I really wish I could keep making fun of all the goofballs who are spending thousands of dollars to go watch this bum ass team play on a different continent, but damn. Of the friends I've got who are going, I'm not sure any of them really even give a s***. More like a European vacay with a quick little side trip to see a ballgame.

So good them. Should be an awesome trip.
That’s cute of you to feel this way since we aren’t going. Cause Lord knows you’d be making plenty of fun if we were.

The sickness this Fall has been an absolute bitch. I thought maybe it was because it's my first year with kids in school but it's been everyone. My wife was sick when we went on vacation for fall break the first week of October and someone in our house has been sick every day since then. RSV, Flu, stomach flu, sinus infections, ear infections, just absolute misery.
It is almost as if our immune systems have been weakened. 🤷‍♂️

We arrive 10am Saturday. Check in, grab some lunch, have a stroll, and then USA/Netherlands at a pub or beer garden w/ all the lads.

Sunday England match should just be absolutely bonkers. All the crazy special event setups for that one look wild, and there are 100s, obviously.

Undecided on UK Game. Imagine we'll end up going just b/c and I'm already facing resistance about skipping....but absolutely could not care less. At worst, 2 hours, then onto better things. Still Think I'll be pushing for the England match by that point.

The arena looks cool, though. Has all sorts of other stuff, and You can actually go up and play around on the roof or some shit -- won't be doing that, unless it's to just jump off when we're down 18 at halftime.

-Considering how he spends 98% of his free time while also "spending thousands of dollars" on a near monthly basis to travel around to BFE to run/walk/watch/pace races, I wouldn't be too concerned w/ PTI(pti)'s mocking of people's choices for travel/leisure.

Having watched World Cup matches with locals in Europe, I can speak from a position of knowledge in saying if there’s a WC game the same time as our game in London- skip the basketball and take in the soccer at a pub or better yet one of the watch parties in a park or something. You’ll have a lot more fun.

"which of these guards comes out, so he can get more minutes" 😭

Yeah, umm, that has nothing to do with the GODDAM 4 POSITION.

Keep dreaming. His increased minutes, if they come, will come at the expense of CJ/Tone; don't be silly.
You rube. Modern basketball teams often play lineups with as many as 4 guards and a F/C playing inside. Just like UK is known to play, here in 2022.

Glad I spent the first 3/4 of the game last night doing the book for my daughter's 5th grade game. (She poured in 8 in a tough 17-14 loss, thanks for asking.)

I know he looked great in the Bahamas, but I'm ready to put Collins on the bench until garbage time. I still think he could be a good one, but he's not ready right now.

Here's my minutes distribution against decent opponents.

PG - Wheeler 20, Wallace 20
SG/SF - Reeves 30, Fredrick 30, Wallace 10, Thierro 10
PF - Toppin 20, Livingston 20
C - Oscar 30, Toppin 5, Ware 5

And if someone is red hot, please don't touching take them out.

I think we all agree that no more than 2 of Oscar, Toppin, Ware, Collins, Kingsley-ugo-Adabayo & Livingston should be on the floor at the same time.

Kick me in the nuts and call me Vern, but I still think we are going to the Final Four this year. We're gonna peak in March instead of January.

It really is simple, IMO.

There are basically 7 guys who must play.

At the 1,2,3 - Wallace, Wheeler, Reeves and Fredrick

At the 4 - Toppin, Livingston

At the 5 - Oscar

There must be 3 guards on the court at all times, similar to the 2019-20 season. When there are injuries or foul trouble causing you to dip beyond those 4, Thiero is the answer.

Livingston is the primary sub for Toppin at the 4. Ware in a pinch.

Oscar's replacement is situational depending upon matchups coming from a pool of Ware, Collins & Ugo. Also need to seriously consider rolling Toppin to the 5 and playing him with Livingston at the 4.

After years of watching Calipari here the one thing he wants, that fans apparently do not, is a rim protector. Enter Collins/Ware, because Oscar is not a rim protector.

That’s simply all there is to the decision to play them.

I value rim protectors as much as a straight guy taking a prison shower.

If we are going to play Fredrick and Reeves as much as we want, there are going to be a lot of opposing guards driving to the basket.

But for all of the blocked shots that Collins and Ware (and Ugo) can give you, they allow way too many easy baskets by getting out of position, outsmarted, out rebounded or simply pushed aside.

Givens sounded like he wanted to puke several times during the game last night. Cal likely the only person in the building who doesn't realize he's clueless about modern basketball.

The bulk of the minutes at the 4 and 5 need to be split between Oscar, Toppin, and Livingston. Toppin should be the chief back up at the 5 when Oscar sits with Livingston running the 4.

Collins and Ware should (1) exclusively play the 5 and (2) should only get situational minutes when Toppin can't be Oscar's backup at center (which should be rare).

The ONLY reason he needs a rim protector is because his defensive philosophy is as antiquated as his offense.
The game has passed Robert Montgomery Calipari but not his ego/dementia.

-Look at him out there gloating and acting all chesty likes it 2012 and we're rolling. It's not, we struggled with a severely undermanned, basically D2 team. Thankfully our size really bothered them because our f*cking disgusting offense certainly didn't. What a sham of a game. Too bad BU didn't hit enough of those open 3's to keep it tight.

-I'm glad everyone is starting to notice him benching players as soon as they get hot. Same with the 2nd half under 16 lineups. This has been going on since 2011, btw. He just doesn't care to have at least 3 guys who can score on the court at all times. I remember losing my shit the 2013 season over the same shit.

-Nothing is going to change, he's obviously dug in and dead set that he's going to win his way(he won't) just to prove the naysayers wrong.

-Am I crazy or is something a little off with Oscar?

-If you're going to London and UK is playing, you gotta go. Even with this weird shit team. Probably catch the 2nd half of the England game pretty easily and the post game celebrash.

With ZERO reservations ----> GO HEELS!

Before you start with smart fan shit, F UNC. They're marginal AF, just like us and almost everyone else I've seen this season.

Yeah, "IU is irrelevant since forever, who cares about them Or college basketball? Lolz"

UT football wasn't relevant for 15 years either, and you saw how quickly that border fanbase got silly.

F Cal, but have some Kentucky Basketball pride, and MEMORY. I know damn well 98% of this thread is old enough to remember IU Basketball, and our rivalry. It didn't just disappear. It will always be there.

F*** the Indiana Hoosier Basketball Program forever.

-I went to Trader Joe's last night and grabbed a plastic canister of the dark chocolate peanut butter cups. Apparently I squeezed it a little too hard, because the top popped off and the cups spilled out all over the floor. I blame GYERO for this embarrassing mishap.

-Being offensive coordinator under Stoops is like being the drummer for Spinal Tap. I don't know who the next OC will be, but I fully expect to see him spontaneously combust on the sidelines next season, or get killed in a bizarre accident when the QB intentionally throws one out of bounds and hits him in the head.
