Big Pharma spends hundreds of millions of dollars a year to line the pockets of politicians on both sides of the aisle to buy their favor, they pay off the regulatory agencies to look the other way while their products kill tens of thousands of americans a year, they completely F over consumers with price gouging tactics that make their executives filthy rich, and they consistently lied about the effectiveness of their COVID vaccines/boosters.

I got my vaxx, but I'm done doing business with those folks. You've got to be some kind of completely blind fool to look past ALL OF THAT just to push your totally biased agenda.

-WCC's next child will probably be named Moderna or a play on Pfizer. Little 'Derna Pfiz.

-You don't come to tailgates because you don't have permission. Let's be real.

-Thought PTI owned the worst take of the day but Chad getting pissed at people getting their job back is right there next to the douche level of PTI. Tough work, guys.

-Coal miner probably wore the grime and uniform as a badge of honor. Those jobs are big time out there and sounds like he's a young dude working his tail off. I know we're skeptical of everything these days but hopefully it's an all positive story.

-70-75 degrees most of the next week. Hopefully it ruins your November.

-Truff is fantastic.

Trying to push past the political stuff, because the democrats are going to learn their lesson two weeks from today - can you imagine a Final 4 in Nashville that involved UK?

100K in town for the party alone IMO.

Going where that big parking lot is now. The one by the dilapidated, or used to be, hotel.

Here’s a feel good story…
I think I’ve mentioned my dad has dementia, still does alright plays golf regularly but has stopped recognizing certain people or responding to conversations he doesn’t understand or get, as does his wife now. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Well her family is some pretty crazy Christian types and her sisters came and talked her into going to visit them across the state (Michigan) a few days back and she obliged, packed a small bag and left with them.

Sisters are now saying they’re refusing to return her and she’s staying with them because her son and his wife that were basically living with them weren’t giving them proper care. He’s a detective and I’ve spoken with him many times, he’s doing it because he’s a kid son not because he and his wife want to live with an elderly couple with dementia. I mean, that alone sounds miserable.

Anyway, if the sisters don’t bring her back there’s not much anyone can do about it so he and his wife would leave the house leaving my dad with no license, but no idea he’s not supposed to be driving, no one to live with and unable to care for himself. Thus the state of Michigan is in overdrive trying to get him committed somewhere while I’m waiting for my POA papers to show up with everything else I moved up from KW.

Now I’m in overdrive applying for a mortgage loan to buy a house as he’d have nowhere else to go until I could find assisted living for him(can’t afford a new house and assisted living for him). He’s got plenty of money but there’s no way for anyone to access it for who knows how long.
Anyway, that’s your uplifting Michigan story of the day!

Long and boring to most but thought maybe someone else has been in that situation and could shed some light for me, I have no idea what I’m doing with all this.

PS-My sister in law began a 9-10 hour brain surgery at the Mayo Clinic today to remove a tumor…

Hit up Chase on socials. He should be able to point you in the right direction.

I hate to rain on the parade but just note that in NY the "Supreme Court" is just the name of the trial court. The top appellate court that people would think of as the "Supreme Court" in most jurisdictions is the Court of Appeals. So this would, I imagine, certainly be appealed and have a ways to go.

Let's hope for a win there also.

Quick hitters:

*Keenland was awesome. Saw Richie and won $200 on the way out.

*Got a midget to say midget Saturday night. Almost pissed myself.

*Made Chili Sunday. I almost killed myself with the hot sauce the kiddos game me for Father's Day. Flatline "The End."

As a procedural note, in New York the Supreme Court is actually a lower level trial court. Court of Appeals is the highest court.

Stay tuned…

I have no idea what the final decision will be on the vaccine stuff but I am almost certain that when it gets to the NY Ct of Appeals, they will reverse the NY Supreme Court (which is basically like a random district judge in LeX or Lou in Kentucky. The NY Ct of Appeals is very liberal

But people see “NY Supreme Court” get excited, not knowing the way NY does their court system. I think firing people over the vaccine stuff was likely a mistake from a policy perspective but I can’t imagine a court of substance will say a government can’t ever do it in any circumstance. But we shall see

On another note, I am worried about the whole NIL thing with us and football going forward. This off-season will tell us a lot. But I am worried about whether our donor base is ready for what we need to do going forward. We will know one way or the other by July. The amount of money isn’t crazy but I am not sure we have enough people ready to step up. We shall see

I believe profit sharing with the players is the end result. Hard to say the schools don’t have enough $$ with the type of facilities they are building and the ridiculous coaching contracts. The $$ is there for everyone to have a healthy cut… it’s just not allocated fairly at the moment.

Please support our poor, underfunded athletic department.
I totally get this mindset and agree with it. But it’s not the system now. And our rivals, at least at this moment, seem to have more donors willing to throw money away to players. I wonder if that is sustainable but we will find out. I think this summer with the transfer portal, not just here but around the country, will tell us a lot

Let’s not discount the reach of WWH when it comes to getting sh!t done on behalf of the football program ..

Eventually some court or agency will declare that some group of college athletes are employees. And this will open the floodgates for others to make that claim. IIRC, there is already a case in the Third Circuit where that issue will be decided.

IMO, the result will be the end of college athletics because an "employment" finding would require the payment of minimum wages, overtime wages, ability to form a union, workers comp, unemployment, employee benefits, ability to bring discrimination and harassment complaints.

I mean can you imagine a black player filing a race discrimination charge because a head coach benches him in favor of a white player? The possibilities for claims are endless. I don't see how universities could stay in the sports business.

Oh the pool of people with disposable income that are willing to just write blank checks to 18 year old kids to play football for UK is small around Lexington?

Perhaps, I don't know, growing the pool would be a good idea rather than simply focusing on the very select few truly wealthy people who can do it.

Give a shit about them rather than the simply the 0.01% who can pay for WOODFORD LOGE COAL SUITES. Start there.

Plenty of folks would become more involved if UK even hinted at improving their experience with the program, gameday, etc. But UK won't do that.

- Texas A&M is finding out NIL, especially with true freshmen, may not be a great thing. They just indefinitely suspended 4 of their #1 recruiting class.

- Elon officially closes the Twitter deal on Friday. In light of the people not losing their jobs discussion earlier, Twitter workers have some demands.

We can and should all laugh at UofL, but when it's rolling every fan that wants to be a part of it certainly has an opportunity to do so. At UK, it's the haves/have nots. Buy your season tickets and shut TF up. That has consequences.
Totally agree with this and your other post

I wasn’t criticizing our fans or donors in any way. Just pointing out the issue I thought you folks might find interesting. I will see myself out again

To Love and lost, will prolly need to happen to UK success trajectory before the NIL mindset kicks in. We just see the tube of the wave right now. Not the eminent crash into the coral reef.

Nebraska football will have the psycho factor and those cornpone weirdos will eventually buy back a moderate level of success. They will employ Tennessee logic with straight cash homie.

How much money does it take to keep a player happy?
As most businesses don't have 6 figures a year to throw away on an unproven athlete, it's a tricky proposition.
What of that money is diverted from what they normally give to the coal lodge?
If you're asking $5-$10k from a private company, that might not be much to ask, but as SAE says, show a little love.
