Had to remove my aunt from the ventilator yesterday, as there was no chance for her to recover. She wasnt able to breathe at all on her own, and after it had attacked her lungs, it seemed like every other major organ failed rapidly. She went from a seemingly healthy lady in her mid 60's, to gone in less than a week. She was one of 6 siblings- and only 2 got to see her to say their goodbyes. She was my mom's older sister- and they have either spoken on the phone or been together every day for as long as anyone could remember. She had recently retired and had planned on doing all of her traveling, relaxing, and watching her grandkids grow up.
Feel incredibly thankful that my own mother had it early on and recovered with no lingering issues. Maybe its just my circle but the last few weeks seems like all of this has hit a lot closer to home. I have known plenty of people that had covid over the last year- but didnt know anyone hospitalized with it until the holiday season. Then its been a few each week it seems.
Guess just get your parents an appointment as soon as possible to get their shot. If they dont want to go, drag them there. This stuff has to end.
