Today for the first time in my life at my in-laws I had a delicacy you caucasians have no doubt perfected over the years. Similar to the first time I enjoyed the exotic taste of a sushi roll or spoonful of crème brûlée I found myself delighted with every consecutive taste. Either with a thin slice of cheese or alone the captivating texture and spice was just too much to put down. How did they do this? How long has this been around that I’ve never even heard about it? After eating almost an entire box I’m still left wondering: how did you manage to get this chicken in a biscuit? How did you white people capture this poultry/cracker combination at its zenith? To you I say bravo and happy thanksgiving, you’ve done it again!

- Dark over white when it comes to turkey meat.

I'd be just fine eating 3 dozen deviled eggs with rolls, to be honest.

- Churchill Downs is TRASH 363 days of the year. When I say trash, I mean the track and atmosphere. The epitome of putting lipstick on a pig during Oaks and Derby.

- I don't care the opponent, but that was a win I really needed in my UK life. Keep THAT up.

- The World Cup is a fun GAMBOL experience, but that sport is a tease.

Like having a 90-minute make out session, complete with sloppy kissing, hands all over the body (fully clothed), and a humongous boner...then told, "I think we need to stop."

Just started betting TIE in the first half.

Why is this sport so popular? Go USA!

- Not sure why I still watch Survivor--call it loyalty from day one--but that Reward Challenge win (no spoilers) last night by _____ was one of the greatest "never give up" feats ever by a contestant.

- Having a mom with 8 brothers and sisters was damn fun for Thanksgiving. A million cousins meeting up (some you only see once a year) and organizing our annual Turkey Bowl Nerf football game.

The touchdown lines were two Stan Harvey gas tanks (one in my grandpa's yard, the other in his neighbor's).

Our uncles were the QB's. My go-to play--as a receiver--was to run 5 yards, juke the right 5 more, then sprint all the way down looking for a deep pass.

Remember catching it one time (the only time that worked) for a TD and almost running square into that neighbor's Stan Harvey tank.

I was big man campus to me that day; carried that Nerf ball around all day.

Not sure the score of any game, but it was just a damn glorious time to be alive.

Then went home and scored about 50 points on the Nerf hoop.

Now that I think about it, those nerf football and basketballs were the best toys ever.

- Let's bet some Churchill, NFL and World Cup (ties).

@PTI (pti)

44:54 10K Turkey Trot time. First race since September after having knee issues. I'm happy with it.

@august-west has been killing it as a new runner. Quickly building speed and endurance. I'll let him post his Turkey Trot thoughts.

Always good seeing the Beagle. He’s obviously never seen a TV camera he didn’t like. Finished in under 29 minutes which is about 4 minutes faster than my first one in September. Started out 1st mile real fast, the 2nd mile I slowed a bit and the 3rd was even slower. Gotta learn how to pace myself but I did it. Not too bad for a an old guy that just quit smoking in September

I know it's fun to give shit to PTI for running, but adore and admire his dedication. I started walking/running during COVID and I tried to do 25 miles (for charity) and it took me from 9am to midnight to get it done.

You want dedication?

Friend of mine is doing a challenge this week.

7 days = 100 miles / 100 beers

He’s an extremely talented runner, and also drinks more than anyone I know. He’ll knock that out relatively easily.

Someone who smoked a cigarette "well?"

Keith Richards & Joan Crawford

Cleveland Browns
Portland Trailblazers

I’ve consumed entirely too much wine already today. Ready for bed

-First Thanksgiving and Christmas without my Dad this year. Cherish all the time you have together with your loved ones because once they are gone, they’re gone and it really fvcking sucks, man.

I know we’ve beat it to death but it is lame af we don’t ever play in any of these tournaments anymore. This PK tourney is loaded.

Hope Cal’s fat ass is enjoying his Turducken.

Sleep Paralysis

Had it quite a bit in my 30’s… just a wild, wild experience. Never had the hallucinations that some talk about but I got to the point that I could bring myself out of it by concentrating on being able to hear what was going on around me in the mornings (everything would start out completely silent then I would tell myself to hear the sounds of the fan, birds outside, etc). Not being able to hear bothered me more than not being able to move.

It’s awful. I’ve had it throughout my life - not often, maybe 50x - nearly always when falling back asleep in the morning after first awakening. My mind would awake but my entire body stayed asleep. I think my mild sleep apnea was likely the culprit. Never had hallucinations, feelings of evil or anything like that.

The Apple & Strawberry pies I baked were epic.

Brought a Glencairn and a bottle of Compass Box Phenomenology Scotch over to my sisters. About killed that thing.

My BILs bar is different than mine, albeit his was my inspiration. Mine more loungey and spacious… tunes.

Absolutely hammered. Good times.

My Old Fashioned Cocktail recipe:

2oz Old Fo Rye 100 proof
1/4 oz simple syrup
1/4 oz Woodford Reserve Bourbon Cherry juice
5 drops Woodford Reserve Spiced Cherry Bitters
1 drop orange essential oil
1 Woodford Reserve Bourbon Cherry

Profit.

Just trying to remember the last one. I know Knight hit one against OSU to send us to the elite 8. Fox against an Ivy League team in round 1. Harrison hit 3 or 4 in the 2014 tournament. I just couldn’t remember. Hard to believe it’s been 8 years since we have hit a game winner. That’s why I asked.
