- this place (especially my neighborhood) is incredible for 30-something, educated, white, active young professionals. tons of hot chicks, and every single dude looks like bbdk's twin brother.
- been here 2 weeks now, and haven't seen a single mask, with the exception of half the Tesla driving dickheads in Whole Foods running around being all virtuous
- also have seen about 3 people the entire time who are overweight. just an incredibly healthy/active/fit place

* Filed an homeowners insurance claim on a whim, even though we didn't have a ton of damage from Ida. Of course we pointed out every tiny little thing to the adjuster and blamed it on the storm, and what do ya know? Got a big ass check on the way, even after an $8k deductible. You truly are in good hands with Allstate.

* Comedy is more about the delivery than the material, and I thought Theo Von was pretty damn good. His "redneck bro" shtick is very solid, and for some reason I was cracking up about Quizno's being a haven for homosexuals.

* Have a friend whose dad died last week. This guy is absolutely the most picture perfect Marine I've ever met in my life -- incredibly friendly, likeable, but has just a superhuman gift for class/integrity/loyalty/etc. At the service he presented his own mother with a flag to honor his dad's service. Talk about a tear jerker. And of course, he didn't crack one bit.

* You can tell a lot about someone by the way they attend or do not attend the Morgan Wallen show in December.

So, drxman. How good are your tickets for this one?

* Remember when we used to call things "super spreader events?" God, that was insufferable.

* Totally cool with seeing a Braves victory here, because I love the way they've built around their core group of youngsters over the past 5 years. I'll take them in 6.

- Sports pet peeve....when athletes have to have more than just the first initial of their first name on the back of their jerseys if they share a last name with a teammate. I get why, I just hate it.

Will always respect Field Williams of Cincinnati dropping his last name completely and just putting Field on the back of his jersey, I remember his name almost 20 years later soley because of that reason.

-I enjoyed the special. Thought it was incredibly smart. To each their own though. I'd never heard of the guy until last Thursday.

-I wagered with Ursch that he'll never leave CO. Feel pretty good about that bet. Seems like it's made for him. NOLA was a fantastic place to visit but CO seems like an awesome place to live.

-Taking in the Fall Meet later this week. Looks like the autumn colors should be popping.

Tuesday Shorts:

-Watched the Theo last night -- definitely some funny moments when he stuck w/ racial or controversial stuff...but didn't really enjoy his longer stories, not really for me overall. Probably didn't help that I watched it coming off Chapelle's last 2.

-Watched the first 3 episodes of that HBO Max Doc about the Weight-loss Church Cult down in Brentwood/Franklin - pretty wild, as they all are (to me).

Just absolutely worship anything about cults - it's just fascinating to me. Same for Prison & North Korea. Not sure what that means, but probably something.

-Definitely nervous about the Football game. Not b/c I expect the 'same ole Kentucky' letup -- we're mostly past that. But b/c they're a pretty good, dangerous team. We'll have to play a good game to win, imo - guess I'm the only one who thinks the line is about right?

-Anyone used Babbel? My Spanish has improved a bunch over the years due to my business makeup, but I've wanted to REALLY learn to speak the language for a long time...just hard for me to stick with it enough to really take the next step.

-BRax posted a huge tray of Cinnamon Rolls that looked fresh from the oven to his FB Story this morning...lmao. I mean, I'm all for a special cinnamon roll morning, Mom used to allow a few times per year, worshipped....but, definitely not on a TUESDAY before school. Seems about right for Rax tho - cracked me up for some reason.

-Hard to believe 2 weeks from today it's UK/Duke in the Garden. Shew. All in on Football like everyone else...but eek.

-Hate missing the UT home game, but an NYC Saturday of Breeders Cup + UK/UT at Demsey's will do *just* fine. Never gets old having a legit UK bar right in the middle of Manhattan, such a cool little deal -- imagine it will be extry hype for the Football game w/ BBN in town.

^ bonus points for the late addition of SAE for the Basketball game. I shouldn't have to remind folks of our impeccable 'big game' record together. Excited for his first MSG experience - nothing quite like it.

-For anyone heading to Vegas for CBS Classic, chatter in Vegas last week amongst dealers/bartenders was the mask mandate going away (again) Mid-November. 🌟

Cinnamon Rolls as a special occasion? Maybe giant homemade ones but we pop a can of Pillsbury with some eggs and fruit regularly on the weekend. Granted the kids only get a tiny dab of icing.

Pro tip is to bake them in the air fryer, takes like 6-8 minutes. Same thing with canned biscuits.

Spent the weekend in Breckinridge. Stayed in a cabin, hiked, crafties, got absolutely killed by the altitude, debated staying there and letting the family figure things out… mountains, man.

1. Braves are in the WS tonight. Bernie and a few others have inquired about going. Standing room tickets are going for $1200. In Houston, however, you can get pretty good seats for around $650. That might be a good plan B for games 6 and 7 if that happens.
2. I haven't analyzed the series yet, but the Astros lineup, even without cheating, is legit but not as good as the Dodgers. I still don't see them being a -150 favorite though. That seems high given the way the Braves have been playing plus getting Soler back.
3. Speaking of being back, it's funny to see how pro sports leagues are now dealing with criminal/potential criminal situations with their stars. It's a "that's future NFL/MLB's problem" approach. Ozuna from the Braves and Watson from the Texans are just sort of in limbo. It's just a big stall at this point. Was my approach for dealing with homework in college.
4. The Georgia game could have been the most important game in the history of the program, but now the Miss St game becomes the most important game of the season. We win that and I don't see us doing worse than 10-2. Getting smoked could trigger a 2007-like loss spiral where we go from ranked in the top 15 to unranked in a matter of weeks. I think we bounce back well, however. Cats 31-17.
5. Good to see Pretzel throw up big weight on the bench (with perfect form) while listening to Death Metal full blast.
6. JCPS tests all kids weekly - or at least the ones in elementary school. If you think that’s bad there’s a guy named Chris Kolb on the school board.

No, no it won’t, and we won’t get smoked. Still I don’t even want to lose this game(obvious). In a year that we most likely beat UF, LSU, UT and UL I want an iconic bowl to cap it off.

There is no shame in dropping a road game in the SEC, but there is a lot to be said by not dropping it tho and this coach, and these kids have earned this.

Had to drive all over the place and listen to sports radio all day. I think I recorded how long Chris Cross talked about sports compared to just commercials and restaurants one hour... it was like 6 minutes of actual content and the rest ads. "Tell 'em Chris Cross said get ovah here."

I’ll cook cinnamon rolls probably once a week for the older 3. They usually make themselves cereal in a solo cup before they rush out of the door. I actually don’t even like the pillsbury kind. Just posted it out of spite of my wife who cooks them illegally spaced out on a large cookie sheet. I had my usual Starbucks cheese danish.

Re the Chris Cross take. I lived next to him the last 2 years I lived in Lexington. Every time I’d see him I’d say “Get ova here” or whatever the cheesy catch phrase he used. He hated it but I didn’t care because he had these 2 little yappy ass dogs that were a real nusiance. Barked all the damn time and shit in our yard, which usually was thrown back over the fence. He was an asshole.
