People legit look at me like I’m being silly when really I’m basically Brooks from Shawshank seeing that the “world went and got itself into a big damn hurry.”

When I pay this house off in 7-10 years I’ll probably heavily consider buying 10-50 acres out wherever and just chill and not be bothered except when I go to town.

I just want to workout, grow my garden, smoke some weed before bed, shoot guns and hangout with friends and lassies.

Appreciate all the “new” Xmas move recs. I’ll try them out. I still don’t think they kinda fit what I’m looking for, but I’m probably chasing nostalgia more than anything.

Love Xmas break for the kids. For one, I don’t have to get anyone up and dressed for school for 2 weeks, but it just kinda puts me into the season. Like SAE, it does feel like it’s taking longer and longer each year to FEEL like Christmas. probably has to do with age and responsibilities and other life stresses. But loading up the car and going to southern lights at the horse park on a Tuesday night usually does the trick.

Waiting on a few last items to arrive is always stressing. Been arguing with the nice people at evoshield all morning about a custom leg guard for my oldest. Kiss my ass. Kiss his ass. Kiss your ass. And so on and such as

My wife and I usually send each other something relatively cheap on Amazon we want and open them in front of the kids so they know what a happy marriage is supposed to look like 1 day out of the year. Gives everyone the warm and fuzzies for a few minutes. One of my favorite traditions.

The disparity between a good tangerine and bad tangerine is miles long. And you can always tell the second you start to peel it what you’re in for.

Kentucky is going to lose to UCLA in a slow, boring fashion. Down early, mild comeback at halftime, then never really in it during the second half and lose by 11-16. Same shit different day.

Mags was ranting yesterday that there’s a disconnect with Cal and the fans bc he doesn’t do shows like his anymore, seems out of touch, etc. Nah man. There’s a disconnect bc he’s been trash since 2017. If he was kicking everyone’s ass again we’d all be in love again. It’s that simple. Just freaking win. Idc if he goes to Fitch’s IGA in Wilmore and signs autographs or goes on tv and slings ale 8 1. Just beat other teams like a drum and smile while doing it and we are GOOD.

- Over the past 5-7 years, I have failed to get into the holiday spirit. Families are growing up, growing apart, loss of parents, coaching, etc. I go back and look at old Christmas pictures (especially this time last year) and I look so stressed and tired. It's really sad to see. It's terrible because I know my wife felt that stress and just allowed me to work through it. But it's not fair to put that on her and the kids. It's nothing overly depressing. It's just change . . . and it's me being fully emerged into a sports season.

So this year, I'm making a concentrated effort to make myself stop, breathe, and enjoy the holidays. New traditions, enjoying the remaining time with kids in the house, listening to Christmas music, enjoying the glow of the tree as I sip on a little bourbon and chew on a peppermint stick. It's time to get back to basics and enjoy the little things. God bless us everyone atkot

- I had no idea how difficult it must be to perfect the sweatshirt with leggings look. Every single day my daughter makes us late out the door because she spends so long getting ready. You would think she's getting dressed up like it's the prom or something. She comes out to the vehicle wearing a sweatshirt, leggings, and OnClouds every single morning. #girldadproblems

- My son has become about as bad. The feathered, floppy bangs have got to go, y'all. He spends up to 10-15 minutes wetting the front of his hair, scrubbing it dry with a towel, throwing in just the right amount of product while letting it fall into place. Then he gets pissed, slams some stuff around and starts over. It's hilarious.

- Why are sausage balls and party mix limited to this time of year? I think I could enjoy some sausage balls every 2 months or so throughout the year., and my love of party mix has been well documented in this thread.

- I still have zero takes on this basketball team. Hoping for the best, but I don't their best is going to be good enough. Nor do I think they will be inspired to become their best. No need to go into detail; there is 7 years worth of evidence that has been rehashed thoroughly.

- Chris Beard's f-up is a shame. I have no idea what happened and can reserve moral judgement, but I'd say the promising season and Texas's arrival as an annual contender have gone bye-bye for a while.

- Time to go graze in the faculty lounge. Whywedothis!

Geez, strokin nailed it with the teenage boy hair thing right now. My 11yo intentionally makes his hair look like shit every morning but that’s the LOOK. Every damn kid in school is doing it. I guess it’s better (?) than the hard-part fade look from a few years ago but still.

Used to have the connection in the early 90s for high quality and significantly reduced price Starter Gear vis a vis Space-A Hop to Osan AB, Korea $20 each

Also inadvertently brought back some "LE Gear" shoes that were definitely supposed to be "LAGear" -- but hey ---

shit was fun & mostly legal
I think I've been to that one in 1998 I believe. Was there some fashion of "Joe" in the name of the place?
