Honestly, I’m not sure this is fixable.
Can we be good again under Cal? Sure, I think we will underachieve with the style he’s coaching but we can be good as long as he can recruit.
But the cold war he has waged with the fanbase is a losing battle.

On the radio today Mags was asked if Barnhart could tell Calipari to make changes at the end of they year and he straight up said no, there’s nothing really Barnhart can do about it. The only way any changes are made are if Cal decides to make them himself.

If there’s one thing Cal and Mitch have in common, it’s their hatred of BJW. Even if Mitch was allowed to speak to Cal, things wouldn’t work out in our favor. It will take a a collection of prominent UK guys and boosters like it did last time.

That’s a pretty sweeping and false statement overall, but for THIS team it has some merit.
We wouldn’t be contenders, or even ‘pretty good’ regardless - but we’d absolutely be a tournament team if what you say is true imo (and I agree) - that’s not saying much this year; obviously.
But the most Marginal of teams are going to be dancing this year - including probably all of our “historical program” rivals.

I don’t care what position you are playing. If you get a rebound and fire it at your teammate’s head 2 feet away, or hand it to a teammate who is out of bounds, or maybe you like to dribble the ball on the sideline right in front of the bench every other game... that is not good basketball IQ.
This team is just poorly assembled. But I agree there is a lineup or 2 that gives them a chance to win & we don’t seem to ever play the right combinations for any extended period of time. But the dumb, basic basketball mistakes have to stop.
